The songs have stood the test of time, Merle is a legend and Jewel's ability to duet with anybody has been proven over and over. This is one of her under appreciated talents. Hi Angels, I can't believe it, I was finally picked for a Jewel event. I can't wait. This will at least get me through the next two weeks at work. I just found out I was invited, 'cause I just got back from a holiday trip. Did any of you other angels respond and say you can go or do you think they just want you to respond if you can't? Hope to meet some of you guys, it will probably be impossible not to, isn't the entire audience going to be EDA's. I discussed a few important issues with the production staff & here's answers to the questions surfacing. YES, the 4 or 5 EDAs who were under 16 will be allowed in. So, not to worry on that. Also, they were going to exclude guest requests, but have agreed to allow each invitee ONE guest. This can be a parent, guardian, or friend. Whatever works best for you. The only people who need to call back the number given in the invite email are those unable to go. This will allow someone else to take the place of those unable to attend. Otherwise, simply follow the instructions they sent you. Also, please be sure to BRING YOUR ID!!!! Anyone who cannot match their ID to the guest list (or is not the one guest of an invitee) will not be allowed in. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS!! OK. That should do it. I look forward to seeing many of you there! Alan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Sep 1999 13:48:12 PDT From: "Hoochie Koochie" Subject: * My Very Own Mini-Contest Well, alrighty then. I've been invited to attend Sessions--yippie for me--and I've spent some time considering who to invite with me, seeing as I'm allowed one guest. Sure, I have friends who like Jewel but not to the degree of being an EDA. So I'd like to invite someone from the list who wasn't chosen to attend Sessions to be my 'guest'. First off, you have to be able to get to NYC on your own that day. Please be reliable on this. I don't want to chose someone and have that person think 'I don't know how but I'll make it to the city somehow!'. I realize that enthusiasm is a great motivator but it'd be such a pity if you ended up unable to secure transportation and then that extra spot is wasted. So, please, don't reply to this unless you -KNOW- that you can make it to NYC that day. Also do not reply to this if you are under 16. I know there seems to be debate on this topic but it said in the email I got that no one under 16 would be admitted. So, again, I don't want anyone missing out on the spot. So, you are 16 or older and can make it to NYC? Great! Perhaps you--yes, /YOU/--will be with me to see the taping of Jewel's Sessions. I'm sure that a bunch of people will wanna go so I need some sort of criteria to make my decision. Email me at this address: nihao@ct2.nai.net ..with the subject line 'Let My Fingers Swim Like Pale Fish Through Your Hair' In the body, answer these questions: 1. How old are you? 2. How will you get to NYC? 3. If you could ask Jewel one question, what would it be and why? 4. How long have you been a fan of hers? 5. What's your favorite Jewel song? 6. What is your stance on the old-Jewel vs. the new-Jewel in regards to her appearance (clothing, makeup, etc.)? 7. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? 8. Who is your favorite recording artist aside from Jewel? 9. What is the ln of x? 10. Do you scream your appreciation at concerts? Bonus Trivia Question: What song is the line in the subject from and what was the story it was based on? I'll accept emails until Wednesday night and I'll make my decision on Thursday morning. I mean, oh well, it isn't the end of the world, but it would have been nice (and I thought I replied fast!!). :-) To those of you who did, HAVE FUN - ENJOY !! I've been a Jewel fan since I was 13 (I'm now 17) and she's always been at the very top of my list. When she finally put out a new album last fall I was so happy, and I loved it. However, towards end of the spring I was kinda "falling out of love" with Jewel. Then I went to the concert at Jones Beach in July and remembered every single reason why I loved her and her music so much. It totally restored my faith. Now I keep wanting more Jewel!! I'm expecting my Jewelstock tapes fairly soon, but if anyone has anything else they'd recommend (or even have) let me know!! :-) Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, like most folks outside of NY/NJ/PA, I didn't get on the audience list this time. Nor did Woody, despite the sneaky little plywood bast*rd listing his home address as a lumberyard outside Hoboken... ;-) Fortunately, I did manage to wrangle a "guest invite" from a luckier New Jersey EDA who shall remain nameless (and blameless) for getting me in the door! So, I imagine we'll meet for a 5:30 dinner near the studios, then for a drink or two after the taping ends later that night. Afterall, New York is the town that never sleeps... Any EDAs who want to be added to the dinner plans list, send me an email. And anyone with an open guest spot who wants to sit next to a grateful plywood cow can contact Woody at plywoodcow@aol.com.
