Jewel is not confined to one race or culture of people. She is out there for all to enjoy and thats probably the best thing about her. I still remember vividly the first time i ever heard a Jewel song. It was in 1995 when an American busker in Melbourne was playing and singing a song called 'Here When Gone.' The lyrics were simple but the song carried so much meaning. Being a shy guy i built up the courage to ask him if he wrote the song or was it a cover. There i first learnt about Jewel. To this day i have remained an avid fan of her work. However, its not Jewel that inspires me these days, instead its you guys; THE EDA's. I was always a follower and never a do-er, however that's all changed. Its all due to hearing some of your stories on life, your experiences, your views, your ups and downs which have given me hope in low points of my life. That's why the EDA's will always hold a special place in my heart. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 21:19:21 -0400 (EDT) From: brandy_earl@milliken.com Subject: [none] - -0400 (EDT) Received: from unknown(169.146.88.2) by mlknfrw1.milliken.com via smap (V5.0) id xma027230; Fri, 16 Jun 00 10:02:29 -0400 Subject: * Radio Shack. It's been a long long time since I've taken the liberty to actually talk. Being unactive lately, for reasons that are not up to me, I didn't feel I had a full right to make an opinion. But, as someone that has been on this list for 3 years now (my, the time flies! I feel so old!) I think it's time I spoke at last :) Being an EDA is not about Jewel. This group has always been very special to me, because it is a group of caring people. People that care about others, about the world, about people. Ok, so we all happen to like Jewel. She is a fine artist, she makes great music, no argument there. But beyond that, I think the majority- if not the total- of people on this list have a lot more in common. This list isn't about knowing which size Jewel's shoes are, it's about us trying to be better people, and so making the world a little better. It's about giving. Being an EDA is something that we all do differently. We each have our own little special way to be kind, to help. that, to me, is what being an EDA is about. So, now that I've said it, I shall go back to my quiet weekend lurks :) ===== "If music be the food of love-play on!" ~~Abby~~ The Rare angel * * {\o/} * * * /_\ * "My heart's filled with thunderstorms, And i'm ready to burst" *Jewel* Visit the EDA poetry page: http://www.geocities.com/rareangel12/RApoetry.html AIM: rareangel12 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 09:59:21 -0700 From: "Sara" Subject: * alittle about me. Hello Angels! After reading the posting from Rowdy, I realized that I've been on this list for about a year, and I don't really know anyone on this list, and that is most likely my own fault. I don't post to often only if there is something that is is regards to Jewel that I figure everyone would like to know about. But after reading Rowdy's post I decided to share Jewel influnced info about me. ~smile~ generally I am a HUGE music fan. I particuarlly love Jewel and Fiona Apple. and I've written poetry, ..and I can sing half way decently, but I've never been able to understand people go about writing songs. I just had absolutely no clue how they did it! Particularly melodies. But recently after a personal drama with stupid boy, I've kinda fallen into a slight depression...and I've actually written a few songs. and they are GOOD! ..at least 2 of them are I sing one of them all the time! Now,..don't think I'm comparing it to Jewel or Fiona, it's no where near that good, But they inspired me. Woman who are strong mind, and opinionated. They do and write what they want and don't let the music industry push them around. Plus on top of that they are drop dead gorgeous! They are so inspiring. Coming from a very difficult life and and achieving so many of their dreams. wow. so. that's alittle about me. ~smile~ Sare the Angel with a paintbrush. - --- I thought he was a man but he was just a little boy. ~Fiona Apple. Radio Shack will also be funding "Music In High Places," an international television series that takes top recording artists to the most sacred sites on Earth. The show is designed to be "National Geographic for the MTV Generation," marrying great music and adventure with the wonders of lost civilizations. A portion of the proceeds from this series will be donated to UNESCO, a branch of the United Nations that raises money to protect sacred sites around the world. Jewel is scheduled to film one of the first episodes this summer. JeweLink and our jeweljk.com calendar will keep you informed as Jewel's involvement in this unique program progresses and broadcast information becomes finalized. Our talented photo team was let loose on NYC during Jewel's recent visit there and jeweljk.com will be featuring these new images from Jewel's performance as well as "behind the scenes" adventures for you to enjoy in the weeks to come. Every Tuesday, jeweljk.com changes the photographs featured on our photo page, so remember to check them weekly. We provide you with new Jewel images found nowhere else every week! Now onto some fun that needs your thoughtful input! In my area, our PBS station has a program on Sunday mornings called "Ask The Manager." Viewers can call or email questions related to the station which the manager then answers on the air. In an effort to answer some of the questions many of you may have and to simply initiate some interactive fun into our JeweLink proceedings, Jewel's mother and manager Lenedra Carroll invites you to participate in an "Ask The Manager" question and answer session with her this weekend. If you would enjoy submitting a question to Lenedra, please do so by emailing your question to AskLenedra@jeweljk.com. Please include your name so that we may credit your question should it be one that she answers. For the next 48 hours only, questions will be accepted. All we ask is that everyone please limit themselves to ONE question. Questions will only be accepted through early Sunday evening, at which time that email address will be terminated. As of now, you have two days to email Lenedra your question at AskLenedra@jeweljk.com. So join in the fun and participate in this opportunity. While it will be impossible to answer every question, we look forward to hearing from you. We'll include some of your questions along with Lenedra's answers in upcoming JeweLink messages. I went to a Worcester, MA radio shack with loads of Jewel posters (mind you, the SAME Jewel poster) everywhere, hanging up, inside and outside, and they wouldn't give me one! I offered to buy one too and they still wouldn't give me one. Anyway, any Angels who have been told "no" by the Radio Shack employees? I bet. Couldn't they spare just one?!? Arghh. Anyway,to all the people taht took it wrong I'm sorry.I never meant to cause a bunch of rumors or flack or anything like that. I posted cause I thought it would have been so cool if Jewel were ya knwo...So there was no harm meant,I just want to make that clear. And thank you very much to the people who have been kind enough to drop me a line and even post ,I think they understood what I meant. Thanks everyone for your info and input, its appreciated. I just never meant to cause any harm.So I'm sorry, let's move on :) Aimee the angel who can't decide on an angel name ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 22:11:12 EDT From: PiecesofKate34@aol.com Subject: * question about video hey angels, I was at Radio Shack today trying to convince them to give me the tape of the concert, and the guy was like, "I checked up on that for you and due to copyright business we can't allow you to have the tape."
