He's... strange, to put it nicely. (Sorta dorky, to put it not-so-nicely.) One time I was in there, I heard him say to a trainee, "Don't lower your head at the same time someone else does, you'll bump heads!" (Um. Duh? ) That, and he always wants to talk, and, of course, sell me something I really don't want/need/etc. So really, that guy would be the only reason I wouldn't go. (Though if it really was on VHS... I might call and ask for a copy. ;) ) Anyhoo. Saw a part of ACL tonight. Think I missed the first 10 minutes, though. ): What I did see, though, was fantastic!! It really reminded me of the Spirit tour concert I went to nearly a year ago. (Hard to believe it's been that long, but that's fodder for another post!) Hardly seemed like a television appearance! :) I'm going to check my PBS station's web site to see if they're planning to rerun it anytime soon. (I hope so!!!!) So anyway... It's 11:34pm... I'm tired. Probably why I'm rambling on so much!! Night, EDAs!! I can't rememebr th set list, but I'm sure someone will or has posted it, so don't worry. There were no EDA's at my Radio Shack, so I sat and ate my jellybeans and drank my Yoo Hoo and watched Jewel allone(well, except for the customers running in and out, and staff). The guys up there couldn't get the Direct TV thingy to work, but there was a video tape of it, so you paople that didn't see it, ask someone up there if you can get it. Anyways, I'll try to recall a set list. Hmm, my fav. song played first, I remember that at least. First, it was Near You Always, followed by som talking, and Deep Water(wait, it may have been Deep Water, then talking, oh well), Whats Simple Is True, (past this point, it's just a list, not any certain order, someone help me on this), Hands, Down So Long, YWMFM, some new song(friggin awesome song), LMJLMA, I forget what else, and it ended on WWSYS with the scat and "When the kitty needs love it goes meow meow meow" ending. I never heard WWSYS stretched out so long and I think some of the scat scared the customers, but I was in heaven. Anyways, it was really cool, but I was kinda suprised that I saw no fans up there or anyhting. Oh well, I got popcorn and a poster. Thanks for reading my post and as you can see I'm just babbling, so I will leave you do do whatever it is you are doing at the time(eating, reading, looking at Jewel stuff, listening to Jewel, whatever), goodnight. (and a note about bearsville 2000) hey guys, well, i just got home from a very long and tiring train ride back from nyc. some moron at penn station decided to try to hang onto the outside of the train as it departed, which delayed us over 30 minutes while new york city's finest came down and removed him. only in new york i guess. ;) at least the radio shack thingy was cool. way too short, and the sound sucked (i'm guessing it was b/c of the tv's, not the actual concert). but at least i came away with a couple posters and enough bags of popcorn to make my co-workers happy for a week. is that stuff actually edible? thanks again to kelli for arranging it all... it was great to see some old friends again... and meet some new ones. :) see you guys in bearsville next month! speaking of bearsville... i will be coordinating angel needs a ride this year, so if anyone is planning on going and needs a ride (or is willing to offer one), i will be posting shortly with all the details, as soon as i get everything arranged with mr. mike. tom :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 06:55:06 EDT From: LeFideal@aol.com Subject: * Re: jewel-digest V5 #172 i'm really not trying to start an argument, but i thought the radioshack concert was a big disappointment, i psyched myself up to see the new song stephenville, and was really, the only word i can think of is disappointing, violet eyes was beautiful, but i couldnt hear it because of the salespeople in the store, i thought the show was much too mellow, and the only thing they played was things you hear on the radio about 8 millions times, the good thing is i got a ton of extra posters, if anyone is interested let me know alie the faerie princess angel ps-please dont send hate mail to me or whatever, this is just my personal opinion and im not forcing it on anyone else ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 08:03:11 EDT From: ERINSN00PY@aol.com Subject: * Extra jewel posters Hiya Angles, I went to the radioshack concert last night, and asked an employe for a poster. He gave me over fifty. If any of you who missed the concert would like one, just send me an e mail. Anyway he did say that they might have a copy in the store for instore play and they were expecting to get a DVD of it in later this month sometime. Unless you know someone who works at RS i dont think it will be very easy to get a copy of it =( He also was talking about how that being the only one there RS targeted the wrong audience(younger audience who dont really want home entertainment systems) , and they originally wanted Paul Mcartney but he wouldnt do it, so they got Jewel to. I dont know if this is true but thats what he said. Has anyone got a copy of the show? ~Adina =) The butterfly angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 09:18:27 EDT From: JewelAng@aol.com Subject: * Violet Eyes on MP3 or RA? "violet eyes" was so pretty. . .did anyone detect a hint of joni mitchell in that? i did! just the way she told the story and some of the melodies she'd written. and "love me just leave me alone" (i've never heard that song before -- i'm angelfoodless) was very melissa etheridge-ish. i like the fact that jewel is so diverse in her writing styles yet they always remain her own. know what i mean? again, thanks guys! nancy Hey everyone! The concert that was taped was sent out to all Radio Shacks as I suspected, as a promo. It's just your basic run of th emill VHS tape which they commonly use for weekly employee meetings and stuff like that - so Radio Shack figured that would be the easiest way for the promotion, to use the tapes. Also, there are a lot of Radio Shacks that are located in large malls, not just shopping centers and strips, and they're unable to get a DirecTv feed in their location, so a video tape is the only way they can be a part of the Jewel thing. This explains why some places had the feed and others didn't. Also, there's no way anyone can get a DVD of this as it was only mastered on VHS - it's not some exclusive major thing, I believe it's just a promotional thing and they're not going to turn it into an actual media product. I don't know of any DVD-burners being sold at Radio Shack, so unfortunately that is out of the question :/ So, seeing as how it really is on VHS, I dont' see what the problem would be in acquiring copies. I know for a fact the Jewel concert will be being re-broadcast at the stores with DirecTv for the rest of the month, so possibly if you can woo your local Radio Shack salesperson, they can hook up the VCR and record something for you. :) Anyone in north jersey? go to the Preakness Radio Shack in wayne and bother my buddy Eric.. he might just hook ya up.. Thanks all! :) - -Linda p.s. i'm secretly wanting to watch this concert cuz those lyrics for violet eyes just pique my interest! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 10:19:48 EDT From: Buster2530@aol.com Subject: * My RS concert tape...... EDA's, I just noticed something while watching my copy of the RS concert that I got last night. Remember in between each song where in like red or blue, the RCA and radio shack logos would come, then the next song would immediately proceed that? Well....that's not the case with my tape for some reason. After most songs, she would like put her guitar down, and talk with the audience. (she even told the story about meeting steve poltz). Does anyone else have this? if not, wow i'm lucky.
