It is the " 2 Large Millennium Poll ". They are voting on a number of different categories including favorite album and musical artist of the millennium. Unfortunately, Jewel is not listed in any of the categories. If there was ever a poll to vote on I think this would be the one. Does anyone know anything about this? Would there be any way of getting her name listed so that we can all start voting? Jewel definitely deserves to be included here. There is also not much time since the show airs on 12/31/99. http://www.mtv.com/sendme.tin?page=/mtv/tubescan/2large/poll.html Mark ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Dec 1999 11:24:00 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: * billboard voting Go to www.billboard.com you can vote for your favourite album out of the top 20 albums of the year! Hi all, My ABC station conviently decided to cut the audio right before Jewel came on the View and turned it back on just in time for the last few chords of Ave Maria. Nice of them huh? :) Anyways, some good came out of it because I flipped stations to see if other channel's audio was working, and I caught the beginning intro to Jewel on Later Today. Since the View and Later Today are on the same time slot where I live, I would have never known that Jewel was on Later Today and couldn't have recorded it. So if any of you that taped the View, but couldn't tape Later Today because they are also on the same time slot in your area would like to trade? Or if anybody taped the View and would like to trade as well (I've been taping Jewel on TV since 95 and have alot), or if anybody could tape it for me if I sent you a blank tape and return postage, I would really appreciate it. I'm also missing Jewel on Letterman when she sang Jupiter, so let me know if you have one or both of these and are willing to trade. Thank you again all so much!!! Everybody have a happy and safe holiday, jason ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Dec 1999 19:30:54 EST From: DmBear978@aol.com Subject: * NJC: Poltz, Pettibone and Rudolph?(long) Java Joes last Poltz show Hey Folks, Robin and Ashlee, nah you didn't bore us :) My sis and I got down to Joes about 6:40 and there already was a good sized line. We took turns getting food and using their facilities at Theo's so we didn't loose our spot in line. I got my tickets at the will call window and saw Cindy Lee Berryhill warming up. I didn't realize it, at the time I thought it was Anya Marina with a red electric guitar...show have know better, eh? Anyways, the doors opened at 7:00 and I laided out enough clothes for two chairs for Tony "Speed Racer" Pipo and Maddy. 7:30 rolls around and the place is PACKED. 8:00 comes along and I get at least 2 couples asking if those seats are saved. Well, why else would articles of clothing be on them?? CLB comes up on stage after Wendy welcomes everybody. She had two other females musicians on stage with her: a cello/singer, and Kim Fox -an Los Angeles singer/songwriter-. Cindy plugged Kim's album a couple times during her 1/2 hour set. I still can't remember all the songs she played, there was "aquamarine" as the second to the end song and to top it off CLB played "Want to be sedated" cover as her tribute to this years holiday season. :D 'Bout 9:15 Wendy intros Steve an he hops on stage. He started off with a song he wrote yesterday(thursday) on a napkin while in a bar drinking milk(yeeah right, milk) It didn't have a name so, I'll name it "The 858 song" cause its about how a few weeks back, San Diego phone companies added a new area code (858) to San Diego city cause of all the new cell phones, faxes, etc. The companies did this with almost no warning at all and it got alot of people in the La Jolla area bent cause they're now 858 instead of 619 which San Diego has been for decades. So, Steve played the 858 song and the whole crowd busted up laughing. LoL! Heres what I remember in no particular order: 858 Song 98 Pounder 26 I Thought I Saw You Last Night Silver Linning YYMFM - w/ David Cassidy story/reason for One Left Shoe title below Look to the East Good Morning(Waking Up With You) Forbidden Fruit Beautiful Day Everything About You Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer -more below Impala Sweet Caroline -w/ remembering the family christmass' of past years story Leavin' Again a couple songs from the Answering Machine CD I Hate F'in Christmas Dougee Doug Pettibone played w/ Steve for the majority of the show....and no Jewel(sigh). Oh well Some Times It Be That Way(STIBTW) The Rudolph story...ok, Steve was about to start some song and a little boy named Collin squeaks to our right off stage. Steve looks over and asks what his name his name is and the kid replys with his mom's help. Collin is only 3 years old and LOVES Steve. He could recognize Steve on the radio. I didn't learn about this till after the show. Anyway, Steve felt a little guilty for cussing and says "damnit, I want to have kids" and sings a perky version of Rudolph for Collin. The whole crowd thought it was SO cute! I thought the David Cassidy story was better than any of Jewels storys. First he briefly summarized the trip to Mexico -left out all the breaking in, Federales, and pot bonfire parts- and said that one day Jewel said "you were ment for me" and Steve says" I ain't singing that girly crap" (hence the " I break the eggs with my Goddamn fork, I can't believe that b***h took me to court" part). And so Steve was driving up to Seattle for a show, did it and drove home. When he got back, he had a message on his machine from David Cassidy's agent. He(Dave) wanted Steve to write a #1 song for him cause YWMFM had become very popular. The agent said he would give Steve $4,000 and a round trip from SD to Las Vegas. And so Steve takes the offer. Steve meets up with Cassidy's agent and says that Dave will meet him about 9pm that night and there were 3 rules to whenever your around David: 1)no smoking 2)no drinking(aka alcohol) and 3)no touching-Dave doesn't like to be touched(so he says). Steve goes and plays blackjack and makes his $4,000 turn into $8,000 and he's got his Jack Daniels and he's playing Blackjack with two hookers and he's smoking two cigarettes at once. SO, 8:30 rolls around and security come up to Steve and say "Mr. Cassidy will see you right now". By this time Steve is (and I quote) as high as a kite. Steve get escorted to David Cassidy's green room cause he was putting on some Vegas show. Steve walks in with his JD, his cigarette and two hookers; he sees Dave and jumps him to give a big hug. Instead, Steve gets straight armed and escorted to his seat for the show. Steve said that rule #2 in Vegas is never sleep in or near a casino and so during David Cassidy's show, Steve fell asleep and security escorted him out to the street. On his way being escorted out, over the intercom YWMFM was being played. Steve keeps yelling "I wrote that song!" as security gets him out the front door. Outside there was a girl playing her guitar with her case open for change and she was playing YWMFM. Steve said never to break rule #3 which is don't ever pee on the curb. The police came and arrested him. While his handcuffing, his left shoe came off. The girl was a bit bent from Steve grabbing change from her guitar case and she grabbed the shoe and threw it at him and thats why his album is called One Left Shoe!!! (LoL!) Steve said all this during YWMFM. Last night was the final night Steve was going to play at Java Joes at that location. The reason being, is that Joes is moving a block away from the strip into a larger building. I think the move is after the New Years and Joes will be on Santa Monica blvd. instead of Newport. BTW- I'll be closer to Newbreaks & the public parking. Yeah! Its sad to see it leave, but its a good thing cause it gets SO damn packed in there. Later Happy Holidays!!! OK... nothing's lost... it's only the first week... there's still time to vote 'till January 10th... and I hope many of you do(at least all of those who sent nominations - that would be like a minimum)... cause I wasn't the only one who thought this was a good idea... and if this "Pilot Episode" doesn't work well it just might get permanently cancelled... especially since only one of it's components Album Of The Year had such a great success last year and it would make more sense to keep it at that if all of this is just too much for you! Uhmm... oh yeah... if you plan on voting and you are currently busy and/or just need more time... it would be really great if you let me know... just one sentence - only so I know if anybody else even cares... cause if not, then there's no reason for me to bug you with these posts and trash the list and I might as well just put everybody out of our misery! Well anyway, on how to vote and what to keep in mind while at it, find out here: http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/2009/edaawardsrules.html and when you vote I recommend using this template, those who bothered found very useful... it is however possible to do it right without it, it just takes a bit more of an effort (thanks Tom!*g*): http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/2009/edaawardsform.html If you are without web access... e-mail me for the above!
