(w/ steve of course) YWMFM (just her and guitar... and not too much baby voice) ROSY AND MICK (w/ atz lee on harmonica, much better with the band) YOUR IN CLEVELAND TODAY!!!YES YES!(those of you who know me can imagine how far out of my seat i jumped... it was an excellent version) LIFE UNCOMMON DOWN SO LONG EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEONE (SOMETIME) LOVE ME JUST LEAVE ME ALONE WHO WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL encore: ANGEL STANDING BY she was introduced and walked out in a plain black top and pants, minimal makeup, and straight, simple brushed hair her mood was jolly, although her voice was not quite up to par, nonetheless it was a great show. she begain with angel, her voice cracked a few times, so i doubt it will make the broadcast. then she started talking about texas. she has lived here for a month. she talked about how she likes meat. "i just like the taste of it... a lot!" how much she likes the barbeque in texas, etc. she made the same joke about how she never thought she would spend much time in texas because alaska is so much bigger that she did this summer at the woodlands show. the funniest thing she said was, and look out woody, "i would eat *plywood* with bbq sauce!" thank goddess there was no mexico story, and an abbreviated story about meeting steve and how he is the best song writer she's ever known, etc. he talked about his show tonight at la zona rosa. she also made a funny joke about how crazy she was acting..."it's the heroin talking" (note the word joke, please) overall, it was a really good show... the broadcast later this year will be only thirty minutes, but with no commercials. hopefully they will put some of the new stuff, and not just the sappy spririt stuff on the show. remember there are no commercials on PBS, so there will be more than three songs :-) it was sooooo nice to meet other EDA's. HI william, amy and kevin! see you tonight at steve's show!!!! love luna ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 13:46:28 -0800 From: "Rizioule" Subject: * NJC: EDA Summit Proposal Hello Everyone ! The year 2000 is well under way and for many, this new millenium raises many important questions about the furure of our society and our great planet earth. It is a time that inspires reflection on our pasts and a desire to carefully consider and make the most of our futures. Our "EDA Society" is a wonderfull gift given to us by nature herself. ( OK, nature, Microsoft and smoe.org : ) It has been demonstrated many times that this wonderful gift is also a powerfull tool that can be used to make lasting beneficial changes to the world we live in. So, we have a mechanism to do many great things, what we need now are specific goals and a cohesive plan. In the intrests of providing a venue for the discussion of these goals and the implementation of systems nessesary to accomplish them, I would like to propose a summit meeting of all Angels's who can possibly attend. On the agenda would be : a; a daytime workshop type discussion meeting where objectives can be identified, goals set, and cooperative task forces assigned to their implementation. b; The obligatory night of entertainment ! The first choice of venues would be Java Joe's in San Diego Ca. and I think a good date would be near Jewels birthday, May 23. May 19th - May 21st is the weekend before. This would give us 3 months to set it up. I have not talked to Joe yet to see if those dates are available. So thats the proposal. Anyone who has any questions, idea's or would like to volunteer to help with the project, please e-mail me at > Rizioule@hotmail.com Sincerely, Riz The Music, Writings and Art of Rizioule http://Rizioule.homestead.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Feb 2000 17:29:56 EST From: "Carolyn Lake" Subject: * Jewel & Ty Poll closes tomorrow! Hey ppl! My poll closes tomorrow....Incase you don't remember the poll question (cuz there seem to be a LOTTA polls floatin around out there) here it is: EDA Poll #2: If Jewel and Ty eloped, would you approve? Since no one else has posted about this yet, I guess I'll go ahead and send a quick message about it. As most of you know by now, Jewel and her band were in Austin this past weekend to do a taping of Austin City Limits, the show on PBS. After waiting over 3 hours in line, myself and a few others with me got in the door. Jewel had an outstanding show, playing almost 2 hours....the longest set I've seen from her to date...even compared to her tour shows. She opened with 3 new songs (yes, these WERE really new), then played SIBTW, then the band came out. They did I'm guessing about 10 more songs then. Including You're in Cleveland Today, all the singles, and she closed with Angel Standing By as an encore. The sound was phenomenal, and better than any other shows I've seen of hers. The audience was restricted to 431 people do to fire marshall codes...so the setting was extremely intimate. If it weren't for Luna enduring hours and hours of standing in line to get the tickets (with the flu!), I would have never gotten to see Jewel yesterday. So a big thanks goes out to her for that. Afterwards, I bumped into Steve and the band again and got all their autographs on the program they handed out before the show (minus Brady's). Even got Atz to sign it. He was there with them, and did perform one new song with Jewel on stage that night. Also got a few pics too, but unfortunately had to leave before Jewel made her way out of the studio, assuming she was still in there, which I think she was. But to see a show like this (the unedited version I mean) is something most never get an opportunity to, and especially during an artists peak time of their career. And while they're not even on tour, and won't be for who knows how much longer. Jewel's voice was notably weak I'm guessing from being off stage for so long, and she was drinking alot of water also to clear her throat. Even after starting over on Angel Standing By, she still had some difficulties hitting the high notes...but on other songs like Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, she did quite well (in the yelling parts). Steve was having a good ole time as always too. I met a few new EDA's also, that was cool. And one EDA who has been on the list since 1995! Not often I find someone whose been here longer than myself. Overall I'd guess there were about 10 EDA's there...pretty good turnout being that only 431 people were there altogether. So there ya go, all of yall get those VCR's ready come June or July when they decide to air it. Unfortunately it's going to be cut to 1/2 hour show, so I'm thinking they'll only air about 5-6 songs tops. Oh well...I'm sure they'll pick good ones and leave the heroin stories out of it. ;-) Derrick PS...she opened with Fly to Me Angel, technically not a new song, but not often sung anyway...and she did yodel some in that song, as usual...but no chime bells this time around. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 19:52:43 EST From: SANDGIRL313@aol.com Subject: * Re: That love question (or why I admire Jewel) hey angels~i was very moved by what larissa said in her mail about why she loves jewel...i myself have a few ideas that coinside with those of her own. she is pretty..not the normal extremely skinny anorexic pretty, but an angelic, pretty that i strive to be. she's the kind of pretty that isn'tl abeled..she is in her own class of beauty. she's a poet(and a very good one at that) not only is she a poet, as larissa said, but a song writer, so that means that she has the skill and the precision to lend her poetry to the background of music. she's a star she's a star who rose against the life of living in her van and broke away from whatever anyone else said about her.she has perceverance..she is perfect in her form..i totally agree w/ larissa when she said, She makes me believe in angels. She's so much of what I want to be. For some, that would be reason enough to hate her. Love, hate, they're a little portion of a thing that's much bigger.... That's about much more than love and hate. Sometimes we get confused... I'm still kinda new to the list and all but what i have noticed is that there is a great deal of judgment going on. I REALLY DON'T MEAN TO OFFEND ANYBODY by sayinh this!!! And i am very sorry if i do. I just wanna say that i don't think that Jennifer should have to deffend her-self to other jewel fans. We are all on this list because we like jewels music, poetry, acting, spirit, hope etc.... What ever you are on here for it is because we want to learn more about jewel or just interact with people that are interested in some of the same things that you are. I personly am not offended by this poll, and i kinda think that was cool that she did put it out there. I know that everybody has thier own oppioun and by this....Jennifer should have the right to hold this poll. One of the ressions that i joined this list is to find out more about jewel and what her fans thought of her. Now i think that this is a good way to see what people think about some of her songs. Well i have rambled on about what i think and let me say again that i do not want peopel takeing what i said wrongly. This was ALL my own opinion and what i thought. If you want to reply...Please drop me an e...mail. I'm glad to talk. Thanks again. I just looked at all the other charities that the other celebs are putting their money to, and they are great causes. Kevin Sorbo is dotating to children's aids foundation, and I would hate for him to not win because of this whole thing turning into a popularity-type contest. I hope that everyone looks to see what other foundations might get money, and take the time to donate to those, also.
