Don't know if there's any truth to this, but it is funny. :) Susana The Azorean Angel __________________________________________ Jewel in the Crown Jewel is willing to do what she can for a fan in need. While performing at the announcement of Democrat presidential candidate Al Gore's vice presidential choice Tuesday, someone in the crowd apparently collapsed from the heat. Jewel not only stopped to make sure she was okay, but offered to do mouth-to-mouth if necessary =97 which garnered some suggestive laughs from the guys in the crowd. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Aug 2000 15:58:47 EDT From: KSco2001@aol.com Subject: * I saw Jewel at the Al gore running mate election in Nashville,TN Dear Eda's, I have been an eda for about 4 years now. I have listened to Jewel avidly and continued to by all her new stuff, but my faith had dwindled and I was beginning to lose interest. until, this morning when my friend called me and woke me up. "Guess What?" she said. "Jewel Is going to be down in front of the capitol building this morning and we can watch her for free." I promptly got up and changed into some fake leathor pants (I later regreted deeply) and a cool white shirt I just bought and headed with my friend downtown. Jewel was apparently the entertainment for the Al Gore announcing his new runningmate. (We live in Nashville, TN by the way.) We waited in line for an hour until the told us we needed ticket. I asked,"If it free why do we need tickets?" Anyway we walked four blocks to get them and went back. Finally Jewel came out in a cute tanktop. She said,"It's a bit hot for my alaskan blood." Then she sang WWSYS in which the middle she stopped and said, 'There is a girl who has fainted and may need help if anyone cares." Apparently she had just been laying there recieving no attenion. I thought thats my Jewel. After the song she asked the girl if she was alight and the girl said I just collapsed from the heat. Jewel said ohh just a little collapse ay I collapse all the time. The crowd giggled. She then proceeded to sing Chime Bells at which point Noone was really listning to Jewel at all she stopped middway yodeling and said, "come on guys this isn't easy." At which point people laughed and started to clap. I took with me the Jewel songbook and The rolling stone magazine with her on the cover hopeing I might catch her to get an autograph. WEll, no such luck. Security was so tight with the VP being there and all there was no walking around buildings. Anway she was amazing and i haven't posted in a while and just thought I would share the experience. Love always, ~The Little Eda boy who loves Jewel again.~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2000 17:44:33 EDT From: AEmerald78@aol.com Subject: * Stand & Be Counted...info In the new Rolling Stone issue 848 August 31,2000 with Keanu Reeves on the cover there is an ad for the show. "The results are unbelievable glimpses into these people that nobody else has gotten." The four-hour series, based on a book of the same name by Crosby and writer David Bender, will air on the Learning Channel on August 21st and 22nd, and focuses on artists committed to social and political causes. Crosby, a longtime activist who ardently protested the Vietnam War, conducted face-to-face chats with Sting,Carlos Santana,Jackson Browne,Jewel,Bonnie Raitt,Willie Nelson and Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch, an advocate for Tibetan freedom who Crosby says provided on of the most memorable interviews. "I never would have met him, because that's not my kind of music," Crosby says. "But he's a very activist guy, and I had great communication with him." The documentary also features rare concert footage of artists like Radiohead, Tracy Chapman and Bruce Springsteen (seen in one clip singing "Every Breath You Take" with Sting) at events designed to raise both funds and awareness. "You understand Amnesty International a lot better after you listen to Sting and Peter Gabriel talk about it," Crosby says. "We're talking about some of the most articulate people there are, and people who do a pretty good job of doing their homework about a cause before they put their name on the line for it."
