First off I'd like to thank the EDAs that have already responded to the earlier postings about the EDA Jewel Airplay List. In case you're new to the list, or missed the earlier posts, here's what it is: The EDA Jewel Airplay webpage is designed to be a central point from which ALL EDAs can help Jewel gain a greater presence on the radio. It was started when I got fed up with my local radio station not playing Jewel. So I decided, "Hey, there's about 1900 EDAs out there, all with e-mail access, so why don't we start an e-mail campaign to get her played on the radio more often. But we need a semi-organized way to do this." So I whipped up a quick page on Xoom, and asked fellow EDAs to stop by and send me their local radio station's e-mail and website addresses. How it works (in theory) is each EDA stops by once a week and sends an e-mail to each of the addresses listed asking that a Jewel song be played. I've conveniently hot-linked each of the addresses so all you have to do is click on each of the names and your e-mail program will pop up with the proper address filled out. All you'll have to do then is fill out the subject line and put something like "Please play Jupiter by Jewel" in the body of the e-mail. Then click send. Bam, 15 seconds tops. Sound easy? It is. All we have to do is stick to it. Well, over the last couple of weeks I've gotten quite a response. Thanks to everybody who's sent in a radio station so far. But now we need to start e-mailing these stations like crazy. It'll only take a few minutes and you don't have to do it every day. Once a week is enough, but we all have to make sure we follow through with this if it's going to work. And keep it up, cause persistence is key here. Just like Jewel and her career. :-) So if you don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about, please stop by the website to find out more. And please send e-mails to these stations. If you're worried that it won't affect your local station, remember that a lot of stations choose their programming by "what's hot" lists, and these lists are often determined by what's being played in larger markets. And how do they determine what needs to be played? Well persistant requests do have somthing to do with it along with other things. So if we can cause a large enough of a swing in a few markets by hounding their request lines, maybe it'll have a "trickle-down" effect to the other stations. I dunno, but hey, it can't hurt right? If you've already sent me an address, remember to stop by once a week and e-mail these stations or they'll never listen! ########### Here's the website ############## http://members.xoom.com/dwstudios/jewel/index.htm Thanks, and keep those e-mails comin'! I think it would be extremely nice when Jewel comes to a european country to make the same kind of programme as in the USA for PBS stations. I think it would be great if we european fans get something special like the american fans. A programme like Storytellers would be extremely nice if we can attend this show as european EDA's as well. I was invited to attend the Sessions at West 54th taping next Tuesday. Upon learning that we are allowed to bring one guest with us, I asked my sister who was more than happy to oblige. Unfortunately she just learned that she has to go to Washington, D.C. for a conference and will be unable to go. So now I am looking for one person to attend the taping with me. Now I'm from the Philadelphia area so there are a multitude of ways to get to New York City from here. I've been looking at the train fares though and they are pretty steep-like $70 to $80. I haven't checked out bus fares yet but I imagine they are pretty high as well. So I was wondering if someone who had been planning to drive to New York if they had been selected would like to go. I figure that this is the cheapest and easiest way to go and I of course would be willing to split the costs of gas, tolls, and parking. Or if there are a number of people from Philly going, how about a car pool? If you are interested, please respond within the next 2 days to me PRIVATELY, not through the list. My email is Mgsju@aol.com. Please put Angel Needs A Ride in the subject line and tell me a little about yourself. I will post to the list when I have selected the person and I will contact everyone who gets back to me one way or the other. Thanks a lot. Hope to hear from you soon. Not true; many people are military or in highschool, both of which you get IDs. I don't really think that's fair for the younger EDAs but there's not much I can do. Hi angels, I was one of the lucky angels to get picked. Now, I have a couple of friends (two actually, and only one likes Jewel), so after a day of thought and what I might get myself into, I've also decided to invite an EDA to the session, Rather than let someone go that wouldn't appreciate it like an EDA. So, here's the criteria: Must submit the following: 1. Age: Must be 18 and over (sorry to put this age limit, but I'm 25, don't want anybody having any strange thoughts) 2. How you will get to the session and home: Must be responsible for getting to the session and home. (I live in CT, and will be taking the train to and from.) 3. Favorite Jewel song and why (do not right a book, a few lines is fine) 4. Last Jewel concert you attended. (if any) 5. College major or planned major And finally last question: 6. A women was asked how old her children were: She answered, "Mary is 24 years old and John doesn't like to tell his age, but Mary is twice as old as John was when Mary was as old as John is now. " What is John's age? Good luck. I'll be accepting emails from now until 12:00 am. I will contact ONLY the angel that has been chosen to make further arrangements tomorrow around 5:30 pm.
