Hello angels, Ok I saw the CMA's last night and was absolutely blown away by Jewel. She looked lovely, she sang beautifully as always, and when she did that line "I love you too" or "I love you" something like that,I got shivers, the tone in her voice and the look on her face ;-) But I noticed something, her beautiful black dress was tight inthe stomach. And she looks just as slim and gorgoeus as always as far as the rest of her body goes (not that she looked unattractive in any way cause she didnt!!),but she had a little ummm bulge in the stomach part of her dress that might indicate she was pregnant. Or was it just a bad fitting dress?LOL. Well if she is pregnant I have to say congratulations! And if shes not sorry if I insulted anyone, totaly did not mean to,but I couldnt help but notice it and wondered if someone knew something I didnt. Oh and one more thing,a special thank you to Debbie. You know what for :) Thanks! And I love your site! So does n e 1 know when they will be on gain, or did anyone tape the jewel part, or the whole thing? I would very much appreciate it! Thank ya! The song I'm talking about is the song they played when Jewel was talking about her mom. The clip they played had the lines: Nobody knows it But you've got a secret smile And you use it only for me. (It was a guy singing) I really like the song even though I've heard maybe 10 seconds of it. If anyone has any info it would be GREATLY appreciated. First the CMA's, Jewels performance wasnt very good. She was very quiet and lacked emotion, just not her normal self. I think she was nervious, that was a tough crowd last night. I didnt really like the song much either- sorry Merle. I hope Jewel's next album is rock oriented. I really like her country but it is similar to her brand of pop music and I'd like so see the stuff the public isnt accustomed to released, so they can begain to see the other sides of Jewel that we as EDA's are already pretty accustomed to seeing and hearing. Personally, I havent heard a lot of Jewel's rock stuff and I really like what I have heard. On a final note Jewel's "Rocker Girl" personality isnt seen much by the public, with the exception of Storytellers and I would really like to see their reaction to Jewel the Rocker Girl Eliot~centralfloridaangel Lemon1@hotmail.com wigglytooth523@hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 18:02:18 EDT From: Beemer430@aol.com Subject: * tablature Hey...I know this will sound like a stupid thing to ask, but does anyone have the tab for "You Were Meant for Me"? From what I hear, he invited Jewel and her ex-boyfriend to some event of his and that is how they met. How do I know this you may ask and I'll be happy to tell ya. I live in Ellensburg WA where every Labor Day weekend we have our "famous" Rodeo in which Ty competed in this year. His special guest was, yeah you guessed it Jewel. Jewel was here for a couple days and I know quite a few people who got to talk to her. Of course me being and EDA and all I wasn't able to. It's kind of ironic because I always leave town during the weekend to escape the Rodeo/Fair. I thought it was awesome that Jewel came here to my small in the middle of nowhere town. I was just disapointed about not getting to meet her. Take care Everyone. My thoughts on the CMA's was that it was a very nice performance. A nice change from watching her perform the "Latest Single" in my opinion anyhow. I found one of the most interesting moments to be how Vince Gill introduced her as a "Pop, Folk, Rock singer". It made me think about just how hard it is to classifly Jewel's music right now. Especially if you only hear the radio bits. There's the almost bluesy WWSYS, that power ballad FG, mid-tempo Hands, the rock-out vibe in DSL and the extreme Poppy sound of Jupiter. I found that interesting. I'm thinking that maybe this is why Jupiter and DSL didn't exactly burn up the charts and airwaves, the two things I can think of in common with these singles is that a) They are both kinda untypical Jewel and B) they both have mediocre videos. They're OK videos, but compared to works of art Like Hands and YWMFM, they're just OK. I mean, both those songs are as radio friendly as they come so it just doesn't make sense to me, and thats all I can come up with! Maybe what the public really wants right now is for artists not to change and make good video's! :) - -Greg Every Day Angel / Fumbler Towards Ectasy / Guitar Strummer Wannabe Actor / Poem and Song Writer / In LOVE w/JEWEL W E A R E L O V E D B E Y O N D O U R A B I L I T Y T O C O M P R E H E N D ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 21:09:16 EDT From: MAXMOUZE@aol.com Subject: Re: Jewel-News: * SNL CD In a message dated 9/23/99 5:53:54 PM Pacific Daylight Time, POYJewel@aol.com writes: << I was at the mall yestarday and i saw that SNL has 2 cds out with live preformances for the music guest that appeard so right away i looked for JEWEL and there she was on the first one and she sings WWSYS so look out for it. >> How funny that they chose this when Jewel actually forgot the words and sang the third verse as the second verse, thus repeating a verse twice. - -- Mark ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 21:17:00 EDT From: CaitAdaire@aol.com Subject: * RE: is Jewel Pregnant? First off, I apologize to any of you who are 100% country fans, but I left after Jewel and Merle's duet. It really wasn't anything to do with hating country in particular, I just can't deal with Awards Shows in general.. Now, onto the comments.. Besides getting to see Jewel perform, the other two highlights for me were finally getting to see The Dixie Chicks (I've been hearing about them a lot, but I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Now, I know -- I've added them to my list of CDs to try and get before year's end) perform, as well as Dwight Yoakum's performance (which was cool, even if it was a cover of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love")... As for the Jewel/Merle performance.. Jewel, pardon the kinda-sorta-unintentional pun, was dazzling. Merle, on the other hand, was dry and crusty, like an bagel left in the toaster oven 30 seconds too long. What was his deal? I know of Merle and how he is like a Country Music God, but last night, he looked like he was stripped of his Godhood. He seemed tired, like he wasn't into it. I dunno, maybe it was just me (considering I am the only one to remark on this), but he wasn't the Merle I remembered hearing about.. Jewel grew up singing a few Merle Haggard songs, so she does have respect for him as a musician. He has sung for quite a long time-- many years longer than Jewel has. She respects that, and she made sure that she did not drown him out on their duet. I think it was very thoughtful of Jewel to do that. (I remember the first Diva's Live concert when all of the "divas" drowned out Carole King on the final song-- and she wrote it. That upset me.) Sincerely, Drew Krewer :o) *everyone deserves personal kindness* ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Sep 1999 21:14:43 EDT From: "Carolyn Lake" Subject: *CMA *gags* Hi! I am prolly the only one who thinks this, but I hated it. Okay, amybe not hated it. Just stongly disliked it. Ok, first off, the show itself was boring and long. All that country made my head spin. I REALLY hope Jewel doesn't do country! Second, that Merle guy. I reliease that he is a VERY respected country singer for the past few generations, and prolly as long as he lives. But last night he looked dead, and like he put no emotion into the song. Jewel did a very good job singing, espically in front of all these country singers who prolly didnt know what to think of her! Although I thought it was a very bland song. I would buy it on a single, but not the whole cd. Also the dress didnt fit very well, which took eyes from her up made up face (thank God!) to that lil thingy.
