GREETINGS fellow EDA's The story that I have heard/read is two fold. Number one is that she was going through the identity phase and changed it to "JUEL" when attending Interlochen School of Arts. Now on to the second part; Rumor has it that she was named after her grandfather, "YULE" Kilcher, which was said to be originally spelled "JUEL" back in Switzerland. I may be incorrect on this but that is the story that I had read somewhere, either that or I dreamed it up. Hi everyone, There's a new place for EDAs on the Web: EDA Headquarters! I just wanted to let everyone know about the new place for EDAs to hang out, chat and trade Angelfood. About a week ago, I opened up the EDA Headquarters Website. It's designed to be a sort of "EDA clubhouse" where we can all hang out and chat, trade angelfood and find out when and where the next EDA event is going to take place. Right now, I'm looking for your help in shaping it up to be the site we would all like to see. What does that mean? Well, right now it means, I'd like you to stop by the site and take a look around. Take in the sights, and let me know what you like, don't like, and what you'd like to see added. I want to make this the one source for what's happening in the world of the EDAs. But I can't do it without your help. So please stop by, even if just to look around. If you do stop by, I have the message boards and chat open with an area dedicated to posting Angelfood requests and trades. So without further ado, here's the address: http://www.deepwaterstudios.com/eda/index.htm Jason The "Airplay Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 10:25:28 -0400 From: Shannon Mackie Subject: * NJC: College Penpals Hey, Angels! This is Hazy Angel and I am writing from my new college email address! I am living in a dorm and it gets pretty boring here, and I was thinking how great it would be if I actually got some "snail" mail. Are there any angels (maybe in college who feel the same way) that would like to correspond with me, as penpals? Please let me know. I think this might be fun! Here's my address if one of you just wants to write once and not continually respond: Shannon Mackie 309 Rodney F Newark, DE 19717 Please help me out I don't even get junk mail! Well, I know I'm a tad late posting this, but since no one else has, here we go... So much has happened the last few days, I do not know where to begin... The Living Room concert took place at Amy Neufeld's amazing three story apartment, that still has the original pre-Civil War hardwood floor. Amy is one of the greatest EDAs I know!!! Kind, generous, funny, wonderful, these words can only begin to describe just how cool Amy really is. The night started off with Kelli G. (ah, my spelling is horrible, sorry) opening with several songs. She played quite a few of her own, plus a couple of cover songs. Kelli's songs range from serious to playful, and make for really nice turn of emotion throughout her set. I must say though, I found 'I need a back rub" to be my favorite, and while I was taking in the sights of NYC the next day, I could not help but hum what little of the song I knew. After kelli played, there was a brief break while we all talked and had a good time... There were so many long standing members of the list there! Dennis Harris (hey, can an EDA event really be complete without Dennis?) drove in from up north. Another really cool EDA, who have heard so much about, and finally got to meet, Tom Proven came in from PA. Let me just say, If you think Dennis is crazy alone, put him in the same room with Tom... Things WILL happen!!! ;-) Also, Eric "Crash boy" was there, though his long, flowing locks of hair somehow got left behind somewhere. Eric is another wild, totally interesting EDA who has turned me on to the idea of watching football muted with electronia music playing in the background... And then we come to Able (I hope i'm spelling these names right!) another wonderful EDA who has been on the list several years. he is really funny, and has this aura around him that seems to calm people down.. Dan and Leaf also came to the show, with Dan supervising the taping. Dan is a really great guy, who has been on the list long before it could really be called a list! Also, an interesting note: Dan is the man who mastered the Rare Angels and Jewel Rocks The Paradise tapes. So, just by listening to your angelfood, you can tell just how extremely cool Dan is! Anyway, Laura, Luna Taylor soon began to play, and quickly began to win the hearts of people who were hearing her for the first time. Her set really was wonderful! She played most of her songs, plus the old EDA favorite, "plywood cow" (well, the full title is 'Never Give your pink, fleshy heart to a plywood cow") Honestly though, I've seen her play a few times now, and it seems her show gets better each time.... I highly recommend that ya'll check her out as soon as possible! After her last song we all sat up until around 4:30 AM talking of all things EDA, and then some. Soon Amy's living room floor was littered with four of five snoring EDA's... There were so many great people there, both EDAs and not. I wish I had the time to sing their praise, and fully describe the night, but time is short.. Just to give everyone an idea though: There were about nine EDAs there, with about a total of 40 years of EDA membership.... The Morning After Long after daylight began to stream through the windows, we all groggily sat up, slowly began to wake up as Tom, Dennis, and Ally cooked us pancakes for breakfast. The pancakes were really good, and after breakfast, we all pretty much laid around until the afternoon, when we began to barbeque. Tammy, yet another really great EDA!!!!, came up, and brought us some really yummy steaks to munch on... And so we ate Steak, wings, and the potato salad that Dan and Leaf brought. We listened to the CD of. Luna's show that Dan had burned, and were blown away by Luna's show Too soon the gathering ended and Everyone went home, with the exception of Tom, Dennis and Able. The few of us that were left sat around and talked of the weekend, and of the EDAF beach clean up that is quickly approaching. And then, once again, the numbers dropped as the night grew late, and Tom, Dennis and Abel made their ways home.... So the next day, this lonely Texan walked the streets of new york, and hid out in Central Park for nine hours, marveling at its beauty. Of course I hit all the major tourist sites, such as: the statue of liberty, times square, and the subway :-) Since most things seem to happen in threes, there was one last get together weds. night at amy's. Luna, Eric, Dan, myself, and of course amy spent a few hours talking of the sights that the Texans in the group had seen, and how NYC compares to the southlands, and of all of our future plans and designs. it was a more mellow meeting, being tempered with the knowledge that we all would be going out separate ways... and so we did. Luna is heading up north after a brief stay in NYC ("up north' being either Montreal or maine", Eric, amy and Dan are going back to work, and the next morning I headed for somewhere between the Red and Rio Grande rivers... It was a long road that stretched from Jersey to nowhere.... After a long day of learning just how far from home I really i am, I am back in Jersey waiting for a greyhound that is going Texas way.. I just want to thank the EDAs I have met this last week for the great time they have shown me here in NYC. it has been a wonderful week, and I hope to see some of ya'll down in Austin Oct 8 at the LRC... take care rowdius ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 09:58:18 -0700 From: Mike Connell Subject: * FWD: JeweLink NewsFlash! Hey guys, I was listening to this old Angelfood tape, and it had "SIBTW" on it. And before she starts singing Jewel says that she stole one of the lines in the song from the movie "the Bagdad cafe", so I was wondering if anyone knew which line, and which scene in the movie it was taken from. The other thing is that I am in desperate need of some new angelfood. I have heaps of it to trade, I just need partners!
