Hey, Fellow Angels, I'm replying in regard to the apparent hostility on the part of some of us who are posting messages onto this list. Allow me to first tell you why I joined this list. Jewel's music and poetry are so heartfelt and enriching, so beautifully empowering to the human heart and soul, that I felt compelled to find fellow human beings who strived for the same sense of passion that drives her words. Not many poets can move me to tears, and I've found that Jewel's art can. That brought me to this list, and hence, I'd hoped, to a group of philosophical travellers. I've become disappointed though, by those in our number who have nothing better to do than quibble over how many toe rings Jewel wore on the last taping of her last Saturday Night Live appearance, who got better seats at Sessions, or how many times they had to reshoot the final scene of RWTD. I don't care, and if you call yourself an EDA, then neither should you. Superphilous information is nice for Jeopardy, and may prove to unwitting people that you are a true fan...However, it is not, nor has it ever been the point of Jewel's music or poetry, and does not coincide with the spirit of being a true Everyday Angel. Her art, her passion, the words that Jewel speaks in her various outlets, is about love...pure, simple love, and sometimes the pain surrounding it. Its also about having the faith and drive to create a world in which the fragile human heart is the primary resource, and living and changing it one person at a time. Let's remember why we're here and focus on what those with faith can do to change the world around us. For those of you who don't understand what I mean, instead of flaming the digest, feel free to contact me directly at mernette@a1usa.net. And before you do, keep in mind that this is the bottom line, because...I said so. If you don't want to wait or would like my review of the show, and my sentiments as to why it was a disappointment, feel free to email me privately. This was just a quick response to Kelli and FaerieSquish's argument to say that Kelli's point that it didn't hold a candle to the atmosphere at Storytellers does hold water, but Squish is also correct in a lot of ways because good seating and personal interaction with the performer on stage are not rights, they just happen from time to time and you get lucky, but you aren't owed them or entitled to them just for showing up. Hi all, As previously posted to the So Cal mailing list, local EDAs will be lending a hand to the Newport Beach Surfrider Chapter this Saturday the 18th at the Newport Beach Coastal Clean-Up. This is a morning event with sign-in to begin at 8:30am. Look for EDAs Gathering near and around the pier :) The actual cleanup will begin once supplies and tally cards are distributed by about 9am. The cleanup lasts until 11am with EDA beach frivolity surely to follow :) We will be basically removing and catalouging items of trash using the implements given to us for that purpose. Once the "score-cards" and refuse is rounded up, we will count and compile a listing of the refuse collected to be of use for both scientific and lobbying purposes. I have also been informed that the cards turned in will also be a part of a raffle for participants involving some VERY WORTHWHILE prizes donated by various companies. If you have any questions about taking part in this day please reply to THIS address. If would like to volunteer to bring things for our post-cleanup BBQ email Jason at arunsun@rocketmail.com . I hope to see you all there as EDAs across the nation will be working towards cleaner beaches and a healthier environment on this momentous day. I was thinkin' if there's enough response from the European people, it might pull through... So, maybe there's some EDA who knows where we can request a "Sessions" in such a way, that the management or Jewel herself gets to read it for sure.... I also heard that Jewel supposedly was gonna go to Europe again in October, to resume her cancelled European tour... Well it's nearly October and I haven't heard a word about it... SO, I'm getting a little anxious and further more impatient. Well, hope to recieve some info on these... Every concert from 1999 is now complete & accurate, including the Steve Poltz sets & Rusted Root sets (where applicable). I also corrected many setlists that were previously sent in by fans, but had mistakes. There were several that had errors that are now 100% accurate. The "Sessions At West 54th Street" setlist from Tuesday night is also included. The link to the 1999 setlist guide can be found below the calendar window on the high end version of the site. The hurricane has passed and it looks like the weather will be beautiful, so it's all systems go! Remember to wear warm clothing as it's supposed to be fall-like conditions and we'll be on the water. You might also want to bring some sunscreen and/or a hat. Please try to be there by 10am. I forgot to mention in previous posts that I will be giving out coupons for a FREE Brita Water Pitcher to attendees. After the cleanup, we'll be going to Denny's, which is the EDA tradition! Then, maybe back to Funmania (the Harley game rocks!!) or whatever we want to do. If anyone needs more info; a copy of the directions; or has plans to attend but has not yet contacted me, please email me at w1ggy2@aol.com (the second digit is a "one", not an "i"). Looking forward to seeing everyone! I read that someone was interested in the "manufacturing" of EDA ribbons. Well... I being the creative person that I am decided there was no time to waste :) I have a rich purple, and a royal blue (either/or thing). On them is written in silver "We are Everyday Angels" and I used a guardian angel pin to fasten one onto my backpack. If anyone wants to purchase one, without the angel pin is $2, and one with a guardian angel is $5. Feel free to e-mail me about it. I was also wondering if anyone had sheet music for Hands, Down So Long, Jupiter, or Absence of Fear? I remember someone posting about having Spirit sheet music, but if anyone has it, I'll pay for photocopying and S&H. One last thing. I just got the Fastball CD "All the Pain Money Can Buy", and for the first time listened to all of "The Way" (before I had only heard bits and pieces and the refrain) Is that Jewel in the beginning or am I just going crazy?! :) It sounds an awful lot like her, but I didn't see her name anywhere in the CD Jacket. That be all for now. Hi all, As part of Jewel's ongoing effort to raise awareness and to benefit Higher Ground For Humanity's Clearwater Project, a very special single will be released on Tuesday, October 12th. The single, a newly recorded version of "Life Uncommon" features accompaniment by a small orchestra & choir conducted by Arif Marden. This remarkable recording took place during recent rehearsals for Jewel's "Sessions At West 54th Street" Christmas Special, which will be broadcast nationwide on PBS in December. All of Jewel's proceeds & a portion of record company proceeds will directly benefit Clearwater Project. Comprised of individuals with a vision to bring about positive change for the millions of people suffering from a lack of clean drinking water, the Clearwater Project seeks to fulfill their vision through: * Education and awareness programs aimed at teaching communities and individuals about their specific water problems and how these problems can be solved. * Bringing together like-minded individuals and building alliances with other organizations intent on creating positive changes for water health. * Providing relief and sustainable solutions to people in the form of simple and affordable technologies that can clean contaminated water and make it safe for drinking. To directly participate or educate yourself more about HGH's Clearwater Project, please visit them at: http://www.clearwaterproject.com/ A message from Jewel & Lenedra: "The people on the earth cannot possibly be healthy if our planet is not healthy - we depend on this planet for our entire sustenance. The alarming decrease in availability of pure, safe water threatens the core of our existence. We cannot survive without the vital resource of water. The problem is now quite advanced in most impoverished areas, and in many of our rivers and oceans. Even in most of our cities we buy bottled water. The human being has a vital role in the stewardship of our earth and we must awaken more fully to our responsibility. Working together we can all address this problem effectively. We are involved because something can be done." Jewel Kilcher & Lenedra Carroll ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 18:02:17 EDT From: SHApres@aol.com Subject: * Jewel at circuit city Hi all, I know that it was posted before that Circuit City has the Australian (I think) version of Spirit with the enhanced CD.
