No offense to Jason, but it wasn't that great for people to go to a half-baked mostly ad site instead of the official site, which is great.. Never fear - with a little (or a lot) of teamwork, they were eventually un-stuck and we began to get ourselves organized to begin. To go along with the Survivor theme we were split into two 'tribes' and were directed to name ourselves - between my daughter (she's 9 and loves the cartoon The Wild Thornberries) and the tribe members who were stuck in the sand we settled on the name Stuck with Thornberries :-) The 'other' tribe chose the name Toxic Avengers (I hope that's correct...). We began with a relay contest, but I forget who won - lol. Then we all took our trash bags and began picking up the beach! :-) The beach really didn't seem as bad as it has been in the past, but we were still able to find plenty of trash to pick up :-) That 'other' tribe supposedly won the amount of trash contest, but we all know better ;-) next time I say we make them crush the beer boxes :-P But we won the 'scavenger hunt' portion of the contest :-) Dan's objet de trash won the most unusual item portion, with a close second as Luna's infinity (aka the figure 8 :-)) but somehow Kelly Gallagher pulled through and won the check for the gazillion dollars and the Pontiac Aztec by the end of the weekend :-) After the clean-up we had lunch at what I will venture to say has become an EDA favorite at gatherings at our place - Big Ed's BBQ!!!! (Dennis just likes it 'cause the plywood caricatures remind him of home ;-) Yummy :-) The LRC was great!! Luna has a beautiful voice - see her if you can :-) Randi Driscoll is not only full of talent, but is a really nice, friendly person with a huge heart and great sense of humor - Definitely see her if you can - - and she even had Dennis pegged in no time ;-) Get her cd - you won't regret it!!! Well, there was even more packed into the too short weekend, but I'll let others who attended add that :-) I've gone on long enough and need to go feed the kids dinner :-) Smooches to all who want them :-) Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 15:55:50 EDT From: Lorin109@aol.com Subject: [EDA] UNSUBRIBE ME FROM THIS CRAP!!! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 19:14:42 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] 2 Questions At 02:30 PM 9/20/00 , you wrote: > Hey everyone, >About a week or so ago someone was saying something like "the official stance >on recording at her shows is we're not allowed." and they we're talking about >ways of sneaking in recording devices.("going stealth",yaaaaaa stealth >rules.) From what I've been told, the J-team does NOT tell venues/promoters etc to crack down on tapers. (except maybe at HUGE events that are being filmed etc). However, it is possible and likely that the venues would crack down, either at their own accord or maybe at Atlantics request. I DO know that open taping (not hiding things, being easily seen) will be cracked down upon. It goes without say trying to cart in mic stands etc will certainly get you booted off the premises. So, the best advise is (especially so since nearly every puplic Jewel concert the last two years seems to have been audience taped, it is wise to do it stealh. Sneak your stuff in, and tape discretely. (THE BEST advise I ever got was to practice in a movie theatre. Sneak in your equipment....practice taping, changing discs/tapes, changing batteries, in the dark at a move. Good advise!) Sean says something. People object angrily. Then, some people get say, let's stop arguing and respect each other. I'm f***ing sick of it. I for one, find Sean's posts generally insightful, thought provoking, unique and different. No, I don't always agree with him. No, his thoughts aren't always popular, but that doesn't mean that anyone has to think him so disgusting a person. As for Harris, that was the last thing I expected from you--to be spiteful and angry. People appreciate what you do and who you are, but I think one of the great messages in Jewel's music is openmindedness and acceptance. You failed to show those characteristics with your e-mail to the list. I do know that you do some great things for several communities. Not all of us do. This community WAS such a great community because we enjoyed each other's company and we were such a diverse group joined by a great fondness for the music of one Jewel Kilcher. However, Dennis and Sean are both right, this list used to be more open to stuff. No, we shouldn't go unmoderated (go go burrito!), but we should have freer discussion. We should not just be little Jewely suck-up zombies. I didn't join the list for that and I know tons of EDAs who have left this list because that is what this list has become. I loved gatherings. I loved LRC's. They don't interest me anymore. And yes, I too have hit on girls at gatherings, shoot me. My rant is over, but know it's not a flame, a suggestion to all involved--including myself. It was all in good fun, and everyone does it. she even said "the girl from the cranberries is going to beat me up" you know people make fun of jewel for yodeling all the time, but if you let something one person said bother you then you shouldnt be in the business. i think the fact that you compared her to eminem is outrageous!!! if she ever talked about cutting her mothers throat after raping her, then maybe we could compare.. all she did was have fun.. i think it is a bit oversensitive katie *the theater angel* :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 19:42:06 -0700 From: "jewel poltz" Subject: [EDA] NJC: Angels help a fellow angel please!!!
