To my surprise the winner of the most arrogant artist >was Jewel. there reasoning for such an answer was simple, 'she did not >want to pose for our newspaper and she gave arrogant one worded answers >in interviews.' I NO LONGER BUY THERE PAPER I read the interview in question and I have to say that the interviewer was pathetic.. he was asking her very personal and rude questions. From reading the interview you could see how irritated Jewel was with the guy. I think the last question he asked was: When was the last time you really cried? And her response was: None of your business. What a nerve, to ask a question like that. He was also asking her if money had changed her life and other pointless questions. However I dont think it is appropriate to say that Australian reporters hate Jewel.. because really this is only one isolated case. > >as well i've heard many songs by Jewel singing duets with the indigo >girls, sarah mclachlan, merle haggard and melissa etheridge. i was >wondering if anyone here knows if there is a compilation CD of her duets >cause i absolutely love the song 'closer to fine' with the indigo girls. That was a fantastic song with Sarah McLachlan and the Indigo Girls.. I love it. I doubt that there is a compliation cd with all her duets on it though. That statement sounded really selfish.. Jewel has worked her butt off since day one to get her musical career starting.. After touring a couple of years straight she deserves this free time, and who are we to tell her to start back up again.. I understand the anxiousness for new material, but give me a break.. I don't think Jewel would ever tire of music and performing.. I can't say for sure becausa I'm not her, but music seems to ahve been a biug huge part of her life, and she will surely start back up again when she sees fits.. I mean, really, does Jewel seem like the type of person who would sit around not making something that expresses her creativity for too long? I think not.. << So if anybody feels the same let's than start a project to get Jewel again involved in singing for her fans around the world. >> ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 20:05:56 -0500 (EST) From: Jewel510@webtv.net Subject: * Break Me question Lately all i see are Break Me posts.... where is the song from?? I am singing this song at my school's spring musical, and I was in a bad relationship and this song made me realize all that. Maybe our angel isn't giving off the best aura. But with reporters bugging you, and with being on the road nonstop, I wouldn't be cheerful all the time either. So I wish they would chill out and bug off. Gina EastAngel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 21:31:04 EST From: ZinzyGurl@aol.com Subject: * Why are we so concerned? Why do we get so worked up about Jewel taking a couple years off? And really, not even that? Do we all realize that it hasn't been even six months since she released "JOY?" I mean, really, give her some time to relax. If I were her, I would want some time to spend at home. She has a boyfriend, a mother, a father, and family. Give her time. She gave us a great tour last year. A great debut CD. A great sophomore CD. A great holiday collection. An awesome book. And those of you who saw the movie said it was good. And the Exhale interview songs were good also. So let's back off, save she is reading these posts, she might be offended that we are jumping on her tired back because she is chilling out for a while. Doesn't she deserve it? Gina EastAngel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 17:55:51 -0700 From: "dsmcelro" Subject: * where can I find Break Me in Real Audio? What >should >Jewel do and what should we like to see Jewel do?? What I think.... is that Jewel should do what makes Jewel happy. She needs to please herself before she can please anyone else. I don't think its such a huge deal that Jewel hasn't really done any shows since August. 1999 was a very hectic year for her. She deserves some quiet time.... No, not some... but ALOT. We shouldn't be pressuring her to start making a new album, or touring... if we are the everyday angels we claim to be, we should let her have all that much needed rest she needs from the limelight. And whats the rush for a new album? She has a contract with Atlantic. So I'm sure there's at least 1 or 2 more albums for her to release, before her contract runs out. Be patient, fellow angels... Jewel deserves a break... and she deserves to live a normal, quiet life for a while... without being bothered by media. - -cymbaline- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 22:09:27 EST From: "Lorrie Stewart" Subject: * Re: Jewel's musical career over ???? Hello Fellow angels. I don't want to be rude to those of you who have written on this topic... but come on! Jewel's worked hard, she's still working hard... I don't know how many of you are there out there that are writers... but you have to remember that jewel is making a compilation of prose, short stories, and poetry... of her own... this entitles a lot of thought... and for those of you who write, and write well, should know that this doesn't always come natural... this book is expected to be released by the end of this year. I'm sure she's working her butt off to finish it. So jewel hasn't been performing live, this doesn't mean that she's taking a break, she may want to fulfill her dream through other things than just concerts. Words can have a lasting impact on people. Jewel doesn't come around ohio too much... I love her music, and I loved seeing her live... but I have to admit, her poetry is equal... and I can't wait to read what she has to say in essays or short stories. No, Jewel's musical career is not over, and for those of who that think so... I don't get it... Have a little faith in what inspires you. She's got a lot of *spirit* left in her. she'll be back... no doubt. I don't want anyone to get mad at what I just said. It just disappoints me that you guys could lose hope so fast, when she's been there for all of us, for so long.
