Hope everyone is doing well. I suspect a few EDAs ventured away from their computers during Mike's list shutdown & discovered there's a whole wide world out there! ;-) Ok, on to some news & info: First, in reply to zanita@webtv.com who posted: >Hoping to debut her new glossy, O: The Oprah Magazine, with the proper >fanfare, the talk-show diva will be host at a launch party next Monday >at the Manhattan Pavilion on W. 18th St. ...snip... Jewel is expected there, too. >The singer has written a piece for O's debut issue that is based on the >diaries she's kept since childhood. For those in NYC planning on trying to catch a glimpse of Jewel at this, don't bother. She is NOT attending & will be nowhere near NYC. However, for those who'd enjoy reading a little "sneak preview" of Jewel's next book (tentatively titled "Chasing Down The Dawn: Life Stories by Jewel"), there will indeed be an excerpt published in this new "O" magazine. This premiere issue of "O" includes an article focused on journal writing in general. Jewel contributed a "book excerpt" of her own journal writing, which is featured as part of this article. This new magazine, published by Oprah Winfrey, hits newstands & bookstores this Wednesday April 19th & should be easily available. Last Wednesday, Jewel was in NYC. She performed several songs at a fundraising charity event. The event was put on by Cable Positive with all proceeds going to AIDS research. Many people are still writing me asking me about Jewel TV broadcasts. This is one area where I will not answer private email. PLEASE check the website calendar. I update it at least once a day & all accurate current info is always there. Even though Jewel is not doing media appearances lately, theres still plenty of repeat broadcasts & segments featuring her, being broadcast. All that info is at your fingertips at jeweljk.com 24 hours a day. Also, I received several (inquiries &) emails saying Jewel recently won a BAMMY Award. No, although she was nominated, she didn't win a BAMMY. (For those wanting to know, the BAMMIES are the Bay Area Music Awards, an annual San Francisco area award show.) Among other cool specials going on at Jewel's website store, they have the second photo in the limited edition autographed series available now. Once again, its an original West Kennerly 8x10 b&w photograph & only 250 of them will be available. All are signed by Jewel & come with a certificate of authenticity. Visit the jeweljk.com website store to view or purchase one. (I checked last week & a handful of Photo #1 in this series were still available. You can email JMerch at customerservice@jeweljk.com with any additional questions.) If you haven't yet, also visit the jeweljk.com contest page. We'll be giving away three autographed copies of the hard to find "Bits & Baubles" CD in this current contest. It costs nothing to enter! Just fill out the form on the contest page & you'll be eligible to win. Also some very interesting news for NY/CT/MA EDAs: The first week of June, the incredibly talented Joy Eden Harrison will be swinging through the area performing at some very intimate venues. I highly recommend anyone in these areas take in these performances. You won't be dissipointed! Joy has never officially toured this area of the country (other than the incredible 1998 Living Room Tour shows) & this is a great opportunity to listen to her in a comfortable setting. Other dates will be announced, but you can mark these three on your calendars: Thursday, June 1: Koffee, New Haven, CT (on Whitney Ave) Saturday, June 3: The Living Room, NYC (how appropriate! ;-) Sunday, June 4: Fire & Water, Northampton, MA As her tour approaches & more confirmed dates are known, I'll keep you informed. These are sure to be wonderful shows! That's it for today. If you all read this, and decide that you really want to have a gathering, email me at ZinzyGurl@aol.com, not on the list, and let me know, b/c I really did want to have a gathering. It wasn't going to be anything spectacular, just some food, music, and drinking for those of you of age. But if I don't get some more replies within a week or so, I will have to call it off. Sorry to those of you who replied to me and who were genuinely interested! Hi everyone, We have the opputunity to do some really great things during the first week in May. Amy and Dennis from the EDAF are coming down that week and are looking to see what the SoCal EDAS are all about. Here's what i propose....May 3rd Jason Mraz is playing a gig in LA that he would like some SoCal support at and you can count on seeing Amy.Dennis and the Vierlings there :) I am working on something special for thurs may 4th that I will talk about should it get off the ground. Friday the 5th we have both the opportunity for a early Newbreak show and an LRC later that night. Alex has offered his house up for an LRC that week and hopefully with enough emails to DMBear978@aol.com we can pesuade him that Friday night is the way to go ;) Then Saturday the 6th I thought we could descend on the OC foodbank as it is a little bit more central to the areas that most of us live in. Then the 7th in LA Lisa Sanders is playing a gig in LA that she would also like some support at ..... Hi, It's Duff and I have begun to set up a series of Living Room Tours for July through October and you should sign up! - ----------------------------- I am currently working with Stephanie Hewett to hear her music via MP3 or more infor check out her website at www.stephaniehewett.com. There are some people born into this world with a special talent as a musician. As the years pass, life seeks to find this talent and ignite its expression. For Stephanie, music lives inside her spirit and is released through thythm and harmony of her songs. Born in rural Kansas Stephanie grew up in a small farming community. She began piano lessons at age 5 and drew inspiration from jazz and rock classics, the sound Stephanie would later claim as her own was emerging. It was during college that longed to leave the orchestra, where she played a bass, and let loose to experiment without boundaries. Stephanie broke away from what she felt were the stiff rules of standard music and is currently working on a new album due out this summer. - ------------------------------- A Living Room Show is an informal concerts, usually in people's homes, where 20 or more people can sit comfortably to enjoy an initmate concert.
