EDA's in Australia, I have had many replies in regards to Life Uncommon in Australia...I rang the HMV store in the city today, and they said that Life Uncommon will be released at the same time as "Joy" which means on the 15th of November...so there ya'go! Well, I think this is a perfect example of how she has. Do you think Jewel would have the guts to walk off stage at a festival concert these days? I doubt it. Anyone agree? Disagree? I'm just curious because, like I said, I think it's an excellent example for the change argument. I remember hearing about that incident and being very happy that Jewel took a stand. I just see her taking many stands anymore. I see her as more or less bending to other people's wills. If interested I will send you my angelfood list, the most rare items being pictures from the Toronto concert and an audio tape of the Toronto concert. I also have some other stuff as well, mostly audio tapes. Thanks! Well, I think this is a >perfect example of how she has. Do you think Jewel would have the guts to >walk off stage at a festival concert these days? I doubt it. Anyone agree? >Disagree? Me! Me! I do! :-) Yeah, I disagree with your reasoning. I agree she would not walk off today (as you also say). However, in my opinion it has nothing to do with HER changing, but has everything to do with her popularity changing. Let's face it, she was a relative unknown then (May 31, 1996). "Who Will Save Your Soul", her first single to chart, hadn't even hit the top 40 yet (coincidentally, it entered the charts the very next DAY, #36 on Caseys' Top 40). It's safe to say a VERY small percentage of folks in that crowd had ever heard of her, much less were there to see her specifically. (the crowd was giving "that blond" a hard time) Of course she wouldn't walk off stage in a festival concert today....she'd be one of the if not THE headliner. The promoter would have a coronary....back then the promoter likely (OK....possibly) didn't bat an eyelash when she left. Mike :-) P.S. To some of the folks on this list who get "upset" when stuff like this (opposing viewpoints) happens, this is *not* arguing....it's discussion :-) Politely discussing similar OR opposite sides of a point is one of the reasons this list was formed back in 1995. (of course the MAIN reason was to spread the word and share news and information with other fans of this new artist with one name :-) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Nov 1999 22:16:53 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: * RE: "Joy" in Canada It's already been released! i live in Toronto and i went to my local record store on Tuesday morning and found several copies of it. I don't think that Jewel, bends to other people's wills. I am quite sure that if while she was singing the whole group of people were chanting for somebody else adn they threw a frisbee at her she would walk out. But on the other hand that would never happen, nowadays, because she is so much bigger. Also I think that she would be able to do it more easily now, with her name already established and its not like she would not be paying the bills if she left one festival. I know that at a few of the many Jewel concerts that I have been to, people have said something or thrown something at ther and she would do or say something to that person that isnt exactly acceptable. Also did anybody have anything to say on my last post. PLEASE PLEASE. I mean, to have people throw stuff at you is not fun no matter who you are....(okay, so maybe tom jones likes panties being thrown at him, but I down they hurt quite as much as frisbees, keys, bottles, etc) she was right to walk out.. that frisbee hit her pretty good, and had to be a distraction.. (it was really well thrown!! I've always wondered if an EDA throw it... if any of ya'll did, don't admit to it to the list with your real email name, as likely at the next EDA event you will be stoned....(or if you are not there, then we'll likely make a doll of you and stone that, because some of us take ourselves too seriously and all.. but anyway... it was a good shot, though I have to admit, a very bone-headed thing to do...) anyway for people who did not see the video or was not there, she sounded very pissed off when she said "thank you" , unplugged and walked off.... okay, well, i've posted (to prove I'm still alive and kicking..) sweet water and light laughter, rowdy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #655 ***************************
