My angel kin, Tonight I was fortunate enough to catch that sneak preview of the new David Duchovny/Minnie Driver romantic comedy, "Return to Me." Now, I'd pay to watch David Duchovny read the phone book for two hours, so I went to see this movie despite the fact that I'd heard it was sappy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I genuinely enjoyed it, *and* there was an added bonus: during one scene, "Angel Standing By" is played! My jaw clanked open, because Jewel was the *last* person I'd expected to hear in that theatre. Well, i remember in 1997 when Jewel was so "in" with the popular crowd that i was almost saying to myself "oh no! I hope she doesn't stay a teeny bopper!" And my wish didn't come true, because the sound of music changed, and , like most people, those who were popular changed their tastes in music....those people let the media change their tastes...in a few years they are going to be embarassed to like Backstreet Boys and Nsync (NOW NO OFFENSE TO THOSE WHO LIKE THEM NOW< BUT I THINK MOST OF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) I remember the New Kids on the block and how today noone will admitt that they were in love with them because now that's cheesy, and even now MTV just made a "boy band" movie called "2gether" where they make fun of the pop band scene. So, anyway, I am really proud of myself and you guys, who were able to find a true musician and hold onto her and not let her go and fade with the pop crowd,.. It just shows that we don't have to conform to popular change.....not that i have anythng against Nsync, but i DO HAVE things against someone who loved Jewel in 1997 and now says she's only for geeks and loves Nsync or any of this genre music now. Please noone take offense, i'm not starting an argument, I'm simply informing others from outside the USA that tv is calling the fans of Jewel "Geeks", then I"m proud to call myself the bigges GEEK of all! I have a special request, the result of which will benefit many list members. I am writing to try to help fellow list member Jodi Damon obtain a crisp clear version of Jewel singing "Break Me" from her appearance on Candice Bergens' show Exhale (from the Oxygen network) which was broadcast in late February. (for those new here, this brand spankin' new song was all the rage on the list in February/March) Jodi is putting together a new Jewel-only angelfood tape for the list (the first NEW one to be treed in OVER three years), and this song is really needed for this tape, which will be treed to the list once ready. ( if you do not know, for more information on "what the heck is a tape tree?", head to http://www.quackquack.net/jewel/tapetree.htm ) Jodi has posted twice trying to get a recording of "Break Me" for this tape, but sadly NO ONE has helped her out.......so here I am! :-) What I want to get is the BEST possible copy for her....and what I need to do that is an original VHS video cassette recorded on a Hi-Fi Stereo VCR from a stereo broadcast of Exhale. (it does NOT have to be a Hi-Fi *TAPE*). I want someone to send *me* their ORIGINAL video tape (I will reimburse the postage)...I will then make a pristine copy of the audio to send to Jodi, and send back the original video tape to whomever sent it to me. As a thank-you bonus, in return I will send the person who sent me the video tape a quality set of the JewelStock Tapes (a 3 tape set). If you already have this set of tapes, we can work out another set of angelfood...I have a fair amount of stuff.
