Hello everyone! Been a looooooong time since I posted. However I heard a rumor from a friend that Jewel married Ty Murrary. Is this so? When did it happen? Where? INFO PLEASE! I notice that some of us tend to let this everyday angels thing get to our heads. I personally belive we were our souls in heaven before we were ever here, which in effect makes us angels. However, people just cant handle being associated with angels cause for some reason there is too much collision with the ego. So the point is,if people think of themselves as ever having been angels in any way, whether a spiritual way or associated with a mailing list, things go wrong. Thus why I think of myself as a human being. A human being who knows the roots of humanity. There should be just as much pride and goodness associated with human beings as angels. So when I see people saying things like "I cant belive an EDA would act this way" or somethign to that effect I cant help but roll my eyes.Like because we're Jewel fans and belong to a mailing list,we're better. We act better,we think better, etc. Maybe some think this, and thats fine if they do. I just don't. I would just hope that we could act better/be better and try to do good things and make a difference because we are human beings. EDA's, the list, the gatherings, and life :-) My, my, my - haven't things gotten interesting these last few days :-) I just wanted to point out real quick (or maybe not so quickly....) that this is not that unusual and actually reminds me of the old list in many ways - this is a perfectly normal part of the list 'cycle' as I'm sure those of us who've been here long enough can attest. There have always been, and I'm sure will continue to be, little outcries here and there - soon it'll be gone and we'll all be friends again :-) And I agree with the ppl that commented that the list has been more interesting for it... As far as the list moderation, I agree with much of what Dennis said - I have always maintained that I prefer less moderation, but also understand that some is necessary since the list has gotten so large. This is why there is the NJC guideline for the list - for the newer EDA's, this is a prefix we use to let list members know that the post has no jewel content. So, if you only want to read jewel related stuff, delete it :-) That is also why there is the news only version.... I wouldn't trade the friends I've made from this list for the world - none of us are perfect and I have no doubt that there are those who talk about me when I'm not around - both positively and negatively - and that's just fine and natural, I'm not perfect and wholeheartedly admit that I can be a real b*tch at times and about certain things.... :-) I also admit wholeheartedly that there are things Sean says that I agree with and much that I don't, and do welcome him to attend gatherings, though I may refuse to discuss my life with him :-P I also cannot deny that things have happened at gatherings that shouldn't have, but as far as I know nothing too serious or dangerous has happened and I think much of that is because we watch out for each other - and I don't think this is a male/female thing either - especially considering many of us have now known each other for years and have become genuine friends. After all, considering I've hosted a good number of events in my own home, I think I have a pretty good idea what these people are like.... Anyway, to make a long point short (too late, I know....), this list is like anything else in life - there is good and bad, there are ups and downs, and we are all human and flawed... Hope to see lots of you at the next gathering so you can form your own opinions of the whole thing :-) Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 08:38:25 -0700 (PDT) From: Jeff Koko Subject: [EDA] Just like old times Seeing all these old email addressed makes it feel like 1997 all over again :) Honestly, though. The new book contains original short stories and prose that will allow you a rare glimpse at the turning points and events that have shaped Jewel's life. In this book, Jewel creates a vivid montage of the people, places and relationships that she has experienced. She paints an unblinkingly honest picture of the exceptional journey from her childhood in Alaska, and her beginnings as a struggling artist, to the challenges and transformations she experienced last year, touring the world. Also included are three sections of photography, all featuring images never seen before, including many from her early years and a section of images shot by Jewel herself. For a sneak peek at "Chasing Down The Dawn," please take your browser on a little journey to: http://www.jeweljk.com/ad/chasinghome.html Now, I'll hand you back over to Chuck, who will remind you about pre-ordering info and has some good news about a few new items many of you have asked about. Enjoy the book preview! MrBB ****************************** Hi Everyone, Chuck here. Back in 1995, a then unknown Jewel joined Jackson Browne, Roger Daltrey and an all-star cast, performing as Dorothy in a stage production of "The Wizard Of Oz" at Avery Fisher Hall in NYC to benefit the Children's Defense Fund. Since then, one of our most requested items has been the rare and difficult-to-find, official VHS and CD releases of this performance, titled "The Wizard Of Oz In Concert - Dreams Come True". Well, we're happy to now include both the official VHS and CD release in our online catalogue. Also, as you may know, we do have the DVD of "Ride With The Devil" (starring Jewel in the female lead) in stock, but demand has been unexpectedly high and quantities are limited. Don't wait much longer if you were looking for this DVD. Now, back to news concerning Jewel's new book. JMerch is now taking pre-orders for the hardcover book as well as the spoken word editions, available as a double CD or double cassette tape set. The spoken word CD and cassette editions contain approximately 2 1/2 hours of unabridged selections read by Jewel herself. As you probably already know, the street date for the release is October 3rd. JMerch will ship all pre-orders directly to your door as early as legally possible. JMerch will be offering the book, which retails at $24.00, for only $17.95. Go ahead and check Amazon, Crown, Barnes & Noble, you name it. JMerch is confident you won't find it priced any lower, anywhere! Same goes for the spoken word versions, which retail at $22.99 for the double-CD, and $18.99 for the two-tape cassette version. JMerch's price is $16.95 and $15.95, respectively.
