I guess this is good news! :-) It could have done worst so far. I absolutely love it and have purchased a total of about ten of them for gifts etc. :-) However, there seems to be a decline on Jewel doesn't there? Hands was the last hit that everyone knows the words to and none of the Spirit songs did as well as the big ones on POY. Yeah, Jewel is still big and well known (unlike many), but it seems strange to me. I wonder what it would take to get a Jewel surge from the public again? And now RWTD isn't even playing in most theatres! This was an expensive movie to make from the figures I've seen and there is no reason why it shouldn't at least be available for movie goers to see. Thoughts? Does Mr. BB know why this movie is no where to be seen? Thanks! Subject: * NJC: Updated Tara Austin show list! (EDA gathering) Here's an updated list of everyone's name whose told me they intend on going to one or more of the Tara MacLean shows in Austin, TX on January 21-23, 2000. If you're interested in going to this and meeting fellow EDA's and Tara fan's, e-mail me and I can add you to the list. The show is FREE all 3 nights, start's at 8:00pm, and is at a coffeehouse called Ruta Maya. I don't think there is a minimum age requirement, since it's not at a bar or club. Most going are between 16 and 30. If you see someone's name from your area and want to go but don't have transportation of your own, you may be able to work out a carpool with them. Unfortunately, I have to do my work first before I can get to the dessert, so I won't be able to look at it in depth for a few more days. But, the peek that I took looked really awesome, and there will be a lot of delectable goodies to see on that website. Very eye-friendly, etc. Hope this isn't a premature congrats since I haven't checked it out fully, but the website looked really FABULOSO so far. Happy Holidays everyone, Amy P.S. I've been listening to JOY...played it for a seventy year old aunt of mine who lives alone...and she LOVED it (She listens to a lot of opera and stuff), and said it cheered her up. I am going to get the CD for her for Christmas. (She listened to it while she was beautifully decorating my apartment for the holidays--we played it back to back four or five times. Maybe a little overkill, but it is an incredibly nice Christmas CD...cheery and JEwel's voice really is technically lovely...esp. on Ave Maria and Gloria and others....... So ever since I got Steve Poltz's "One Left Shoe" CD, his screen name has been on my buddy list, and I had emailed him previously. But, ya know, like a year went by and no sign of him. So LAST night, I signed on and sure enough he was online! And I IMed him and said, "Is this really Steve Poltz?" And he answered, "No, and who is this Steve Poltz? And why and I getting all this email, and what's a "Jewel"." Haha...and yet I knew it had to be him (or someone pretending to be him checking his mail, but I swear it was him.) He finally admitted that it was him, so I talked to Steve Poltz online for about 10 minutes!!! It was so cool. And I told him how I saw him and Jewel this summer and how awesome I thought they were. He replied, "Thanks. You weren't so bad yourself!" Hee..so I was kinda flipping out that I got to talk to him. I hope he's on again! And he promised me that next time he'd call me on stage (but what am I gonna shout? I'm the girl you talked to online? haha..) But anyway, I was excited so I thought I'd just share that with all of you. Hi Evryone, I was just wanting to make sure Jewel will still be on the Today Show tomorrow... And does anyone know if she is performing or is she actually going to be able to 'talk' ? Anyways the point of this is I wanted to let you know that a small pic of Jewel on page 41 of the Jan 2000 issue of Cosmoplitan (with a brunette Cameron Diaz on cover) Daring the stars to reveal their New Year's resolutions Jewel's is "I resolve not to make one. I do them all year, so at New Year's I don't go, 'Oh s---!" And something ironic is they also show Renee Zellweger also and I don't think they really look alike. Everyone have a great holiday and I hope to be seeing you around if my computer doesn't crash. Several of the "Christmas In Washington" repeats that were posted by a list member were mistaken & several things on RockOnTV are incorrect. For accurate info, check the www.jeweljk.com calendar. The one thing that was not announced previously is MTV Total Request Live on Wednesday. Jewel will stop by for this show. Also the beautiful card that Stephanie designed for Jewel from all The EDAs was recieved safe & sound.(This card represents all The EDAs who participated in the EDA/HGH Christmas present project) Jewel will get the card along with the list of all EDA names who donated later this week, in time for Christmas. :-) We hope you're enjoying the NEW Jewel website & we wish everyone a very happy holiday! Jewel's strong soprano catches and breaks on such beloved Yuletide faves as "Joy to the World" and "Silent Night" and gives the tracks a New Agey, I-feel-your-pain tone. To her credit, Jewel manages to find some of the ho-ho-ho in the hokum, especially on a playful rendition of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," which she sings with her soulmate mother, Nedra Carroll. The album is so beautifully arranged and the presentation of songs so tasteful you can almost smell the roasting chestnuts. But you will wish that veteran R&B producer Arif Mardin had provided a little more oomph. Sweet and heartfelt though it is, the collection is also just a tad dull. Bottom Line: Flawed Jewel without a lot of sparkle -- AMY LINDEN Ugh If you cant say anything nice, I'd rather you not say anything at all ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Dec 1999 19:50:35 EST From: JuelzPreciousGem@aol.com Subject: * Re:Jewel is playing a lot I heard Jewel on the radio and stuff a ton today!
