For ANYONE having trouble with getting you credit card donations processed at the HGH website ( various people have expressed frustration with getting error messages regarding their c.c. numbers , not allowing their donation to be processed ) ... I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago at the Jewel Store ( JMerch ) site , as well . What I ended up doing , is trying a different credit card number , and it then went right through ! I know , very strange ! If you don't have a second card , just wait a bit , and try again , as the malfunction seems to act arbitrarily ! AND , has anyone notified HGH that there is an occasional malfunction ( " bug " ) in their donations processing ??? ( Because of the above ) It was suggested this morning on the eda-p list to call in one's last-minute donations , to be a part of this special Christmas give-back gift to Jewel , because it's too late now ( Today is the Mail deadline ) to mail one's donation . You would still use your credit card number , but you'd talk to a real person , and not get error messages ! :) Also , rather than calling JMerch , it would mean calling HGH -- or do they have the same switchboard - -- does anyone know if they use the same telephone number to reach a receptionist/operator ? I hope this helps anyone still wanting to donate . The deadline for online / telephone donations is Thursday , December 9 . Well, almost. For close to three years, I've been searching for Jewel's "Emily" and "Jessica." During a visit to Orlando a month or two ago, my best friend happened to point out the "Jupiter" single, and when I saw that one of the tracks was "Emily"... well, let's just say that Doug's arm probably *still* hurts from me grabbing it in excitement. :) See, "Emily" and "Jessica" have a little bit of a history for me. A couple of years ago, I was talking to my sister over the internet. Emily isn't my sister by blood, but she's my sister in every other way, and just referring to her as a "friend" seems to be a slight, somehow. We're so similar that it's unnerving at times, and to say that I was surprised when I was looking through a page of Jewel's lyrics and found "Emily" and "Jessica" amongst the songs would be an understatement. I guess I was more amused than anything; I thought it was cute in a "Hey Em, lookit this!" sort of way. Then, when I discovered that the two shared lyrics.. well, that was just bizarre. It gave me chills. Ever since, I've been on the lookout for "Emily" and "Jessica." I was thrilled to get the "Jupiter" single, and I loved "Emily".. but I found that being able to hear *one* of the songs only whetted my appetite for the other even more. It felt to me like I'd been all over the internet searching for this one specific song, and I'd come *so close* several times: more than once, I'd turn up a RealAudio link, eagerly click on it, and discover it dead or outdated. If I find any gray hairs, I'm blaming them on this song. ;) This morning made up for everything, though. Thanks to TrixyEDA's page, I was *finally* able to listen to "Jessica." Maybe it was just the early hour, or the fact that I still hadn't had my coffee yet, but I found myself sitting in my lopsided chair in front of the computer at 7:15 AM with tears running down my face as I listened to "Jessica" for the first time. I think it's a beautiful song, even moreso than "Emily," and it just.. really hits me, you know? The relationship described in the song could easily describe the one between myself and Doug, my "best friend" if I'm still allowed to have one at this age! >g< People who have read "Jessica" ask me, "Has Doug seen this?" Because of this song, I don't intend to do any driving on December 25th (my birthday). Either I'll be sitting on my butt at home for those twenty-four hours, or Doug will be in that car with me! Superstitious? Me? No... =) To top things off, today I was involved in my first car accident. A few friends and I decided to go out to lunch together, and Doug wound up taking his own car while I rode with Kelly. It'd been drizzling all day, and the roads were slick; Kelly's old clunker of a car lost control and careened off the side of a road, sliding down a slight hill and crunching into a row of bushes. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but when Doug arrived a few minutes later, all I could think of was "Jessica." It was creepy. Despite the fact that "Jessica" and "Emily" both give me a mild case of the heebie-jeebies, I love both songs. I would give anything for a hard copy of "Jessica" -- are there any tapes or anything available? I'd heard that Jewel had recorded it before the release of "Spirit," but, other than that, I'm not sure...
