Dear Eda's, I haven't posted in a very long time. However, i have been on the list for about 3-4 yers now or something like that. After a while i guess you start to find things less interesting, and only read the ones with good sounding subjects. Anywho, I think this donating thing is a very mature and rational realization for the EDA's. I know many of you would like to buy a gift for Jewel. Not to downplay on this kind thought ,but realistically what do you give the girl who has the world? A tomato slicer? Just a friendly reminder about the EDA Jewel Airplay Webpage. In case you're new to the EDA List, the EDA Jewel Airplay Webpage is a webpage set up to help promote Jewel's music on radio and television stations. A few months ago I started the page dedicated to providing a simple way to concentrate the power of the EDAs into a voice that can be used to promote Jewel's songs on the radio. I've compiled a list of the song request e-mail addresses of several radio stations and music channels together, and linked them so that we can e-mail them and request that they play Jewel's songs more often. All you have to do is visit the page once a week and click on each of the e-mail links and ask that they play Jewel's new single "What's Simple Is True." It's just that easy. Remember to visit the site at least once a week and click on the links. Persistance is the key in making this work. I've already gotten a fairly good response from fellow EDAs and I'd like to encourage them to continue the good work! :-) So without further delay, here's the site, visit today and often: http://members.xoom.com/dwstudios/jewel/index.htm Thanks, Jason "The Airplay Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Nov 1999 20:19:07 -0600 From: Jason Bartel Subject: * EDA Kiss the Flame Video Hi all, I debated about whether or not to do this for a while, but I finally broke down and decided "why not". A few months ago, during a fit of inspiration given to me while listening to Jewel's "Spirit" I decided to try and make a music video from one of her songs. It took me a little while, but I decided on "Kiss the Flame". The entire video is Computer generated, and while it is my first attempt at such an enormous undertaking, I'm fairly happy with it. It took over a month to create from start to finish. Some of the scenes even took 2-3 days just to render. While I was working on it, I'd show pieces to friends and family to see what they thought, but needless to say they couldn't seem to see what inspired all of this. So when I finished it, I set it aside and didn't think much about it. Well, I found the EDAs a few months ago and finally found a group of people who also found inspiration in Jewel. So after much debate, I decided to share this with people who feel the same way. The video has been compressed into RealVideo G2 format. Instructions on how to download and play the video can be found on the page I set up to host the video. The video is on Xoom.com so there may be periods of "outages" where it's unavailable. If you get an error message, just try back later. Here's the page: http://members.xoom.com/dwstudios/jewel/video.html I'd really appreciate any feedback on this video. But please keep in mind this was my first endeavor into a music video length CG work. I'm planning on doing "Barcellona" next. Even though I live in Australia, it would be fantastic for me to contribute to something that Jewel will be proud of us eda's. Like her saying goes 'Be the difference that makes a difference'. I really like the idea of adopting a location. That way we can see how we are helping HGH. I'm all for it. Where do I send the money? Hi all, It's pretty obvious many of you support Louise's idea of EDA contributions to HGH as a thanks to Jewel during the holidays. As far as exact procedure on how to send your contribution to HGH, just sit tight. As I mentioned, I'll be discussing next step logistics with Shane & HGH staff for you this Wednesday. I should have the best HGH procedural information for you shortly thereafter. There's no need for any EDAs to collect donations. If the EDAs really want to do this, then HGH will relay easy reliable procedures for you to follow. That way, you'll be contributing directly to HGH/Clearwater & be included on the card & counted toward the EDA contribution total. If The EDAs are going to support this idea, what you can concentrate on NOW is finding amongst yourselves: 1) talented EDAs to design & create the card 2) eloquent EDAs to write the "card message" to Jewel I'd also suggest finding a manager of the card project to be my contact (& to keep track of EDA names for the card, getting them to the designers, etc). And of course actually getting the finished card to us by the "to be determined" deadline, so Jewel can actually recieve it on Christmas. Keeping the EDA momentum going is also going to be a challenge. But first I'd suggest getting a reliable EDA "creative team" together. I can help by communicating between the EDAs & HGH, but I'm honestly too busy to oversee the card aspects (& I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so.). If the EDAs really want to do this project, you must figure out how to cooperate together to accomplish these goals over the next month. So... GO FOR IT! Also, I agree with a couple of other people on here that have pointed out that we need to get organized, and then jump in there and start on this thing. I know I'm really new to the list, but if there is any way that I can help with the "writing the messege on the card" phase of the project or any other area for that matter, I'd love to help.
