I think it's going really well right now I've actually been able to speak to other EDA's already that's great I think I've been to a lot of Jewel chat rooms and there's never no one to speak to. But so far I've been able to talk to at least 10 different EDA's with this chat site and I am very pleased about that. And I've had some e-mails that agree we need official EDA chat site and they would like this one to be it. So do you all want this one to be the official chat site? If you haven't seen it yet definitely go check it out. http://jewel23.homestead.com/chat.html A thing I have had a lot of fun with on this site is the Voice Chat it so cool to hear other people's voices from another country. It's also got people's ALO instant messages screen name's on it so you can get in contact with EDA's if there's no one in the chat room. And ICQ names will be available soon. and if we can get this to be the official chat room site we will be able to have organised times for us all to get to give. So make sure you go and have a look I hope you can get in contact with as many EDA's as I have. and I love feedback off any sort so don't be shy. Bye thanks a lot for reading Matthew http://jewel23.homestead.com/chat.html P.S. it's had a few changes for the better recently so you may need to press refresh on your browser if it's the same as last time you were there. the depends on your browser ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 23:01:30 +1300 From: "Stace" Subject: * Vote for Jewel Hey EDAs, Joe from the Folk-Rock list drew my attention to this. I'm copying the post here. Performing Songwriter Magazine is taking votes on the greatest musical women of the century. Who Are Your Choices For " A Century of Women In Music ? " This year we are paying tribute to women who have affected change in the music industry over this last century . Each issue of 2000 will have our different editors' top choices , but we really want to know who our readers feel have made the greatest impact on the industry . http://www.performingsongwriter.com/pages/framewom.html I truly think Jewel belongs to be one of these "musical women of the century". You all agree?? I'm not suggesting this is a competition i want Jewel to win. I just think it'd be really great to draw the editors attention to our fave artist. Plus you can vote for up to 10 people, so you can add in anyone else who inspires you. It even gives you a little space below where you can write WHY you are voting for the artist. A great chance to tell the world what Jewel means to you! Ginny Owens is an incredible artist - a blind woman who has managed to achieve this beautiful album. A versatile artist, at times her voice sounds like Alanis's, Jewel's and Mariah Carey's. The song moves from the best opener since 'Who Will Save Your Soul' - A traditional Irish hymn called 'Be Thou My Vision' - to the sublime, yet dancey 'Free', through what is now my favorite song ever (yes, even better than 'Break Me' and 'Satellite') - 'If You Want Me To' - through the upbeat and anthemic 'Springs Of Life' and right to the end with the emotional 'Own Me'... Every song is a gem in it's own right. I never thought I would enjoy a religious album so much, but you don't even notice it when you hear Ginny's fantastic voice and the beautiful arrangements of the songs... This album will make you cry, dance, smile and think. Ginny should have so much to be sad about, but she's managed to bring this masterpiece to the world, and it *should* be a number one album worldwide. I urge you all to buy this album, no matter what music you like. I know anyone in the world will be able to find the powerfulness and emotion in this album to your liking, and it's something nobody should miss out on. Ginny Owens - 'Without Condition'. The best album of all time? I think so ;)... What is her mind up to and what does she want to accomplish after the huge succeses of Spirit, Pieces of You and the tv appereances and not to forget her first poetrybook A night without armor. Has Jewel still the drive or does she reload the battery to start beautiful projects in the near future? I think it is really a long time ago that Jewel has been working so quietly and that we receive so less information about Jewel's activities lately. I can understand if she slows down a bit, but to stay informed about Jewel's world and dreams always fascinates me a lot..... What is up with Jewel's ambition to sing for audiences?? We all know that Jewel had a busy schedule in 1999 with a lot of concerts for her record Spirit. But since August hasn't she done a lot of shows to be honest. Is Jewel still motivated to write songs and to release a record? Or has her vision about the life on the road changed??? What i saw and heard of Jewel in the Oxygen show you really should think that Jewel's considering what do to in the near future??? Has anybody an idea what will happen?? Shall Jewel release a new record, shall she maybe give concerts??? I was told that the fans in Alaska could have expect new concerts of Jewel somewhere soon in the Spring of 2000 but so far no dates are being confirmed.. Has Jewel lost her hunger and passion to sing for crowds. I still think Jewel is an artist who is so very capable of entertaining and give love by her music to the fans. So if anybody feels the same let's than start a project to get Jewel again involved in singing for her fans around the world. Please give response to this issue all you eda's out there. What should Jewel do and what should we like to see Jewel do?? To my surprise the winner of the most arrogant artist was Jewel. there reasoning for such an answer was simple, 'she did not want to pose for our newspaper and she gave arrogant one worded answers in interviews.' I NO LONGER BUY THERE PAPER as well i've heard many songs by Jewel singing duets with the indigo girls, sarah mclachlan, merle haggard and melissa etheridge. i was wondering if anyone here knows if there is a compilation CD of her duets cause i absolutely love the song 'closer to fine' with the indigo girls. lastly i was hoping if anyone can help me tracking down a song called 'here when gone' by Jewel. What CD is it on? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 18:44:58 -0500 From: MrBB Subject: * MrBB-New Jeweljk.com content including BREAK ME lyrics! Hi all, As we've been doing every week, there's brand new photos at jeweljk.com, but there's also two other NEW things I know many of you will be interested in. First, our newest guest artists are up. This time, we bring you performance poets Harold Branch III and Aaron Kabir Celious aka Unspoken Word, a two man team committed to sparking social change through the power of poetry. I know we have a lot of people interested in poetry here & you should check out their work. Fully loaded language that's dangerously true! I hope many of you checked out our last guest artists Cowboy Junkies while they were just on tour here in the US (primarily east coast). They're now recording a new album back in Toronto, but they'll be on the west coast this summer. A great band very worthy of your attention! We're keeping an ongoing archive of "guest artists" at jeweljk.com so if you are curious about musicians like Steve Poltz & Joy Eden Harrison, as well as other artists we highly recommend, enjoy this feature & the links it'll help you explore. For those still interested in the original West Kennerly photograph of Jewel (autographed by Jewel), JMerch only has a few dozen left, so don't wait much longer. These were limited edition photographs & will not be printed again. You'll also find a lot of "price drop specials" going on now at the Jewel Store. Too many to mention so have a look around. Not that any of you would need these, but the Jewel store does now carry all three of Jewel's albums: Pieces Of You, Spirit & Joy. You'll also find both home video releases, including "Jewel: A Life Uncommon" (now only $14.95!) & Joy (aka Sessions). And finally, by popular demand, we have added (for the first time anywhere!) the accurate lyric transcription to the song that seems to be blowing minds of EDAs everywhere: "Break Me" Just navigate to the lyrics page at jeweljk.com & there it is. It's already up on both highend versions & should be on lowend by days end. Correct all those lyric transcriptions out there & enjoy! Also, Juliet knows this already, but I never meant to discourage anyone from trying to transcribe lyrics or insult anyone for trying. My one & only point was simply to encourage anyone who had the Exhale interview to transcribe THAT as a next top priority of EDA interest. I'm telling you, it's by far the most intriguing interview Jewel has done in years & I simply hoped everyone here could enjoy it if someone who had the video would take the time to transcribe it. Yes, its a big job, but one that I'm sure would be appreciated by all the EDAs unable to receive the show. Hopefully some thoughtful EDA is getting this together as you read this, hint, hint. ;-) Have a good night & great weekend all!
