I just picked up a copy of the October 4 issue of TIME magazine (asia) and there's a nice picture of Jewel on page 56. Jewel is shown riding a horse together with co-star Tobey Maguire. Just thought you guys would want to check it out. Btw, thanks a bunch to Gerrit for providing the TAB for 1000 miles away, you rock! Hi also to Shannon! Ian ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 15:21:24 EDT From: "Elizabeth Baker" Subject: * jeez, ppls... DSL Copied? Who cares?! There have been many things copied, especially in music. What are you all saying?? So many people have done it, and yet each song has its own flavor. LDWMJ is a beautiful song, I love Tom Petty, but DSL has more of a rocker-grrl undertone to it, which sounds keweler than the sadistic melodys of Petty. The alphabet song (abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz now I know my ABCs, tell me what you think of me) is the same as Twikle Twinkle Little Star, in case anyone failed to notice. I'm surprised, however, how people on this list can move from one argument to another, each putting in their two cents. In fact, I want some people to join me on debate team, maybe we'll win for a change! :) However, I have to complain, whine, bitch, whatever way you want to put it about how some posts never make it to the list. I'll admit, a post with a recipe for Jello Shots doesn't need to be put up, but someone's opinion on something, or a question that may have nothing to do with Jewel, but important to someone (ie: can any British EDAs tape a British show for me??) or sumthing like that, should be able to go up. My little 2 cents. :) ~L ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 17:08:24 -0400 From: "Kristin Segura" Subject: * Re: Jewel on Access Hollywood tonight - What was Jewel doing on Access Hollywood? We run an annual age/location survey on this list (Well, Brett runs it) With roughly 25% of the subscribers repying, we had two EDAs chime in at 52 last January, and one at 57. Since only 25% replied, one figures there are more EDAs over 50. The age stats are below. Mike :-) Age Survey Totals (January 1999): 719 list members replied 3,057 subscribers to Jewel, Jewel-digest & Jewel-news combined 2,400 estimated actual people (many subscribe to more than one list & more than one address) Average age = 20.91 Last years' (1998) survey average was 20.65 years of age For the survey in the fall of 1996, the average was a shade over 23 years old. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 17:55:10 -0400 From: "Kristin Segura" Subject: [none] Does anyone have an extra copy of the CMAs? Ok, first off, about ribbons, I can't get the angel pins. I only have one, and the store that sells them was robbed (oh, yes, it is the life!!). So, I am holding the ribbons together with a glue gun, and sending back the extra money it was for the pin. Ok? Ok! Oh, and Unicorn dreamer person (sorry, not good with names!!! :)), I got your 5 dollars! Secondly, I am going to begin a project with an EDA cover tape that should be finished by Christmas. It's taking the place of the gathering I had started planning in the summer, because EVERY theater is booked!!! :0 from now until January 18th, 2000!!!! :0 *Shocked* So if anyone wants to do songs, I am allowing more than one person to do the same song, and contributors will get a free tape. The others will be probably around 2 or 3 dollars, incl. shipping and stuff. So if n e one is interested, give me a buzz!! ~L ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 19:25:14 CDT From: "Krista Webb" Subject: * Jewel femininity Hi Jewel fans, I was reading Wed. edition of JD and ran across a letter saying something about how the Indigo Girls where bashing Jewel, and then the EDA went on to say "you can't call Jewel a sell-out or a bimbo just because she dresses like one a lot." I could not believe what I saw. All I have to say on the issue is that the way Jewel dresses shows her graceful curves and she always looks beutiful, she dresses far from being a bimbo. I first didn't believe that this was hers and when i took the backing off of the frame it said that if i can prove that this signature is other than the person represented, they'll get me the real thing. does anybody know if jewel does signatures for companies like this, or has actuall gotten her autograph and had it look like that? thanks. fiona - --- Http://surf.to/501beautyqueen :: AIM Jewel9283 get your free gURLmAIL at http://www.gURLmAIL.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 21:50:33 +0000 From: "Sharon" Subject: * "Money" lyrics............ I can't help but wonder if she's sitting back somewhere reading all this and becoming quite embarassed. I wonder this because she seemed to know a lot about Jewel back then, so she must have been a fan (I mean I suppose she was a fan....if she wasn't she sure seems to have known a lot about her) and quite possibly on the list if she knew the song lyrics and tune and all. Well that's just my observation. Of course I could be wrong. And maybe she used to be an EDA but isn't any more. Oh well, just my thoughts on the subject.
