The CD has two live songs "Deep Water" recorded live at Fox FM, Melbourne, 1999 and "Foolish Games" recorded live in Madrid, 1999. The computer-necessary component is the video clips for both "Hands" and "Down So Long" as well as a biography to read. It's a good Bonus CD, but I doubt worth the trouble of buying a new computer! lol :) IMO the best part of the CD (seeing as though I already have the clips on video) is the performance of 'Deep Water" which you only need a CD player for... Hope this helps, take care Jess P.S. Just as a little tidbit - in the paper the other day they had an article on the most played songs on Australian radio in 1999. 'Hands' came in somewhere in the top 20. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 01:32:11 EST From: "Lorrie :\)" Subject: * NJC: Steve Poltz on movie soundtracks? hi, i'm sorry, this doesn't really have anything to do with jewel. Lorrie the lost angel List Moderator Note: newer subscribers to this list may not realize this, but Steve Poltz is an integral part of Jewel music, both creatively and in performance. He took Jewel under his wing when she was just starting, has co-written many of her songs (including You Were Meant For Me) and has toured with her as an opening act (solo and with his former band, The Rugburns) and a member of Jewel's band on the recent Spirit tour. Posts about Steve, while in most cases are NJC (No Jewel Content), from this point on will be allowed, as long as they are about his music and/or his professional relationship with Jewel, and as long as it does not get out of hand. - Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 17:59:55 EST From: "Blush Angel" Subject: * Top 100 songs! (Run Jewel run! :-) Now I know each of the charities involved is a very worthy cause, and part of me objects to the nature of this contest, that being competing one charity against another for deserving donations. However, it is NOT a winner-take-all "contest". Depending on how many votes they get, EACH of the charities can win up to $10,000 while the "winner" with the most votes gets the $25,000. So, by the looks of the present standings each of the other charities certainly seems to be in position of winning thousands of dollars from American Greetings too :-) I myself have voted for each of the charities at least a few times (one in particular that rings true to my heart got more votes than the others) but I did vote more times for Jewel's charities, as they are not as well known as the others and likely don't get the at-large donations that some of the other charities do. Having said all that, and with less than 37 to go in this Celebrity Smooch, I would like to see us as a group put this thing away and clinch this thing for Higher Ground For Humanity/Clearwater Project. (after all, you never know, some other fan club kind of list for one of the other celebrities or a charity mailing list might be planning the same for their cause and have a last minute rush and end up blowing right by Jewel/HGH/Clearwater and winning this thing down the stretch). So, I say let's clinch this thing right now! Head to http://www.americangreetings.com/promo/cs/index.pd and vote! Remember, all of the charities are going to be winners :-) Mike :-) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 08:46:39 -0800 (PST) From: Samantha Ankar Subject: * NJC: hello everyone! The most common question is whether the movie version is the same as the single & MTV video version. Good question & oh, if it was only that simple... ;-) Since, I figure others are also interested in the various versions of this, here's the deal, and yes, it's very confusing, so you may need to read this over & over... There are 3 significantly different studio versions of "What's Simple Is True". They are: 1) The original album version. This was recorded & mixed during the 1998 sessions for Jewel's 2nd album "Spirit". For all future reference purposes, known as "the album version". 2) The radio remix version. This is the single version. This was remixed in 1999 & released as a radio single. (For collectors, the single was only released to radio stations & is catalogued as Atlantic PRCD 9044.) This version is also the one used in two significant other places: It's the version used for the video of the song (as shown on MTV) AND is the same version on the "Ride With The Devil" movie soundtrack CD. For all future reference purposes, known as "the single version". And just when you thought you had a grip on all this: 3) The "RWTD" version. This is the version that plays while the credits are rolling in the movie. It's yet another mix with somewhat different instrumentation than the single version. Surprisingly, it's NOT the version on the soundtrack CD & is only available on the movie itself while the credits roll. For all future reference purposes, known as "the movie version" (even though it is not the version on the soundtrack CD). That's the not so simple facts on the various versions of "What's Simple Is True". Hope that answers all related questions about this song, other than "MrBB, what the *@#% are you babbling about?" ;-) Alan There's only 2 more days to sustain your cybersmooching momentum, so please keep up your collective efforts. So, I was wondering if anyone created a site where her various sigs are displayed.
