To keep it short and simple, it matters a lot and it should be our business as fans. I was just short of outraged at her apparent conversion to Christiainity as evidence by the songs she chose to perform at Sessions at West 57th. Why? Because it contradicts the powerful messages of her songs and of her early interviews, which were much more concerned with simple human kindness, philosophy and secular humanism. That is a great part of what made me a Jewel fan, that she was the kind of person who didn't thank god or praise the lord after she won an American Music Award or other such award. I admired that she used lyrics like "We are that to which we pray" and "God kills children with our very own hands," and "As children we are told that from god we fell." For her to lean towards Christianity now, after all of that, seems a bit hypocritical to me. So that's why it's my business and that's why it is of interest to this list. It does have to do with her music. Because we all love Jewel and her music of course. All of us have this in common, but we each have our own specific personal reasons for being on the list. I personally am on the list because I like to know all the latest info about Jewel's performances, I like to hear other people's opinions on her music, I like to know when and where she is going to perform at, and just because I am a BIG Jewel Fan. I'm sure that there are people on this list that actually do like to hear the gossip. But gossip tends to be bad because no one knows the absolute truth about anything in Jewel's personal life (except Mr.BB lol!). I'm just trying to say that negative comments about Jewel are NOT cool (i.e. saying she's fat) but things like discussing who's she's seeing are not hurting anybody, and I'm sure they're not hurting Jewel. As for the 'Christian' business, wondering if Jewel is a Chrisian is not harming anyone, so I think its an acceptable post. I just hope that there are no more negative posts. Just my thoughts.
