But I was sooo happy they re-aired it last night at midnight on a different channel! It was on WLIW Long Island, NY which is 21 for me. So I taped it while staying up to watch her perform the first two NEW songs!!! OMG!!! Let me tell ya somethin about Stevensville!!! Its like her telling us a story about what her life is like now -- so now i know she is living in Texas with her honey Ty and she's in love... aaaaawwwwhhhh!!! I'm going to go to the one in Santa Clara on El Camino. All the other bay area EDA's are so spread out there's no way we could get together in one spot by 7pm on a Thursday! (Traffic is impossible in the bay area). Some notes from the Radio Shack person I talked to: The broadcast is in HDTV but Radio Shack will not have any HDTV sets now! You'll just see it in plain old TV resolution. It is a DirectTV broadcast but I believe everyone is locked out except for the Radio Shack stores. (Like they can block HBO if you don't subscribe, etc.) Check with your local Radio Shack store. Some can't receive the satellite signal due to location, trees whatever blocking the line of sight to the satellite. BYOC (bring your own chair.) The concert will be about an hour long. (I don't know how much of that will be Jewel vs. commercials!) If you miss it, the posters say it will be rebroadcast throughout this month. Though she is not on tour, but rather penning new material from her Texas home, the pop-folk singer performed as part of a concert co-sponsored by RCA and Radio Shack. The concert will be broadcast on televisions in Radio Shack stores beginning Thursday and will run until the end of the month. Opening the show for the crowd of 300 was singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett. The Texan performed some of his older songs, including "If I Had a Boat," off 1988's Pontiac, and "Good Intentions," from Lyle Lovett and His Large Band (1989). Jewel, whose most recent release was Joy: A Holiday Collection, in December, performed a set of hits that included "You Were Meant for Me," "Foolish Games" and "Who Will Save Your Soul" (RealAudio excerpt) from her debut album, Pieces of You (1995). She then moved on to more upbeat hits, such as "Down So Long" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Deep Water," as well as the more folk-oriented "What's Simple Is True," from her sophomore release, Spirit (1998). "My voice is kind of hoarse tonight," Jewel said between songs. "Sorry about those high notes." Nevertheless, the 25-year-old singer, looking decidedly sophisticated in an orange silk dress and black high heels, was energetic and in high spirits as she strapped on an electric guitar to belt out a new, rock-country tune that took her into Bonnie Raitt territory. Other new offerings included a Bob Dylan-esque folk song about living (and loving) in Texas, as well as a ballad that Jewel told the audience was about a friend who recently died of cancer. The concert was part of a special RCA-Radio Shack promotion to announce that Radio Shack is now selling RCA digital audio and video products. The alliance of the two companies will kick off with an international music series called "Music in High Places," which films musicians playing at international sites such as Peru's Machu Picchu and Egypt's Great Pyramids. So i get to radio shack, and im the only person there!!! O.K. iwill admit, i wasn't real surprised, but still ya know? so i felt a little on the goofy side, and asked to see a car lighter tester thing. So the guy helped me, and stuff. I laughed and stood in front of the tv as he spoke to me. I guess he realized i was a jewel fan (had my black spirit tour shirt on) and he got me a chair and gave me popcorn. Then he gave me the poster. As i was watching the show, my cell phone rings and my mom says she got me a poster too. (two posters for amanda) and i finished watching the show. I must admit it was great. She looked beautiful, and so relaxed. The show was nice, and the backdrops were great. It was just so quiet, like even love me just leave me alone was quiet. Not as rockin' and pumped as she usually is. But still.. it was wonderful. WWSYS was so much fun. Violet eyes... her new song, was INCREDIBLE. that has to be one of my favorite jewel tunes now. ANyway, so i leave radio shack, and head to the one near my house, where my mother got the poster from. SO i walk in the they (people who worked there)were all sitting in little chairs that said "reserved for jewel concert" and each chair had popcorn. I looked at the new cell phones, and mentioned the jewel poster. So they guy goes! "WE GOT ONE!!!!" and practically flagged people down to point to me. Noone shoed up for the concert there either. So he turned on the satelite, where they were replaying the whole show, and we sat and watched it again. Then i got another poster. So, I have 2 extra posters *grin* *watching every eda who didnt get to go hit the reply button as fast as they check their email tonight* Heh, well, I am going to offer the poster to EDA's who are outside of the USA.
