If there are as many people on this list as I've been told, it should be easy to raise a substantial amount of money for this project. I can't imagine why anyone hasn't donated yet, considering it has been talked about so much. I hope that many of you who haven't yet donated aren't expecting a few extra generous individuals to take up the slack for you. Imagine how disheartening it would be for Jewel to be presented with a gift that is much less than it should be, especially when it is given to her by the people who are supposed to be her most loyal fans. If WE aren't willing to give, then why should anyone else? I was at the alloy website, and I saw this article in the gossip collumn: JEWEL'S GOT REASON TO SMILE Unlike Gwen Stefani, who's currently sporting braces to correct an overbite, some stars have accepted those minor imperfections that distinguish them from the pack. Imagine Cindy Crawford without her mole, Madonna with out the gap in her front teeth? In fact, Jewel's famous crooked smile actually helped her score her first big-screen role. She plays the female lead role in the upcoming Ride With the Devil, a Civil War drama costarring Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich. The film's director, Ang Lee, told Glamour magazine, "She had a period upbringing and a period look. She's even got period teeth." Jewel graces the cover of Glamour's December issue as one of their "Women of the Year," honored for her music achievements, as well as her work for the Higher Ground For Humanity charity. Apparently Jewel's had even more reason to smile lately -- she's finally taking some long overdue time off with her boyfriend, Ty Murray. so, there you go...sorry if you guys new about this already. This is for anyone who has purchased Fiona Apple's new CD "When the Pawn..." I was wondering who else besides me thinks Jewel could do a cover of Fiona's song called "Paper Bag"? It reminds me of the style of V-12 Cadillac by Jewel, that appeared on the MOM II CD compilation. Kind of a more bluesy type of sound and rhythm. One part near the beginning is so much like something Jewel might do...the way Fiona carries her voice I mean. For those of you that haven't heard it, go out and buy the CD and you'll see what I'm talking about...and get MOM II also if you already haven't so you'll have something to compare (of course). She is exploring playing Alaska next Spring and regrets disappointing her fans and friends. Ticket holders can receive a refund at the place of purchase. The same applies to Fairbanks, however tickets never went on sale for that show. Now, onto some good news. "Ride With The Devil" opens next Wednesday in Los Angeles & NYC. Check local listings for theaters. The soundtrack CD includes the WSIT remix & is out Tuesday. There's also a nice full page photo of Jewel (as Sue Lee Shelly) in the CD booklet. Jewel will be on David Letterman next Thursday night & does an outdoor miniconcert for The Today Show on Friday morning, where she'll perform 3 or 4 songs from her new album. Following her performance at The Today Show next Friday, (Nov 26th,) Jewel will be doing an In-Store CD signing at Coconuts in New York City (at 51st St. & 6th Ave). I'll let you know what time early next week. The "Sessions At 54th Street" special will begin airing on many PBS stations around the country NEXT weekend. Check your local PBS listings or call your state's PBS station for accurate scheduling. I know in some areas, this is being put on hold for PBS pledge drives & in some areas it'll be shown on Christmas night instead (that applies to WGBY in Massachusetts which we carry here.) It will be on PBS stations Friday the 26th & Saturday the 27th in some areas, though. Also, a NEW version of the official Jewel Website in coming soon. We have a lot of new ideas & a great team working away on it. In the meantime, a lot of the "basic content" has been recently updated. We recently revamped the main bio (which will soon be expanded into a new feature) & all the Headlines & Rumor sections have been updated. The Jewel Store is also dramatically improved for much easier navigation. If you haven't been to these features in a while, its a good way to catch up on everything going on. I also updated the calendar minutes ago. Have a look at www.jeweljk.com. Also, thanks for all your "HGH EDA Project" donations! I'll try to post status on EDA contributions early next week. I think that about covers it. A very busy week next week..... so I'm off to enjoy the weekend! Have a great weekend yourself!
