Well, just wanted to say that it's a wonderful idea (why haven't we thought about it before??), and tell that anything you decide to do for Nedra, I'm in! Unfortunately, I can't think of any good suggestion right now, but I agree with Jenniffer: it sure should be separated from Jewel's b-present. It must be something unique, especially for her. I know I'm far away from the vast majority of you angels, but I'd like soooooo much to help with anything in this new project... Don't forget to cybersmooch Jewel!! Now love is gentle, and love is kind The sweetest flower when first it's new But love grows old, and waxes cold And fades away like morning dew. There is a ship that sails the sea She's loaded deep as deep can be But not as deep as the love I'm in I know not how I sink or swim. The water is wide, I can't cross over And neither I have wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall row, my love and I And both shall row, my love and I. Not meaning to be rude, but I really don't think that was the point of the original post. The reason the discussion started was due to confusion over whether Jewel DOES or DOES NOT drink, not whether it is or isn't right for her to drink. Of course she can drink whenever she wants...there have just been mixed reports on whether or not she does. Some people like to have their Jewel facts straight...there's no reason for people to "get over" themselves, it has nothing to do with being righteous or morally superior....it's just the seeking of knowledge! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 00:33:06 +1100 From: "Angeldust" Subject: * Idea for Nedra Howdy EDA's, It would be great if we can put together something (whatever it may be) to show how much we as eda's appreciate Nedra. I'm in all the way, I think it's a great idea, especially for me considering I live in Australia, it gives me a chance to be more involved. Take care all, Angeldust Susie. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2000 09:57:59 EST From: MAC14460@aol.com Subject: * "Hands" & Nedra Hands: We're all saying basically the same thing, only in slightly different ways. The song is encouraging the listener to go out and "make a difference." The opening lyric, "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be, we're all okay" seems to speak to the many people out there who don't think they're okay. People who are exceptionally sensitive and who have, at some time, been hurt or damaged. When I was new to the list, I recall noticing how many "injured angels" were here needing the kinship and support found in our group. After all, isn't being sensitive one of the core characteristics of being an EDA? The Nedra idea: Wasn't she the first person to refer to Jewel's hard-core fans as Everyday Angels/EDA's? Jewel wrote the lyric for "I'm Sensitive" but it was Nedra who first applied the name to us as a group. According to Jewel, Nedra gives 60 percent of her income to HGH - even more than Jewel. I think Nedra would be pleased if we did something for her via HGH. I hope I'm doing this right! To Gina, (ZinzyGurl@aol.com) I live in Santa Clara. Please drop me an e-mail when you're in town. I'm a huge Jewel fan and would love to chat with another EDA. And what's a "tabulature?" Play list? Liner notes? You can reach me at Kent_Tanimoto@3Com.com. (Don't forget the underscore _ or else the e-mail won't reach me!) To Michael, yeah, I totally agree about wishing Life Uncommon was on DVD. It is truly awesome and I've bought two copies because I know I'll wear out the first tape! Is the Olds 442 really Jewel's car? I noticed the license plate was blurred out so maybe it is? A 442. Jewel is so cool! I bet she floors it and sings "Race car driver" like a crazy person! With getting to hear Jewel sing songs written by other people on her Christmas album any chance she might sing songs from other songwriters? I loved her duets with Merle Haggard. I would REALLY love to hear her sing "Desperado" (it's on an old Eagles album but I don't know who originally wrote it.) That would be on her country CD play list (please! please! please!). For her rock CD she just HAS to sing "Bobby McGee." If she could sing it just like Janis Joplin that would be mind blowing! I know she has the intensity to do it let alone the talent. Jewel can sing with such great emotion it's one of her towering strengths as a singer. I know from the other digests people are wondering about new tours. For me, right now, I hope Jewel will STOP touring and stop everything else. She's been sick. She sang on Leno and ol' Jay was saying what "a trooper" she was but she was obviously ill. She's done a couple of other TV show apperances and for all the EDA's that pray, say a prayer for Jewel and her voice. She is way overdoing it. I'm sure others have noticed. Jewel, you have permission from the Galactic Leader to take the winter off, get better and enjoy your life doing something other than singing! Enjoy! :-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 12:18:19 EST From: "Lorrie :\)" Subject: * an idea for Nedra Hey angels, this is just a simple idea. Lorrie the lost angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 14:15:27 -0200 From: Larissa Subject: * That love question (or why I admire Jewel) Greetings, my prize angels. My Everyday Angels. This is a very intimate letter, and thought I haven't found out its objective yet, I'm writing to you. You know, I fell sort of isolated, for I am so far away. Why I admire Jewel? I decided to think a little and reflect on why we have idols and that love question. Perhaps you think it's an old subject, but I see it everyday. I guess there are plenty of reasons. I'll start from down under... She's a pretty girl. And I shall say that one way or another, I admire pretty people. Can science explain this?? I don't think so. It's not logical. She's not the owner of perfect forms, but the joining of them gets to an amazing result. It's not 'standard beauty', and that gets my atention. To things that we can't explain are attached labels that we create. But would she be an angel? Maybe. But I believe she's a person. Just a person. Isn't it enough? For most of us, it is not. We look for things, even not knowing what these things are. She's a poet. Oh, well, I am a poet as well. But she's a songwiter, which means she's a melody poet. I have some songs of my own. The fact is that I fell the melodies coming out from me, they're inside me, though they're Jewel's. But sometimes, when I listen, I fell they are mine. And it doesn't happen all the time. That's a way to get to someone. She's a singer. I am a singer. She's a popstar. 'We all wanna be big, big stars, but we don't know how and we don't know why'. We have fear. I have fear. I don't want to feel lonely. She makes me believe in angels. She's so much of what I want to be. For some, that would be reason enough to hate her. Love, hate, they're a little portion of a thing that's much bigger.... That's about much more than love and hate. Sometimes we get confused... Before that, which occured shortly after JewelStock in Nedra's email to the list about the event, the list subscribers continually called each others "angels", "everyday angels" and whatnot. Perhaps a really, really, really list oldtimer can certify who first called the list EveryDay Angels (which I am almost sure was Jewel herself) Mike - who used the acronym "EA" (for Everyday Angels) the very same day Nedra used EDA.
