Since I had so many heartfelt responses, I thought it only right to give everyone an update. First the bad news - We found out the day Mark came out of the coma that his best friend's twin brother had died the night before - a suspected drug overdose, but as in Mark's case, they really couldn't tell what happened. Then, about 5 days ago my mother was told another girl had died - presumably from the same group of people my brother sometimes hung out with..... The good news is, and the positive outcome to everything that happened is that my mother is now able to get Mark help with or without his consent. Unfortunately, he is having mental problems right now - hopefully a temporary side effect of the drugs he took - but we don't know yet if it's temporary or permanent. He is extremely paranoid and is convinced that someone is trying to kill him. Once they are able to take care of his overall mental state, then he will be entered into a rehab program - We are hoping for the best, of course..... Anyway, thanks to everyone who sent e-mails, it meant a lot to me that so many people care.... Hugs to you all!! The only problem is it might be a little expensive. Here goes. Last Christmas, someone had an idea about the EDA's adopting a site for HGH/CW. I figure since some were talking about giving this as a present to Jewel and Nedra, we would adopt a site... (I have no clue how it works but maybe we could expand on it throughout the years?) And if there are any free stars out there, find two straight above the site and name them for Nedra and Jewel, the angels watching over us (HGH/site) It has some symbolism to it, party caused by listening to the Joy CD. Well let me know if this is an ok idea or even partially feasible. Thanks Sheila angel of symbolic nature ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Feb 2000 12:53:38 EST From: JuelzPreciousGem@aol.com Subject: * Re: Hands I agree w/ Matrix about the songs meening, I once saw Jewel saying something to that effect about what the song meens. If you have any tapes (listed at bottom)of these please email me or maybe you went to the show and you can share what you remember. I didn't pay much attention to the going's on around here I missed some AWESOME chances to see Jewel in a more intimate setting and I am now kicking myself!! My list is here http://hometown.aol.com/sabato229/myhomepage/collection.html and I think everything I have is listed sometimes some of the shows don't show for what reason I don't know. Also a few people contacted me about getting a tape or 2 and I somehow lost your email's so get a hold of me so I can do them for you. One more thing the Professional Bull Riding circuit is coming to Cleveland on Feb 11 and 12 and I was almost wanting to go to maybe catch a glimpse of Jewel -- does anyone know if she's going or will be busy with other things? But i was just >wondering.....did she write this song? have any of you ever heard it? does >she sing it anymore? just curious. thanks! This is a GREAT song. And Jewel does it justice, no doubt about it. But it's not her own. It is a Fleetwood Mac song, from their album Rumours. It was written by Christine McVie (who probably handled the original vocals - but I don't have the album here right now to listen to, so I'm not positive). If you want that song, I recommend the album "Legacy: a tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours". Not as good as the real thing, but compiled under the direction of Mick Fleetwood himself, this album has 11 different artists each cover one of the original songs. Jewel's version is there, along with many other great songs. Hope that helps. To me the song says the only one you can trust is yourself, the only person that can change you is yourself, and the only one that can make you help others, is yourself. "i am never broken" says that there are times when everyone feels like giving up, like they are worthless, but it doesn't mean that we can't fix things, things weren't broken to start with. I don't know. there are a lot of little things that Jewel says and does that just makes me so happy. i read this quote from her. it was on the cd-rom portion of her Import Spirit album saying "Everytime you make a choice that supports your creativity- instead of trying to uphold the vision that the world has of you- the better off you are." that quote means so much to me, it's just inspiring, it reminds me not to care what other's think about me, just go my own way and be my own person. "hands" says the same thing. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2000 12:34:34 +1100 From: "Angela" Subject: * Water is Wide lyrics I would deeply appreciate it if someone could help me figure out the lyrics to Water is Wide, which Jewel sang with Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan at Lilith Fair a few years back.
