I was extremely bored in a Business Law class today so I was playing Wheel of Fortune online. While doing this I came across some info saying that the show would be honoring female artists this week. Jewel was included in the list of musicians they named. I've been involved in trees for over 700 people at a time, so I'm sure I can show you how to set this up. Although, being on video, I'd suggest a "vine." I have a few people that I can add to this list (and in no particular order):) EDAS Jen McBride and Mike McCullogh (sp?) formed the acoustic duo Sweet Duration while attending San Jose State University. Novices on the acoustic scene when they arrived for last years Gathering of Angels show, Sweet Duration have blossomed into one of the Bay Areas best acoustic acts. They are veterans of the SoCal LRC scene and are hard at work on their first independant release. Look for them at mp3.com and the soon to be up and running www.sweetduration.com :) EDA Jamie Matthews (our own little Jewel) had her performance debut also at the GofA show in Ocean Beach. She followed up with a display of her incredible songwriting at our first SoCal LRC last year. Currently, Jamie manages and performs at a coffeeshop (Neutral Ground?...is that right Jamie?) in The Big Easy (New Orleans). Word on the street is she is being approached by indie labels of the area..... another name to look for is Joe Hui. Joe is a SoCal EDA who has yet to even finish High School, butis already being given notice by local talent radio programs (103.9X to mention one). Joe is quickly developing into an ewxceptional singer songwriter and debuted at the Irvine Gof A show last year. Look/listen for him at upcoming LRC's and their subsequent recordings :) Names I hope to be able to say more about soon include Season Naify (another Bay Area Talent and GofA alumni), Alex Esther (a fabulously talented guitarist), and perhaps even......you :) If you are a performer in the SoCal area (or will be) and are interested in performing at an LRC, send me an email :) We'd love to hear from you again :) Take Care Angels, Jason V ===== EveryDay Angels Foundation (visit at www.edaf.org) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 14:29:53 EST From: OCEAN042187@cs.com Subject: * Jewel's email address? Thank you Shane--------The Peaceful Angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 16:15:20 -0800 From: Kent_Tanimoto@3com.com Subject: * Angelfood/Re: jewel-digest V5 #73 I've noticed a number of posts for angelfood. Some commercial ideas are: www.Amazon.com to start. In addition to the CD's "The Wizard of Oz in Concert" is back on VHS. See Jewel as Dorothy! You'll also get to see a number cut from the movie (though it was originally shot) of the number, "Jitterbug." Jewel is fantastic as usual. There is also the CD of the concert. Read the reviews. They're neat. When shopping online don't forget lots of the CD sites also offer the foreign released CD's. They often have songs that have not been released in the US. There is of course http://www.quackquack.net/jewel/index.html#lrt with links to the Tinkerstreet cafe music archives at www.radiowoodstock.com One thing, I can't get to the Jewel music archives. Maybe Mike can give me some pointers? There are also zillions of Jewel sites. Bless you all! Finally, I have a TON of Jewel videos. From the VH1 Storytellers (insanely great) to Jewel on Oprah, Leno, Letterman and tapes I can't remember. I'll put out a list as soon as I get another VCR. I desperately want to trade for the MTV Unplugged performance of Jewel and also the Fanatic episode. DON'T ask me to trade just yet, I'm saving to buy the VCR! Speaking of videos, hock your car if you have to but I think the "A Life Uncommon" (now on commercial web sites as well as JewelJK.com now $15, sale!) that Jewel's team did is a must have. I bought a couple of Jewel posters from the JewelJK site. They are stunning! The website cannot do them justice. For all you photographers out there think 2X3 foot cibachrome prints! (They are not cibachrome prints but I've never seen such high quality printing!) Glossy and color richness that took my breath away! And to top it off the subject was Jewel!
