Anyhows, doesnt really matter. Ive listened to a lot of Jewel's older songs, but I was wondering where I can get copies of her new songs. Also, I dont mean to be a scab, but I would love a tape (audio or video) of Jewel's unreleased stuff, and I havent got a CD burner. Im in Oz, so if anyone can sell me one, let me know of costs, etc. I'd really appreciate it. Also, I was wondering if anyone out there wants a pen friend? Im 19, female, as I said before, from Australia. I would love for someone to write to by snail mail...I miss hand writing letters!!! Jewel's character was Sue Lee Shelly. It's only an instrumental though. It's on the RWTD soundtrack. I'm pretty sure she didn't write it or compose it because she's not credited. Actually, Jewel DID write a song called the Sue Lee Song, from the point of view of the character she played in RWTD. She only played it once live, as far as I know. Here are the lyrics: The Sue Lee Song Sometimes I falter beneath an endless sky And I can't remember when, only why And I call out your name in the darkness from far away These days are so strange (so strange) Like a fire that has no flame Like a vessel that's hungry for rain And I call out your name in the darkness from far away Soldiers all march and fight Spending up their youthfulness and skinny pride While maidens all sleep with their hearts all on their sleeves Bloodied from victory These days are so long And still I plow my way Through these nights so cold And these nights so strange When even the stars seem to lose their way And I call out your name in the darkness from far away Soldiers all march and fight Spending up their youthfulness and skinny pride While maidens all sleep with their hearts all on their sleeves Bloodied from victory With all my heart I want to march to where you sleep But you rise no more Like the strange fruit of war Laid down at the victorious feet And I call out your name from the darkness And I call out your name from the darkness so far away cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 10:30:46 -0400 From: "Dan Perugini" Subject: * re: just wondering >Hey everyone! I was just curious as to how everyone came to be on the EDA >list. How did you find out about it? When did you join? Things like that. Hmm... How did I find this list, and the rest of the EDA's? I heard our fair haired young lady singin one day on the radio, somewhere back in 96. Liked what I heard. So went out and bought the original CD of POY. Started lookin around on the net around November or December of 96. Found this grand ol list serv, and joined up. Been through most of the trials and tribulations that have gone forward. And have enjoyed it immensely. Mainly I just lurk nowadays, with nothing real important to say. It is more fun just to sit back and watch all these nice young folks talk amongst themselves over everything. ;-) Dan Perugini dperugin@mail.mcg.edu Medical Library Specialist Greenblatt Library, Medical College of Georgia ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 15:54:10 -0400 From: "Amanda Sharp" Subject: * Re: unfamiliar song Ya know, I thought the whole song was about ride with the devil and thecharacter she played, but... i hadnt heard anyone mention it, and was unaware that it even existed. The recordings for that album later became known as the un-finished album, Fritz Creek Store. The album was never released, becuase of the instant success of the You Were Meant for Me album edit. So, Jewel went back on tour to promote the album. After Lilith Fair and the Tiny Lights tour, Jewel decieded to release a sophmore album, but the songs for Fritz Creek Store seamed to out-dated and didn't refelct where Jewel was in her life. She instead recorded and released Spirit. Many of the songs from Fritz Creek were put onto Spirit, but "not the same versions or recordings",according to Jewel. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 19:05:40 -0700 From: "Sandy" Subject: * Jewel on "On The Arts" today... Hey, I just happened to catch an interview with Jewel today on "On The Arts", does anyone know if this is a repeat interview? The interview was mainly about Jewel and Ride With The Devil, they showed scenes from the movie, and talked to her about the movie, and about moving around from music to writing to acting. Anyways, if anyone knows if this was new or a repeat (it's not on the jeweljk site) please let me know, thanks. Lucky me, managed to get it on tape as well! ~<3~ Sandy ~~ ~~ Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom No longer lend your strengths to that which you wish to be free from fill your lives with love and bravery and you shall lead a life uncommon ~~ Jewel "A Life Uncommon" ~~ ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #276 ***************************
