Mike - List manager/owner *********** Virus Alert: "I Love You" Email Virus A deadly computer virus has hit computers in Asia and Europe and is spreading like wildfire across the United States via email messages. The virus, which includes the message "I Love You" or "Love Letter" in the email subject line, was first spotted in Asia early this morning. The virus arrives in an email that includes an attachment called "Love-Letter-For-You," and targets users of Microsoft Outlook to send messages with the virus to every person listed in that user's address book. Once opened, the email virus overwrites existing local script and HTML files, as well as picture and music files, with its own code. Files with extensions.jpg," .jpeg, .mp3 and .mp2 are overwritten. To protect yourself against "I Love You," do not open any messages with the subject "I Love You" or "Love Letter" or any other suspicious attachments. Delete these messages immediately and download the latest version of your antivirus software. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 04 May 2000 09:03:18 EDT From: "Devin Starr" Subject: * eda writers Hey Angels Im building my web page.. Hi All, In a few days, thousands of Jewel's online fans who've previously made contact with JMerch (the jeweljk.com store) will be receiving a postcard in the mail containing some free Jewel stickers. This postcard will say: "Your Invitation To A Very Special Event" We want to personally invite each and every EDA to our special event, so here's the information, in advance, for everyone here. Beginning Wednesday May 17th, Auctions.com will host the first time ever official JEWEL AUCTION to benefit Higher Ground For Humanity (HGH). This is your chance to bid on many very collectible Jewel items including rare tapes (Yes, we have several REAL "Shiva Diva Doo Wop" cassettes!!), rare CDs (including staff-only 1998 Christmas CDs with UNRELEASED MUSIC and "Save The Linoleum"!), rare t-shirts (yes, some original Jewelstock t-shirts from Lenedra's private stash), Jewel's surfboard, her mountain bike and the list goes on and on!! A little over three years ago, just before I officially took over the day to day operations of the Jewel/EveryDay Angels list, the previous EDA list manager (Jeff Wasilko, who happens to also own smoe.org) decreed that auctions and such were tabooed on this list and the other smoe.org lists. The reason was simple. He pays all the bills for smoe.org (over $200 monthly back then) and he did not want others profiting off of his resources. Fair enough :-) While some of the owners of other smoe.org lists are lax in enforcing this decree, I have not been (as many of you do know). Whenever a post regarding any auctions of anything what-so-ever comes in, including posts auctioning or flat-rate selling items on Ebay and similar sites, I write the person back explaining the reasons behind the list policy forbidding such things. I also mention that the policy is in effect "with very few exceptions". Actually, there was one exception and that exception happened today. ( I had always figured that one day Jewel and/or her management would have an official auction for a charitable cause) I mention this today solely to "head off at the pass" any other/future auction posts that are not officially related to Jewel and her management. (i.e. please do not take the Jewel Auction as a "green light" for you to post auctions/Ebay etc. ). Hoping some EDAs get some real neat stuff at the auction, Mike - EDA list manager/owner/big cheese * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * Need some Angelfood? (Many of you requested the free demo tape some time ago. All of you will also receive the full album in a hand lettered and signed cassette version). Choose 3 Song titles and send them to Rizioule@hotmail.com Dream of Love 2 Jewelsong Moonlight Serenade Dream of Love 3 SugarGrove Not in Love Anymore? I Wonder Also to be eventually included in the album will be one of my newest songs "Stay With Me" and also the Original "Dream of Love " "From the "Dream of Love" trilogy, to the haunting and mysterious artwork that accompanies the CD, "Dream of Love" is a Concept Album in every sense of the word. It recounts a long ago dream of pure love in a world where strong spirits may learn to fly and then to soar, and a mans fear, hope and faith in finding this dream of love and learning to fly in a world where gravity, fear and greed have pinned mans spirit like "a live butterfly pinned to a page." The initial recording was made Dec. 23rd and 24th 1998 at Grapevine Studios in Nashville Tennessee, in the middle of a freezing ice storm that kept us trapped in the studio without food. I made one cassette copy from the master tapes at the studio for my own listening, and this was given to Jewels mom at the Gathering of Angels June 26th 1999, so I haven't been able to listen to it since then. The master was finally mixed down by the incredibly talented Larry Mitchell last week and mastered this week in San Diego. ( Larry is considered one of the worlds finest guitarists, He plays with Tracy Chapman and has done shows and tours with many of music's greatest artists, including Sting, Billy Squire and many others. He also won last years Jazz/Pop Artist of the year at the San Diego Music Awards. Look for an article and Interview with Larry in an upcoming issue of my new magazine "San Diego Nightlife and Entertainment News"). Well, thanks to all of you who actually read all of this, I hope you enjoy the music!
