Why haven't there been any volunteers who wanted to help the eda project succeed ? This is a way of getting yourself on the landscape, and help Jewel for the good cause. I hope that we can arrange something so that the european fans won't let Jewel down. For example we can collect money, and send it to the HGH foundation with addresses of her dedicated european fans. i think Jewel would appreciate this. So any discussions about this are more than welcome on my emailaddress. Take care european Jewelfans, and let's make the Jewel christmas card work. Here's updates about those shows. I don't know artist lineup for all four shows & I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TICKETS, so if you live in these areas, check it out locally & let the rest know any additional info. Here's what I do know: Thursday, Dec 9: KALC FM Christmas Concert, Ritchie Center, Denver, CO Wednesday, Dec 15: KISS 108 FM Jingle Ball, venue TBA, Boston, MA (We're not sure, but we think this will be an afternoon performance at The Avalon.) Thursday, Dec 16: THE BEAT 107.5 FM Christmas Concert, Schnitzer Auditorium, Portland, OR (Barenaked Ladies & Jude are on this bill in addition to Steve Poltz) Friday, Dec 17: STAR 100.7 FM Jingle Ball Cox Arena, San Diego State University, San Diego, CA (Mellissa Etheridge & Lou Bega are on this bill in addition to Steve Poltz) Thats all I know about these holiday gigs. Check locally & on Jewel's website calendar as more info becomes available. Now, onto the status of the JMerch "Jewel Ornament/Live Joy Album Video" website special. These are flying! The entire initial inventory is sold out, but a second FINAL batch is still available. We expect these to last approximately two more weeks & then the 1999 ornaments are gone. So don't delay if you want to take advantage of the special going on now. The original info explaining this (for those who don't know what I'm talking about) follows this message below. That's about it today. A big THANK YOU to the EDAs who are participating in Jewel's EDA Christmas present by donating to HGH! Alan PS: Info about the "Ornament/LIVE Joy video special": Some cool news from JMerch (aka Jewel's Website Store) !! Looking for a cool Christmas gift for Jewel fans? We have something brand new for you at Jewel's website store. It's the first in a new series of ornaments for the holiday season. This year's 1999 ornament is called "Angel Standing By" & features Jewel's artwork hand poured in Cobalt blue glass. These ornaments are fired from recycled glass by Aurora Glass run by the St. Vincent de Paul non-profit organization. You can view the ornament (& order it, of course, at www.jeweljk.com). The price of these collector ornaments is $24.95 and they come with a very cool bonus! For every ornament purchased, we will include a FREE "Joy" VIDEO of Jewel performing her new album LIVE at "Sessions At West 54th Street" in NYC with Arif Marden conducting. Thats right, the same "Sessions" show that the EDAs attended back in September. This video will NOT be sold in stores & the only place you can get it right now, is from us FREE, with any ornament purchase. The video should not be confused with Jewel's new home video "Jewel: A Life Uncommon". It's totally different & is the one hour "Sessions At West 54th Street" PBS Christmas Special featuring Jewel, choir, small orchestra & an EDA audience. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 00:03:34 GMT From: "X-Aron-X ." Subject: * SJC please read Hi all you angels, Well I have some kind of stupid stuff to say. the other day I was driving to work and seen a out of state plate that had 5 things on it. a handicap sign and I think a "5" then 3 letters "EDA"kind of interesting. The Second thing is I've been seening alot of post requesting videos. It made me think about the Angel Food Bank. Now that is just for tapes, Right. Well is there one for videos? If not I think one should be started. I would be willing to bye a second vcr to do it if there is not one already started. Well this last thing some of you might have read about on Jewelkilcher.com, I was kind of hesatent to post this. I fell like after you read it you'll be mad. Ill give you a little bit a back ground behind it first. I had found out Jewel was going to be performing in San francisco a little after my birthday. and I was kind of depressed about my birthday( im only 19, I don't know Why I was depressed) and I had baught my self a ticket to see her. well it was one of three things I got. my dad got me a bass and Jewel kind of gave me somthing at the concert. but be fore I tell you what it is. Ill tell you how kind hearted I was trying to be. they had these mardi gras style beads that were being given out. gold and green. I liked the green ones better so I thought hay why not give some to Jewel. well I felt like I had a heart attack when I seen her. and then when she finally got I stage I through some up to her. and well I have bad aim. and she did not catch them, they ended up hitting her in the chest. can you guess what she gave me. the middle finger. I felt so bad afterwards. I had gotten depressed over that and thought I was not good enough to be a Jewel fan. well needless to say her talent and beauty over powered that thought. Well let me know what you think about this post. And please only positive comments. Remember I get depressed easly. Wow! I read the article on Jewel in the Glamour Magazine. Can you imagine giving 40% of your salary up to charity? I know she makes a lot of money, but she really makes a huge difference. I do not want to put my nose where it shouldn't be, but imagine if people like Bill Gates, who have all the money in the world and Forbes, if they gave even a little, what a difference the world would be. Garth Brooks is one like Jewel who is really giving to charity. I wrote this in an early post, but I would like to get swamped with personal email on why you like Jewel? What led you to liking Jewel? It won't take long. Please if you have the time email me and tell me why and how you came to like Jewel. Was it her voice, kindness, willingness to be different, etc. Thanks and I am looking forward to reading emails. I mean if their are 3000 members then their are 3000 different reasons. I mean we all know everything about here but I didn't know she and Christopher Douglas broke up when was this? And how long has she been dating the rodeo star from Texas? I got a smile out of it, and I hope you do, too! ----- Screen Gem: Jewel shines in her movie debut First-time actress Jewel was at a bit of a disadvantage while filming this month's Civil War drama "Ride With the Devil," in which she plays a Southern widow who finds love again. "Ang [Lee, the director] kept saying, 'Hit your mark,'" she says. "I didn't know what he meant. I thought it was some emotional thing. He finally explained that it was an actual mark on the ground. I was like, '*Ohhhh*.'" But co-stars Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich didn't hold it against the singer. They were too busy trying to stay on their horses, while Jewel, who practically grew up on a horse, was stuck riding a mule. "I can't show my face around my father now," she says. ----- Also, if you're interested in the picture, it should be up at http://members.limitless.org/~taan/photos/US-1299.jpg -- provided my server's working, that is... :) Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone! - --Jess ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 17:16:12 -0500 From: "Michael S Hussey" Subject: * Favorite Jewel Songs I was wondering what is your top 3 favorite Jewel songs? Theirs alot of us on this list and we are here for one reason, Jewel. She's given us sooo much with her music, now it's time to show our appreciation and give alittle back to her and show her that we are as caring and 'giving' as we say we are.
