I happen to like what she said, think about it, unless you were COMPLETELY
stuck up and arrogant about everything, or just a flat out egotistical jerk,
Everyone being like, "I'm your biggest fan! I love you! You are my Goddess!",
I would be a little peeved at them, I don't know about you but I would. And
one person loving you is a compliment, eith one person, you are not singled
out but just special in your own way and someone else on this planet
recognizes all of your qualities that are hidden from most or others are too
blind to see them.

just to have a souvenir. I don't know who in their right mind would. Her
music is what every Jewel fan loves, they mistake it as a love for her. All I
do is listen to her music and if I see something on TV about her, I'll watch
it. I don't read every page of the TV guide each week just to see if there is
something new on Jewel coming on TV. I'm ALWAYS late getting her CD's
(usually get them just as another is coming out) and I know I'm not the
perfect fan. If I were in her shoes, I would hate the perfect fan.

The way I see it is that she wrote us saying that she would've retire if 
she was
viewed as a pop icon, but because of the people she sings to and that she feels
that she's getting her message across and that she's inspiring people, 
that's why
she hasn't quit. It's very hard for a 25 yr old woman, like she said, to be
scattering her youth  in airports and on the road,when most of us are sleeping
late on a weekend she's probably up working, traveling, etc. She also said that
she has had a very tough year, that attention seeems to be "eclipsing her" 
. But
that she values our feedback more than those of the critics.
She has to keep her popularity going so she can touch more people with her
message, if she goes back to a low profile, how is she going to get her message
and inspiration across? , how is she going to support her charity and all the
people that work on it?
remember that this is someone that has many employees under her wing and to 
top it
all of, a charity organization. I wish everyone would wish her the best success
and try to make her as popular as possible, for the sake of her vision, 
which is
the only reason she keeps going at the pace she has, I admire her for that, and
also for the fact that she hasn't sold out, which is very easy to do when 
you are
in that fame status that she has.

I agree with the idea, but what exactly do you want to do? make a list and
post poems? Here's an idea, lets make a poem news letter. people can submit
poems thoughts and pictures, and someone who is willign to do it can make
like a monthly newsletter of the best submissions.
I don't know how you all feel about it so give me some feedback about it.  IF
we do decide to, i might do it if its on a mothly basis. it all depends on

o.k. Iknow that this is old but i just got the video for christmas so yeah
I'm talking about it now.  o.k. I have question....when she was younger i
noticed and she also said somewhere that she used to spell her name "juel"
and thn she changed it as she got older.  In the beginning of the video there
are pictures of her as a child, one of them is her sitting down at her desk
at school, and like most of us, she too had a name tag on her desk...but, it
had her name spelled "jewel" like she does now.  Was I misinformed with her
spelling her name "Juel"...well, it's even on a highschool picutre..i dunno,
can someone perhaps explain this to me? thanks! greatly appreciated!

      Wow,i don't post everyday, actually, i don't post that often at all,
but i'm trying to get better!  I really missed a lot on these past few weeks
though!
      First, i'd like to say i agree with the people who say there are
different kinds of love.  i've pondered the question "what is love?" quite a
bit and here's what i've come up with:  i've defined love...ready??  well
here it is..."Love is; when you don't have to question it, but you still can
not define it."--me.     but i do believe the word is used a little too
loosely.  i'm not doubting that people honestly feel they love Jewel.  But
to be in love with Jewel is a completely different issue to me.  i dunno,
just my personal opinion.  i could be way off because, like i said, i've
missed a whole lot lately!! :(
      So anyway on to the next thing, i read Jewels letter to the EDAs and
agree that she seemes pretty exhausted by all the record sales, and reviews
and overwhelmed by all the fame.  When there's so many material issues to
deal with it becomes harder to be in touch with yourself.  It's good that
she's spending  this holiday with people she adores.  It does sound like she
just wants to break free from it all.  i feel inevitably it will happen, but
i also believe she'll continue to inspire and touch people.  That too is
inevitable. :)  So after blabing on with all my mambo-jambo thoughts i shall
stop.  :)

      oh, and if i didn't make any sense at all, realize it's late and i'm

     My father is in ICU with full blown pneumonia in both lungs.  He waited
to long to get medical attention. One day away from too long. He "should" be
OK, or so I'm told. My family and I would greatly appreciate your prayers to
help him recover. (Actually, for my whole family to recover, my Mom and
grandma also have pneumonia, but not as bad.  My Mom, the flu also, and my
brother ear infections.  I was the only one to be blessed with good health
this holiday season)

Happy Holidays Everybody!

This is particularly for you folks who live in Southern Califorina.  I'll be
hosting a LRC January 15th(its a Saturday).  There will be food, fun and of
course music! It starts at 5:00pm and the music will start at 6:00pm.  This
is the Project Warmth Benifit LRC that is going to help out the EDAF with
their winter mission.  The only way you can get in is with a blanket, jacket,
beanie, gloves, sweatshirt (with or without hood) or some other article of
clothing that can keep someone warm in the cold winter months.  Our confirmed
performers are Carlos Olmeda and Toca Rivera who got a San Diego Music Award
in Adult Contemporary Album this year.  My compadrae(and EDAF member) Jason
Vierling and I are looking into unique and still unknown San Diego performers
for your listening pleasure.  So, heres the run down:

What: Living Room Concert

When: January 15th doors open at 5pm, music starts at 6pm and will end by 10

Where: My folks house here in Carlsbad which is 45 minutes North of San Diego
and the same South of Orange County. Email me for directions

How to get in?: An article of clothing to be given to the EDAF's Project
Warmth

Why?: cause its SO much fun to go to a free show!

I disagree. I'll  give an example... I have every Mariah Carey CD she has
ever put out (i know she's not in Jewel's category of music) but I really
don't Like/love her as a person. I don't agree with the way she comes off-
showing off her body, etc- but i do like her music. Therefore I disagree, you
can "love" someones music and not "love" them.

Another thing, I can understand how Jewel could geet annoyed with everyone
"Loving" her. Everyone wanting a piece of her or her attention, or just
paying so much attention to every little thing she says or does. It probably
would get annoying. This is just my opinion.

hello all!
I hope we are all enjoying the holiday season... I know I am :o)
Anyway I know alot of people have had their 2 cents on this but I just
wanted to go along with what most people have already stated and say that
Love is something that comes in many forms.. I love my family and my pets
both very much so, but also on different levels.
I also love my friends dearly, but love is such a complicated word and I
can't remember where this came about again.. by that I mean whether it was a
viewed interview or whether it was written because when something is written
it can sound so awful because you can't see the person's emotion nor can you
hear the tone of their voice. I know this as I have often been accused of
being rude, or called a b***h cuz people can't tell the way I am saying
something.
Also I think that letter from Jewel showing her appreciation was such a
lovely gesture. One of the things I admire most about Jewel is that she has
yet to let celebrity (fame) get to her head and forget about those who
support her.. family, friends, EDAs and other fans out there :o)
I know most of you got Joy ahwhile ago, but I only got it for Christmas and I
must say how much I love it :o) I think Rudolph is sooooo cute :oP~ and that
all the other songs are sung so beautifully. I loved the bonus clip of
Gloria.... her dancing on the table reminded me of those jewelery boxes with
the dancing ballerina inside :o)
Can't wait to see what she graces us with next.
Just one final note... I am a self confessed idiot here and need to get a
reply from anyone from this list who was previously on my icq list, as I had
to uddate my old version and lost all my people.
So if you were on my list... some of I can't remember much details to get
you up again.. Quiet Warrior, Brian, shrink and a few more just message me

First of all, Jewel wasn't very considerate when she said that.  She probably
said it at a time when she was worn-out from touring, or something like that,
but to say that to her fans is pretty cold.  There are literally people out
there that find a reason to keep living because of Jewel's music.  Try
telling them that they don't love her for giving them a reason to keep
living.

When a fan says 'I love you Jewel!', Jewel, and everyone here, is smart
enough to realize that 99% of the time, that they aren't literally professing
a love for Jewel the person, but Jewel the artist, and her music.  Face it,
she said the wrong thing.  It's ok, it happens to all of us.  Personally the
RIGHT things I've seen her say far outweight the 'wrong' ones, so I'll
forgive her ;)
