Also, I know >it's Patti Smith's, but is Patti Smith the one who >wrote Dancing Barefoot or was it someone else??? Hi Mirko (& anyone else with the same questions), Yes, Patti Smith wrote Dancing Barefoot. For Jewel, this song first surfaced at RockFest 97, a huge Texas bash in June that many EDAs attended. It remained in Jewel's repertoire for the Lilith Fair gigs that followed. She played it every night of Lilith Fair & then sporadically for the rest of 1997. It was performed a total of 26 times that year & not performed since. Ah! The wonder of databases! I have Exhale, but I do not have time to run any sort of tree, so here is what I am prepared to do: Barry: send me your address. You win a free NTSC copy courtesy of me. You may choose from VHS or 8mm (not Hi8: I can copy into it, but the signal quality of my cableTV service isn't there, and my masters are regular 8mm and VHS). I will cover postage. Congrats. :) If anyone is willing to run the tree (or vine, or whatever organizational model), contact me. I am willing to provide around a half dozen copies direct from my master to serve as seed tapes. Worst Case: If no one is able to run an organized tree, I will post a call for dubbers. Volunteers able and willing to make copies would reply to me with the contact info they want people to use and their postal mail address for me to send tapes. I will get send copies out as fast as I can, and post to the list (or maybe announce a URL) with the contact info for the volunteers. People can then contact the dubbers to arrange individually for copies. This is MESSY and I'd rather avoid it, so I hope someone volunteers to run things. The only reason I think I can handle any of this is that I'm going to pre-copy the tapes onto blanks I already have (TDK EHG). You do NOT need to send me tapes unless you want to donate to the cause. I've been fortunate enough to be financially comfortable right now and unfortunate enough not to have time to do much with it (possibly a partial cause as to why I still have some money) -- such is working for an internet startup. :) Now, if anyone wants to send me any other jewel recordings (audio or video), I'll be happy to accept. :) Ray Wong PO BOX 6163 negativl at best.com, negativl at netcom.com Hayward, CA 94540-6163 Member #11537, Deborah Gibson International Fan Club Co-Founder and Charter Member, Sutton Foster International Fan Club ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2000 12:19:32 EST From: Minnie822@aol.com Subject: * Re: jewel-on nick...and the exhale video hey angels-- does anybody know when jewel will be on nick news??? i've been lookin' but haven't seen it...oh well...hey can some body who taped the exhale thing email me and tell me what happened writing hands the angel missin montana and lookin for a miracle ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2000 05:48:06 -0600 From: "Systemrip" Subject: * Exhale video tree/vine Well so far, I've tried to talk to people about getting it started but it seems that the people with original copies aren't talking much. It's going about as well as the Dallas/Texas EDA gathering (which isn't from what I can tell). So I'll say it again, if you have an original copy, I got two VCRs. Talk to me and I'll see what I can do about trading or something and then I'll worry about getting the other copies out if you don't want to mess with it. So is their a proper chat room for us to go to. If there isn't how would you Angels feel about making this one it http://jewel23.homestead.com/chat.html Could you all please go there and have a good look around. And if all you Angels like it maybe you all consider making it the EDA's officials chat site or something. of course decision up to you all to decide. He's not on this list anymore because of not having enouge time, but he wanted me to share this: I told you already that Jewel's ex-boyfriend (Sean Penn) is the brother of Aimee Manns husband (Michael Penn). Well during their encore, they sang the sonny and cher song, I got you Babe. and michael did a sonny impression, but aimee didn't try. And then Micheal Penn said: You know, you don't need to get the Cher impression down, just do a Jewel impression. It's the same thing. Jewel kinda has the Cher thing going on.. This is an amazing coincidence to me. For years I envisioned Jewel and Steve Poltz recording "The Beat Goes On" and/or performing it live on tour. I almost suggested it to MrBB last summer for the Spirit tour....I think it would have been a highlight moment for some of the shows. Can't you just picture Jewel & Steve having a hit covering that song? Mike :-) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #88 **************************
