Hmmmmm, won't buy much these days will it? But at least we add up. hehehe *------------------ And then Crystal said,..-----------* >There is no "new" Jewel. I have seen countless amounts of interviews >where she thanks us, her "fans" for sticking by her and letting her >grow as an artist. She is Jewel, the same Jewel who released WWSYS > and >the same Jewel released the new speed up "poppy" version of >Jupiter. *------------------------------------------------------* Ah, I am afraid I have to disagree with you here my dear. There is a new Jewel, each and every morning. I'm disagreeing but not in the way you might think. Jewel is a person and each and every person learns and grows. That's just the way it is. Now, I don't know if you watched story tellers but at one point she was discribing meeting Steve. Remember that? This shy little thing that wanted to know if he wanted some tea and by the way, I sing you know. That shy little girl has definately changed my friend. But in all the good ways I think. Five years ago Jewel was just getting started, young, nieve, full of hunger, dreams, the excitement and possibilities of a new life, a new career. She's come a long way since then. She's grown up into a very savy, intelligent, multifaceted and multitalented woman. And the greatest part of all is that we, her fans were able to watch as this little cute caterpillar changed into the beautiful butterly we see and love today. An angel, who spread her wings, and learned to fly and soar high, very high indeed. Jewel has matured both as a person, a woman and as an artist. I don't know about all the rest of you but I feel very privilaged to have been witness to her accomplishements. How many times have I said this now, "thanks for sharing with us Jewel". *---------------- And Crystal is still talking,...--------* >She has and always will be who she is. I think it is totally unfair > of us >to ask of her to stay the same, when obviously she has so >much talent, she can grow in many different directions. *---------------------------------------------------------* I agree with you a 100% here. She still has the same passion and fire for her art and her message. I have seen a lot of posts lately regarding the "New" Jewel. Questions about different styles, selling out, blah, blah, blah. But hey, this is a "Jewel Fan List" so I guess thats pretty much to be expected. I think its okay to discuss any issues relating to her career, her work, her style. I don't however like to see her personal, private life discussed. So has Jewel "Sold Out"? Is she a different Jewel? Maybe the answer to that is to be found in why people care so much about these kinds of questions. What is it exactly that they see in her and are so afraid of changing or perhaps losing? The "Jewel Effect", thats what. Remember when I said that her art shines brightly for those who take the time to listen? Well it does more then shine, it fills peoples hearts and lifts their spirits. I think we sometimes forget just how powerful music, poetry and indeed all the arts are. They touch something deep within us. But then, thats exactly what they are supposed to do. Jewel burst upon the scene and captivated all those who took the time to listen. Here was this young, beautiful, innocent girl who sang with the voice even the angels envied. Put this in combination with lyrics of warmth, intelligence and intence feelings and you have the "Jewel Effect" She cuts into peoples hearts and thoughts like very few artists can. These are what are called "Great Artists" They endure, they change themselves and those around us. They effect us. So many artists today lack this "effect". They are cookie cutter clones spewing out contrite formulated mush. Jewel was and still is a unique and singular phenomena. You know what I mean my friends, she's a really Kewel Jewel, of a Jewel. I think what some are afraid of is that Jewel will water down her effect in order to "market" herself. My friends, you of all people should know by now that nothing can tame or dillute her spirit or commitment to her dream. In this regard she is the same, perhaps even greater, one and only Jewel Kilcher. Jewel has just begun to develop and shape her awesome talents. Think of POY as a series of pencil or charcoal drawings. Think of Spirit as her first attempt at water colors. She added depth and color, passion and thought to an already impressive list of accomplishments. Now just think my friends what her next works of art will be like. Then realize how fortunate we are to have first row seats to this great artist unfold before us her wonderful, beautiful performance, she calls her art. What masterpieces yet await us my friends? *------------- And finally Crystal said,....---------------* >If you don't like what you hear, then don't buy the single, and/or > don't >listen to it. Yes you have a right to your opinion, and you >have a right to voice it, but so do I. > >~Crystal~ The angel who hardly ever posts *----------------------------------------------------------* You only left out one small little thing Crystal. A great big smily face :-) Ah, thats better, doesn't Crystal have a very nice smile everyone? Now go out and buy one, no make that two! singles and decide which you prefer, cause your going to "like" one and "love" the other. Well, I guess I've been a little long winded here. But I feel kind of strong about this. Jewel is like any other person, who needs to know at times they are apreciated for who and what they are. Jewel "is" her art. It is her dream. I just want her to know, where ever she may be that many of us really do love her music and her passion to fufill her dream. She is a difference in an industry full of indifference and mediocrity. She is a one and only, unique, and wonderful phenomena. She's such a Jewel. Now my friends, lets help and encourage her to stay that way and to grow and achieve all that are possible in dreams. Jewel, may all your dreams come true. Thanks for letting us share them with you. Thanks for being that ever changing, ever growing, ever beautiful effect we call ((((( YOU! )))).
