My name is Brynn. I have been a Jewel Luva for about 3 years maybe more. And I just want to say that her poetry, music and wisdom has saved my life. I am going to share my story with you EDA's that I dont just share with anyone.... A couple years ago, My brother was diagnosed with Leukemia, and my whole family was suffering from depression, and we were all so incrediably scared that we were going to lose him. But we didnt.... YAY! And we were all very happy that he was "cured" I was molested 2 years ago by a "friend" behind a school with people watching... and I honestly thought that was the end of my life! After that everyhting started to go down hill. About 5 months ago, I was living with my mom in FL (my parents were divorced when I was 6, and since then I was with my dad) and her husband beat me, and I got him arrested, and My mom chose him over me, and sent me back to CT. My Grandpa died of...Alzheimers,Parkinsons, Cancer, and old age, on my Birthday. (well an hour after) Ever since I found out he was sick, I was scared he wouldnt last to see my 15th birthday, But he lived an hour more.... I was thankful, but I was soo sad at the same time. This past march, My brother's cancer came back, and this time he had to get a bone marrow transplant, but no one matched his blood type. So, the doctors took his bone marrow and cleaned it and gave it back to him (it has a name, I just forget) Right now, he is recovering from that. About a month ago, I was very depressed and low. And I cut myself, my friend online, who lives in AZ called the cops on me, because I told her how I was feeling, and what I was doin, I think I told her, becase I really didnt want to die. Honestly, I dont know. But the cops came to my house, and took me to the hospital, and I only stayed a few hours, but while I was sitting in thae room, all I could do, was think about Jewel, and her music, and her poetry. For about 2 hours I was singing her songs, reciting her poetry, and just thinking to myslef... "I havent met her yet, its not my time to go" Her music, and poetry, and wisdom honestly save my life. I feel she is my guardian angel. And I was meant to meet her.... and one day I will. It is probably in a hidden directory on the CD entitled "Content" and there will be an MPG file which should be openable using the latest version of Windows Media Player. If not, I believe it is possible to open it with Xing MPEG Player? Hope that helps some people. I don't check them out, but apparently discussions are occurring on various message boards over this topic and I guess general confusion over this issue is common. Some of you have forwarded various postings to me claiming Jewel practices everything from devout Catholicism to Black Magic! I found something last night that may be of interest to those of you discussing this. As you know, we invited many EDAs to attend Jewel's "VH1 Storytellers" taping in NYC last June & approximately half an hour was devoted to EDAs asking Jewel various questions, some of which did not air on the edited VH1 broadcast version. Below you will find a transcript of Jewel herself addressing this EDA question. I think this particular EDA question was edited out of the broadcast version. An EDA (I don't know who, but feel free to identify yourself) asked a two part question, the 2nd part which was: Q: "Jewel, I was wondering, what are your own spiritual beliefs?" Jewel answered as follows: A: "I wasn't raised with any particular religion. I was conceived however, in a fit of Mormon passion...... which I find amusing. But I wasn't particularly raised with any religion and I guess I'm kind of thankful for that. I've studied many religions & I find them to be very similar. I find more similarities than I do differences. I, like many people, of course find it grievous that so many wars are fought over the differences. I believe in God. I don't necessarily think that means some guy in the sky watching you. I was raised on the land where you can't help but feel there's something bigger than you out there. And I like that. But, i ran over to Tower right from class today, leaping over cars, flying through crowds, with the adrenaline rush of obtaining the new CD. I run up the stairs and speak to an employee who checks on his computer and says that it wont be releases until the 9th. I say, No, it was released yesterday. I have known about this CD for months, and people have bought it already, and today is the release date on her official website. So he asks another employee who says he remembers seeing it in the back. I guess he felt bad for me so he went in the back and found the CD, then proceeded to tell me that i started an all out debate and war in the backroom amongst employees confused when the true release date was. He said that he has seen it in Best Buy yesterday and was confused why it wasnt out in his store today. Figured I might as well write since I haven't in awhile. Well, bright and early yesterday I raced to Media Play and searched for it. They actually put it with the New Releases at the front of the store, which they don't seem to do with Jewel, so I completely walked by it... Long story short- took me 20 minutes to find it, almost having freaked out in the process :-) Anyway... I was going to do a song by song review but I haven't gotten a chance to actually sit and listen to the whole cd at once. just a song here and there. I absolutely love it! Each song is great in its own way, in my opinion. Since it actually snowed here in Western NY today (well, no accumulation yet but cold as all heck!) , I've got my hot chocolate and will be relaxing with Jewel tonight :-) The video on the CD is really nice too. I didn't think I'd be a fan of Gloria, but now that has definitely changed. I think the video was a little tease though because now I REALLY can't wait for 'A Life Uncommon' to come to my door!
