I want to ask you for your prayers for Leah, a girl in my grade who died today. She was in a single car accident two days ago. The police say she lost control of her car and swerved into a tree. She was unconcious for the majority of the time after the crash. Its hard to imagine her as gone from all of us. She was just 9 months away from graduation. We have all taken it pretty hard, and I know our school is going to miss her dearly. I am asking all of you to please pray for her and her family. I think they would be happy to know so many people are looking out for their little girl. Thanks so much. I really appreciate this. Two of my close friends, Rachel E. Fie, and Candice Socorso died in car accidents. Rachel, dying on my birthday, two weeks after her 16 in her new car. Another little girl, Charlotte Vollendorf died in a drunk driving accident. She was 11. It was said that she and her older sister had had an argument about who was going to sit in the front seat. Charlotte won the argument. Hello- How is everyone doing? First off.... I have an opinion about the underrated artists. Being famous is not about being an artist. Neither are the awards or fans. It's about expressing who YOU are and not giving a crap about what other people think. I wish that Jewel wasn't so famous, ya know? I remember w little while back, someone posted that they wished that she wasn't famous either... I think that if I do pursue a career as a musician (just me and my guitar), I will want to have a few CDs out and such, but no fame for me. People hunger for money too much and it's sad. It's just so OVERRATED. Another thing.... Does Jewel really sing "Leaving on a Jet Plane?" Cause I got it online and it doesn't sound like her. I will have a hard time believing it if it is her. One more thing.... Where does everyone get all these unreleased songs? I have heard OF them, but I haven't been able to GET any of them. Please tell me!! =) Love, Allena (The Musician Angel) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 17:01:33 -0500 From: Adina Friedman Subject: [EDA] Jewel on politically incorrect If this show is interupted by election coverage will they reair it? Hi all, Just another reminder that a particularly interesting Jewel TV appearance is happening tonight. Jewel will be one of the four panelists on ABC's "Politically Incorrect". I can't predict how continued election coverage may effect the broadcast, but the show is scheduled to follow Nightline on the ABC network (this is shortly after midnight in most markets). In addition to checking local listings for exact time in your area, you may want to set a VCR to run an extra hour or two in case its delayed. The other three panelists are: Dennis Prager (radio personality) Laura Innes (actress: Kerry on ER) Jason Alexander (actor: George on Sienfeld) They should have plenty to talk about, considering current events! This show gets pretty wild, so it should be fun. PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a concern if you use AOL 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0. This is only if you have AOL 6.0 or plan to upgrade to 6.0 To make a long story short, the new AOL 6.0 sends all email with "HTML formatting" and does not have an option to send just plain text. What happens then is all email sent from an AOL 6.0 account to a smoe.org mailing list is bounced (rejected) by the listserve software and is then forwarded onto the list owner for fixing/approval. The list owner then gets the post and has to do some magic and then send the post on. This of course will result in a delay for your post in reaching the list. So, if you now have AOL 6.0 and send a post and are perplexed as to why it did not show up yet or showed up hours later, you now know why. This is causing problems on other list serves across the planet, and AOL has been made aware of the problem. In the mean time, the owners of smoe.org are working on a solution with some software they can install that would automatically fix the offending AOL email and send it on without it bouncing. In the mean time, if you are active on this list and have been considering upgrading to version 6.0 of AOL, you might want to hold off a while until this problem is rectified (I will let you know when that is) Mike - list owner * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * If you can't find the answer on the page have any list related * questions, please feel free to email me at ducksoup@quackquack.net * or you can IM me on either of the AOL names below: * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 and/on AOL or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 18:17:09 EST From: TigressWH@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] 2 songs My two songs would be Gloria, and Morning Song..and maybe Who WOuld Save Your Soul? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 19:14:49 EST From: Jamieangel1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel stuff for sale I have a virtual plethera of Jewel magazines to get rid of. For new folks who were not with us last year, many EDAs raised almost $5,000 for HGH/Clearwater as a Christmas gift to Jewel last winter. This money, combined with a $25,000 "Smooch For A Cure" grand prize, (which the EDAs helped Jewel win for Clearwater), led to an HGH/Clearwater site in Gualcea, Honduras being dedicated to the EDA’s. You can learn more about this site at: www.clearwaterproject.org/cchonduras.html The funding for this project is being implemented in two stages. The first stage cost $30,000, which was the money mentioned above, that initiated the Gualcea water site earlier this year. The second stage will cost approximately $45,000 and will be sent sometime next year. Many of you have indicated that you want to continue this effort, as this year's Christmas present to Jewel. Your contributions are very appreciated and along with HGH fundraising efforts, will help complete this project. Those of you subscribed to JeweLink, will soon see similar instructions posted there as well, but as long as you follow Shane's EDA instructions, we'll include your donation in EDA totals. Here's Shane and here's to great success with this year's holiday project! MrBB ******************************** Hello EDAs! Thanksgiving is right around the corner again, and for those of you who would like to donate to the water site in Gulcea, Honduras for Jewel’s EDA Christmas present, we now have the details for you. I know Jewel will love whatever it is that each of you can contribute for this project that she cares so deeply about. You can either donate online or by mailing in a check or money order. In order to track the EDA donations, so that we can let you know how much you’ve raised, here’s the scoop: If you’d like to mail your contribution, please write EDA in the upper left hand corner of your check. Make it payable to Higher Ground for Humanity (or HGH) and indicate Clearwater in the memo. Mail your contribution to: HGH/Clearwater Project Attention: EDA PO Box 9002 Carlsbad, CA 92018 USA We also have a new online donation page that just went up today! If you make your contribution online, PLEASE ENTER “EDA” IN THE FAX FIELD OF THE ONLINE ORDER FORM. The minimum amount you can donate online is $10, so if you prefer to send in less, please use the mail-in instructions. The web site page is at http://www.clearwaterproject.org/dodonations.html - it also has instructions and a form you can print out for mailing your check. (This form isn’t necessary, however.) Happy Thanksgiving! Jewel is very thankful she has such thoughtful fans! Shane ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Nov 2000 00:58:22 -0500 From: katherine h Subject: [EDA] politically....
