I was reading Amazon.com reviews of Spirit to see what people thought of it, and I came across this review in the editorial section where they have the critics words.. It says it's from WEA/Atlantic.. What's this about provocative, adult-oriented Jewel pictures? Was this actually planned? It sounds fake, and if so it needs to be taken off their page.. I don't know.. Can someone find out? We here at Wea/Atlantic are amazed by the wonderful reviews Jewel's new album is recieving. "Spirit" was intended to be a simple fan album, and wasn't really directed towards the masses. Our entire staff was initially wary at how it would be accepted, considering the melancholy, brooding theme of "Spirit." However, we were pleasantly surprised by how the public embraced the deep aspects of Jewel's newest release. In addition, we suggest for all the Jewel fans out there to keep their eyes open for a special, short album in January tentatively titled "The Ladies Choice." It will feature a few previously unreleased b-sides of Jewels', and a special insert pictorial with several provocative, adult-oriented photo shoots featuring Jewel. In the words of Jewel; "We are all fragile flames." We like to believe that Jewel strenghtens us all through her masterpieces. Enjoy. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 09:25:23 +0100 From: "James" Subject: * New jewel's Dreamworld The New and improved Jewel's Dreamworld is on the web with a online discusion board http://come.to/jewelsdreamworld ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 03:42:23 EST From: DmBear978@aol.com Subject: * Re: Jewels B-Day .02 cents and reminder about LRC in So. CA Hi Folks! Heres my list: Don't need to name another star for Jewel...shes already got Jewel of the North Don't need to give more money to HGH...they just got $35,000 uhm...I think they're alright for now. Don't need to get her any pets....since UPS or FedEx is out of the question :) Don't need to get her any frizbees or marti-gras beads or any other throwable objects...she gets that anyways. ;-) I think what would be cool if there was a Living Room Tour across the U.S. (and a little of Canada too) with Jewel...yeah, that would be my birthday wish...uhm where was I going with this? :-D Back to reality...I think what would make her happy is if we help out the Everyday Angels Foundation this year. C'Mon people, they've got some good grassroots things that happen. Sure it isn't as high profile as Higher Ground for Humanity or Clearwater Project, but they help out with what they've got. I think it would be good to see ourselves helping each other out, cause I think thats what Jewel would want. EDAF supporter...not cause I have to, but cause I want to! Guitar playin Angel Alex BTW- Living Room Concert in So. Califorina March 10th for ya'll who aren't on the So. Cal list or Living Room Announcement List. Just post to the So. Our first is a fast rising SF Bay Area folk duo known as Sweet Duration. Great friends to the SoCal LRC community, Jen and Mike have taken their local folk scene by storm. Regulars at some of the top coffee shops up north, they have come back down to perform their new material not only at our LRC, but the NewBreak Coffee shop in Ocean Beach the friday prior (March 10th). They will be sharing the bill at our LRC and the Newbreak with local singer-songwriter sensation Jason Mraz. A regular feature of our LRC's, Jason is in my opinion one of the best new finds on the SoCal music scene. Jason just recently opened for Tara Maclean in both San Diego and Los Angeles. He has also opened for Carlos Olmeda, Gregory Page, Paula Cole, and played the side stage for Jewel in SD. His is a talent that astonishes...... Where: The Vierling Residence Lake Elsinore CA only about 1 hour from LA or SD off the 15 freeway. Cover $10 (includes BBQ and musicians share) Note: The host makes no profit :) In the event of a surplus of funds (ie a musician donating their services, etc.), the surplus will be donated to the EveryDay Angels Foundation a non-profit organization (www.edaf.org). Time: BBQ to start 6ish with music soon to follow (7ish) Need directions or have questions? Email me (Jason) at edarunsun@yahoo.com :) Hope to see you all on the LRC scene soon!! I can degrade other types of music so i'll refrain. MTV isn't for 1 artist, they are for music in general and tries to make everyone happy. I, personaly feel, Jewel's videos have been mediocre excluding WWSYS. She just hasn't had directors who can express the songs well. Maybe she should join up with Spike Jonze.
