All the online lyric archives (on Jewel) credit this song to Jewel & Joy Eden Harrison. I don't know where that credit originated from, but Joy was not involved in writing that song. As someone mentioned, it sounds a lot like a Jewel/Steve Poltz collaboration, which it is. I think some confusion may have arisen long ago, when the first "EDA list tapes" called InnerChange Days" were compiled. Somewhere along the line, someone accidentily put a Joy Eden Harrison songwriting credit asterisk on the jcard next to "When I Was With You" by mistake. Two of Joy's songs do appear on the "InnerChange Days" tapes; "Where Have You Gone Jimmy Dean?" written by Joy alone and "The Man Who's Already Gone" which Joy & Jewel did write together, but "When I Was With You" is a Kilcher/Poltz collaboration. And since I'm on the topic anyway, Joy Eden Harrison's 1999 album "Unspoken" on Astarte Records is my favorite album release this year! If you still aren't hip to this album, you're really missing something. It's one of those rare recordings that continues to get better & more fascinating every time I listen. I highly recomend it. I just wanted to share a few thoughts on the whole Today Show thing today. Well, first, the Today Show performance was incredible. My friend Melissa and I saw someone we knew back from where we live on LI, and she got us backstage into Studio 1a and all that stuff, but Jewel had already left by the time we got there. Anyway ... the point of me making this post is to express my frustration with the attitude of the security guards at Coconuts. They were mean, rude, and ill-mannered. One person in particular threatened people with violence, and I know that there are a lot of young harmless Jewel fans out there that were utterly disappointed as they were yelled at by a power-hungry Coconuts staffer. I was just wondering if anyone else felt this way and if there was possibly a way that we can complain to Coconuts? Sorry for bothering you all with this long post, it was just that this was most definitely the low point of my day. Letterman is usualy on at about 12:00am, but for some reason the station didnt start showing it until about 1:15......for some reason that showed that really bad show renegade! Show anyways, Latterman came on about 20 mins after the today show started, so I was a little bit worried that the tow performances by Jewel might clash....anyways, first I watched the face of love on Letterman, and then I changed the station and saw Winter Wonderland, and THEN changed back to Letterman to see the interview, and THEN changed back to the Today program to see Whats Simple Is True (except that stupid channel 7 stop iot three quarters of the way through for an ad break on bloody Jurrasic Park!) and then I stayed on to watch Hands! I thought all her performances were spectacular! Especially the face of love, you could really see that she felt what she was singing......and we finaly foudn out about the boyfriend! I absoloutly love Hands even more now.....and that choir! Aye.... She looked sooooo beuatiful! And her lips looked exactly like they did on the Jupiter sungle and her hair and her cloths she just an amzingly beautiful women! In all likely hood I probably saw some of you EDA's on the tv, did any of you get on camera? If so, I probably saw you! Wow-got to meet Jewel and get her autograph today!! Yeah!! If my camera didn't stop working while I was waiting online, it would have been perfect!! Here's the details for those of you who are interested: Got to NYC too late to make it over to Today show and didn't feel like waiting in the rain (even for Jewel LOL). So, went right over to Coconuts. Waited in line for one hour-thought it would be crazier. I got right on the autograph line and next thing I know I'm standing in front of Jewel. Couldn't think of what to say, all happened so fast. Handed her Glamour (with her on the cover of course) and she signed it. Then I got the guts to say something so I said, "I'm a huge fan and you have to put out a CD of all live stuff or old stuff." The guy next to her said to her, see I told you and said to me that they had just been having that conversation. She said, "oh, thanks a lot" and then it was all a fleeting memory. I should have told her I was an EDA but couldn't even get the words out. My husband was a few people in back and when he got up there with the Joy CD he just kind of stood there and she said, are you going to give me that. He was kind of speechless. Jewel looked GREAT-better than I expected her to look in person. Think Ty Murray might have been with her or else it might have been her brother, because there was a young guy on top of her. Her voice was really soft, that was suprising, and when she stood up, she was shorter than she looks onstage. However, she has a lot of presence. Suprisingly, there didn't seem to be too many EDAs. In fact, I was getting annoyed because most people on line near us weren't so into Jewel but just wanted a famous person's autograph. The guards at Coconuts weren't too bad, despite what the other posts said. I thought they were pretty fair, considering that they needed to keep the line moving and I'm sure Jewel wanted to get out of there already. It was a very cool experience!!
