I was so excited going to see Jewel singing accoustically that i decided to book a plane and go to see Jewel. I travelled from Holland to Chigago O'hare and from this to San Jose. I hired my car and drove to the hostel in Saratoga. The next day on tuesday i was going to experience the first Jewel live accoustic concert i ever seen at the Mountain winery in Saratoga. This venue was so nice situated in the valley at the mountain winery. I really was getting excited , and when i heard Jewel starting to sing the song Does anybody believe in love really came some tears. The voice of Jewel was so pretty and the way she plays her guitar is so damn great ! The concerts were something different from what i was used to in Europe when i saw the concerts in may 1999 with her band . This time no band gig but a concert just by jewel her self. She told the crowd that she was very excited to do her first accoustic set in 1/1/2 year . I met a nice guy in Saratoga at the Jewelconcert Ian. (it was nice to meet you and you saw that i was really enjoying the concerts Ian !) The setlists of the concerts were so damn great, i really liked to hear the songs Stephenville, Rosie & Mick . Other highlights were the accoustic performed songs Hands & Foolish games...... It was great to see the concerts in Saratoga & Visalia. I really liked Jewel singing and the concerts were just fantastic. Her voice is still wonderful and her songs still have the vibe that makes Jewel so special to me. It was a pity that i didn't met jewel. I spoke with Steve poltz as he remembered me from last year. He asked me at Visalia where Lotti was.....i told him that she was living now in California... I really think everyone should enjoy the gigs in November and try to enjoy them and perhaps try to record them for the list..... That is it for now friends.. I have a little trouble believing Jewel was drunk, isin't she against drinking? I was always given the impression she never even picked up a drink after what she saw it did to others when she was in the bar when she was little. Why just because someone is acting childish does it make you think they are drunk? I've always found her quite comedish and childlike. I don't know what you mean about her "having to gain her balance", but that could be caused by a lot of things - high heeled shoes for instance like she wore at the Radioshack concert. ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: "fuzzyfsh" To: Sent: Monday, September 25, 2000 9:49 PM Subject: [EDA] concert in tahoeon friday. > i went to the concert on friday in tahoe and it was pretty good. i believe > that going to a concert in tahoe was my mistake. it was the first time i > have ever seen jewel, and it was pretty obvious she was drunk. she had a > childish attitude and had to gain her balence a few times. she made it a > half comedy/half song thing. the worst part for me is when someone requested > adriane, my favorite song, she said she didn't remember the words. big > dissappointment. but i do enjoy her music so i will live. she did yoddle at > the very end, and i'm a big fan of that because of the movie "another you" > that was my highlight. > ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Oct 2000 11:59:47 EDT From: Jewelsmj1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] my gig was great success! Hello angels! I don't know if you all remember my email about me getting a gig and wondering the laws on playing Jewel's music... Well, I did it. It went over terrifically! It was an awesome show. There's more good news... There were people there that had never heard of Jewel :: shock!, i know: ) :: and they came up to me afterwards and asked tons of questions about her albums, and music and such things. It was really neat. Just thought I'd share that with you guys. Hello Jewelfans, Don't get me wrong with this -) But to my opinion Jewel has changed since she started to date Ty Murray. She is certainly not as open anymore to her fans as she used to. From the gigs i seen in CA Steve Poltz is still the same funny guy who loves to chat with his fans, but Jewel didn't show up after the concert to sign any item of her fans. of course she doesn't have to, but a little more commitment to her devoted fans should be really not too much asked... Jewel has been acting more harsh, altough her songs are still as beautiful as they ever been ...the new songs : Does anybody believe in love, Rosie & mick, stephenville, violet eyes shows Jewel ability to write beautiful lyrics... But to her fans she has changed at the concerts she is nice but after a concert she is taking less and less time for her fans. Just my opinion, don't get me wrong i really liked the concerts a lot , they were amazing but Jewel is now different in her attitude towards fans . I can't be the only one who is noticing this... Is that true, cos it obviously wasnt broadcasted? I was also wondering if she's sung it at any of her recent concerts? I can only find one recording of 'Fade Away'(I'm Fading). When was this written, and where was it performed/recorded? When and where did the Jewel/Melissa Ethridge duets take place, and is their performance on CD? Tune In! I know many of you are very curious about accurate setlists from the solo acoustic tour last week. I haven't logged them yet, but I'm working on it this week and will post the complete accurate setlists (including Steve Poltz's setlists) by the weekend. West also took plenty of photos which will be featured on the website soon. And yes, as Michiel posted, the Mountain Winery shows were proffesionally filmed and recorded for a possible NetAid webcast later this year. We'll keep you informed on that in JeweLink as it progresses. Lately, a lot of people have also asked about hearing Jewel singing on some currently running Home Depot/Olympics commercial. I haven't heard this myself, but I can say that it must be a sound-a-like, because she has never recorded any such commercial. Also, please be sure to check the jeweljk.com calendar. There is so much activity going on that I've been updating/correcting it several times a day lately and that will likely continue over the next few weeks. I hope you all get a chance to enjoy Jewel's new book over the next few weeks. There's been countless personal questions raised on this list, over the past five years, and I can assure you that Jewel addresses a great many of them in the book. There's also quite a few vintage photos you've never seen before.
