It should be " and >feign all you maidens, but don't resist too long". That is, pretend >to resist, but don't overdo it, girls. I disagree with this... i think it is "It dont exist to long" meaning, you may only get one chance at it, and by the time your ready for another, the fame has died, and it has moved on. The Song is all about taking a chance. "So search all you miners, you hunters of dreams, look in the allyways for what you know is not what it seems," That is literally saying chase down the dream, and take the chance when you have it. "Its the last rodeo" its hte last chance.. it wont come back again. this is just what i think it means. anyone else have a take? I don't know if she changed it during the Spirit Tour, because I haven't heard it recently, but she used to sing "you liquify with an ingenious subtlety and you slip through the fingers of ambiguity".. It's COMPLETELY different in the jeweljk.com lyrics, and it couldn't be mistaken as what they put it the way she used to sing it.. Shane asked that I forward this message along to you. _______________________________________ Well, it's getting to be that time of year again. Snow is falling nearly everywhere except sunny California, Christmas carols are being played in more and more elevators across America, and Mr.BB tells me that the EDA's are writing in, wondering what to do for this year's Christmas project. I know Jewel and Lenedra were absolutely honored by your interest and participation in the Clearwater Project last year. The fact that so many people came together to help bring their vision into reality was truly touching. I've been giving them presents my entire life (and sometimes forgetting entirely, I admit) and can truly say that they have never recieved a greater or more thoughtfull gift from anyone! The Clearwater Project in Gualsea, Honduras, is progressing at an amazing pace. The Community has been going through its education process and work has actually begun digging the trenches for the pipes. You can actually see some pictures of Gualsea in the new slide show at: http://www.clearwaterproject.com/gasshow.html I know that the project in Gualsea is only halfway funded and we are going to be fundraising soon to help finish the project. We are working out the details now, but I think it would be the perfect present to Jewel if we could raise more money for this project. I'll get back to you soon with details on how we can do this together and keep track of EDA contributions. Thank you! Shane Kilcher _______________________________________ OK. So, please hang in there and we'll get back to you soon. In the meantime, please educate yourself about Clearwater. The web site has just gone through a major overhaul and it's a whole new site now! Please take a look at www.clearwaterproject.com. We're really happy with the new look and many new features, including a much more detailed look at the Gualsea watersite, dedicated to the EDAs, and brought to reality through your efforts. Cheers! Well, I have just thing to ask you: who made you judge of other people's behavior? In case you haven't noticed, this is the year 2000, not the 11th century... I don't know why I even bother to write this, but it makes me furious when people criticize others in such a manner. My mother also raised me to be a "proper woman", like you say, and she would be ashamed of me if she ever knew I was calling other women a "slut". Jewel has a private life - she is entitled to do whatever she wants, without people trying to tell her what to do. Respect others if you want other people to respect you. Wow, I NEVER would have guessed that! I read the passage in the book and had guessed either "Carnivore" or "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone", as during that timeframe those were the two songs she was performinng regularly that just about everyone had pegged for a huge hit. On the other hand, the part about Jewel "not liking" the song made me think it was NOT either of those two, nor "Satellite" or "Fading Away", which also seemed like potential hits. So I did not have a logical guess as to what song she was referring to in the book. Three of those four above, and "Tough Girl" were among the five songs she performed each night of Jewelstock with the band (the band rocked bigtime!!!), and I must admit "Tough Girl" was my least favorite of the five BY FAR. Now I gotta wonder who thought "Tough Girl" had hit potential. If any of you others are around, any JewelStock attendees reading this like "Tough Girl" thoughs nights? (liked it enough to think it was hit material?) My >guess would be that any lyrics posted there ARE CORRECT, no matter what >your take on them. Very good point. However, considering that Jewel quite often sings slightly different lyrics to many songs when she sings them, escpecially new ones (which ALWAYS undergo transformations the first months she performs them), it's hard to say any lyrics are "correct". Heck, 3/4 of the lyrics on the Pieces Of You CD don't totally match-up with the lyrics in the liner notes. I was even at MrBBs place a few times when he was transcribing lyrics to a relatively new song and the version he was transcribing was different in parts to another version he had. Dear Angels, Wow, I haven't posted in forever... It sounded to me like the way Jewel said it was in a tongue-in-cheek sorta way... I could be totally wrong, and even if I am, there's nothing hellaciously wrong with being blunt. Granted, I've never met someone and just said "Hey, wanna fuck?" but I have done similair things, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Maybe it's just me. Just an opinion. Yes, the lyrics on Jewel's website are correct in terms of the "published lyrics". That means the song is registered with the publisher using those lyrics. Does she often change lyrics? Yes, all the time. Will she change lyrics again? Yes, probably. There's many songs in Jewel's vast catalogue that change every time she performs them. "Down" & "Do You Want To Play" are two prime examples from last year. There's few versions with identical lyrics. With that said, I give credit to Barry, because some of the transcription of "Last Dance Rodeo" was indeed wrong on the website. That was transfered to html by someone else and I neglected to check it for accuracy, which I did this afternoon. It's now corrected to the publishing transcription. Also to Barry's credit, later versions of "Last Dance Rodeo" do have the lines he mentioned. All the versions from the European Tour in 1996 (when she wrote it) have the published lyrics. Due to the nature of my work, I've discovered that almost every Jewel song has gone through lyric permutations over time. It keeps things interesting, doesn't it? Hi angels! First of all-- Youch. I thought Pink Floyd was a dud witha funky stage name. I didn't know it was a band... And about the gift card... I think the names and donations (if any...) are enough. I know not every single person will send a name, obviously, but I think it will be, say, more than a hundred names. That's a lot, and I bet we want to write our names big enough, you know? Hearing the Poltzie won a lot of awards at the San Diego thing is sooooo cool!!! I can't believe I helped to make a difference!!! I hope he gets a better shoutout nationally now. Also--I gotta show off-- my school has an internationally known club called KEY Club (Kiwanis for Educating Youth), which is a community service club. It's awesome!!! Every week we meet and do something cool. Omigod if you guys lived in my neighborhood I'd heckle you to give me money for UNICEF (I'm doing that door-to-door donation thing on Halloween). And I'm going to go to a walk for stopping Domestic Violence. It's 3 and 1/2 miles. I'm having so much fun!!!! As someone has said before, I think that this person who posts under "Ronald I. Nam" is just trying to get some attention. After the initial posts about the "Ah" subject, the misquoting, the kissing the boy & period thing, I think it's even more obvious with this one that this person has just been trying to get a rise out of everyone. I wouldn't even be surprised if they weren't even a Jewel fan, and were just trying to cause trouble. This is just my opinion, no one has to agree, but I think regardless, it would probably be better if we were to just "pass by" any posts of this kind of attention grabbing nature by the 'girl' posting under "Ronald I. Nam". If the person actually has a post without this kind of content - great, but I doubt it's going to happen. Worse than just causing arguements between Ronald and others, these posts have been causing arguements among other members of the list that could have been avoided. I think this is just someone having a laugh at our expense when we vehemently reply to this posts and argue back and forth about whether or not we're being rude. If we ignore them - this person isn't going to be having fun anymore, and might stop. Like I said JMO. :) ~ Sandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #373 ***************************
