Well, the best version I've heard/seen was the one played at the West Palm Beach concert last year. Steve Poltz was there backing her up and it was just such a strong performance of the song. They were one again on stage. You could see them getting closer and closer and at one point Steve leaned in to kiss Jewel but she swayed away and he ended up kissing her check. It was truly a wonderful performance (vocally and musically) and it was so powerful. Perhaps others who were there will agree with me.. I am new to the list, and I would just like to say that it's great, everyone seems so friendly, and we all come together on the common ground that we are fans of Jewel, just to discover how different we all really are! Also, I am interested in starting a Jewel Fan site, I know there are all so many of them, but I was thinking I could start a page based on the song "Break Me", I was just wondering what site builder would be the best to post audio files for free, is there a place good for that? Well, I can't wait to hear more about Jewel, and hear from all of you. How come for things such as that, the song of the artist is always one of their hit singles? I mean, grant it I love WWSYS and some of the other songs, but I know all those artists performed a bunch of others, so how come the producers or whoever it is won't put any of those on? Is it just because they think it won't sell as well? And like at Sessions, they made Jewel sing WWSYS and YWMFM knowing those were the only 2 non-Christmas songs (well, not counting Gloria and such) that they were going to air. I'd like it if somebody put out one of these compilation albums with some of the artists other music..mix it up a bit. amy *the raindrop angel* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 22:03:35 EST From: Nubbay@aol.com Subject: * "Break Me" Does anyobne have the lyrics or audio for this song? Since then all these things have happened and you guys deserve and update. Sarah and I dont get to talk everyday, but we remain very close. I finally got that job at Sam Goody Music!! Heck yeah! I've began writing. After reading Jewel's writtings it made we want to write, but I had nothing to say. Then I met Jade, an EDA. She has inspired me and I have now written 2 poems. My little muse *sigh* I miss her. I hope I can talk to her soon. *shakes it off, back to the EDA letter Eliot* Both of my poems have been sent to my school's magazine. I'm hoping they get published. If you wanna read them let me know... Finally, I am going to take up guitar this summer. I cant even read music. Ah well. I didnt think I could write, but everybody says I have talent. Maybe guitar will work the sameway. Any advise for a newbie? I think I could use it. I wrote to them last month, unfortunately i only read it today. I hope this issue will be cleared. Darwin The reply: Hi! This is Shelly Kearns, Christina Aguilera's mother. I sort all of the emails that arrive here before forwarding them on to Christina. I can probably answer your letter faster than Christina will be able to reach it, so I hope you don't mind. No, Christina never was part of that list (or any list, actually). I did ask her and she had neverheard of it, so it's definately a rumor and not at all true about her having joined the list. Thanks so very much for taking the time to write. We appreciate your support so much. List Moderator Note: Darwin sent me the headers for this email reply he received. I traced it and It came from their only official email address (according to their official web site) and it originated from an Internet Service Provider which is just 5 miles from the town where Christina and her mom live. I truly believe that this email he received did in fact come from Chrstina's mother. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 20:25:22 EST From: FolkChick69@aol.com Subject: * NJC: Im back with a different name & need updates :o) Hey... (snip) how > come the producers or whoever it is won't put any of those on? I was asking myself this same question, but it had to do with radio. Mix 98.5 in Boston has an all-request 80s and 90s lunch, and their slogan is "Today's Best Variety". The other day, I called in to request Sarah McLachlan's Good Enough, and the guy refused to play it becuase it wasn't a hit (even though it WAS a single). He told me: "No hits, no ratings". Unfortunately, that's what the business is about nowadays, and it's depressing. I was all bent out of shape about the whole I'm-not-gonna-play-Good Enough-because-it-wasn't-a-hit thing, but I'm already over it...I think. I guess this relates to why VH1 is only putting popular songs on the Storytellers album because they feel as though they will not get good ratings, or whatever, if they don't put what they *think* pleases everyone. I don't know, it's something like that:) - -Nicole angel on horseback visit http://get.to/fly_from_here "I only hope that I won't disappoint you"~Sarah McLachlan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Mar 2000 05:11:15 GMT From: "~* cymbaline *~" Subject: * "No Hit, No Play" Nicole wrote that a radio station wouldn't play Sarah McLachlan's "good enough", because it wasn't a hit. But... correct me if I'm wrong... doesn't a song gain popularity, and "top 40" staus... when it is played? I never once heard Whats Simple is True on the radio. I guess thats because the song wasn't popular.... but.. how can the song NOT be popular? They didn't play it enough to gain popularity. I heard Jupiter twice on the radio... and that was during the overnights. All these other singers/bands/teenyboppers are having single after singl come out, and they all become hits. And some of these people seem to have one song a month hit the stations. The radio doesn't play whats popular.... they just play what they wanna play... and what they THINK people wanna hear... and thats all that makes a song popular... constant airplay... no variety....
