My name's Jason and I've been a Jewel fan since 95'. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Jewel. You could consider her my muse. Her music has encouraged, inspired, and healed my soul. I've only recently become an EDA, but I think I've found a new home. Now on to how we can help Jewel out. I don't know about how you guys feel, but I don't think Jewel gets enough airplay. Whether its on MTV, VH1 or the local radio station. I know here in Birmingham, Alabama WRAX 107.7 "the X" barely plays her music. They do every once in a while (like once a month) so I know they know she exists. So I figure there's a bunch of EDAs now (around 1500 right?), what if we all joined together and used the power if the internet to do some good. Here's the idea: I've set up a webpage( http://members.xoom.com/dwstudios/jewel/index.htm ) that has links to the song/video request e-mail addresses of radio stations, MTV and VH1. What I need you guys to do is visit once a week and use the links to e-mail these guys and let them know we want to see and hear more Jewel being broadcast! If you have a local radio station that is wired to the net, e-mail me and I'll add them to the list so other EDAs can e-mail them. What'da think? I'm hoping we can all get her up to at least #3 on MTV's TRL and some decent rotation on the local stations. (I just made it) I just got back from the 8-26 Atlanta concert. This was an extremely good show. I don't even have the set list down yet. A couple of the songs I've never even heard before, too. Maybe someone will post about the concert. But, if you're interested in trading for this tape, then mail me. I recorded the show with a Fostex X-26 4 track, with a fast tape speed. I had a difficult time of it, too, but the end result is pretty good. My trading page address is: http://members.aol.com/tequesta2/trading.htm (This show is not listed yet) Allan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Aug 1999 22:47:28 -0700 (PDT) From: brian connelly Subject: * Jewel in Raleigh hey there... this is my first post so be gentle... anyways, i arrived back home to north carolina about on the 15th or so, and i found out Jewel was playing on the 21st other there in raleigh, about a two and a half hour drive from wilmington, where i live. I called up everybody i knew in raleigh to get tickets for me, but they were SOLD OUT... pretty damn fast if you ask me. Anyways, so the plan was to drive over there early and see if we could beg some fool out of their tickets... no such luck. We only had 50 bucks between the two of us anyway, so even if we found somebody it's doubtful we could have met their price... So anyways, is there a point to this? I think so, and it would be: i would like to know if anyone has any sort of recording of that show: August 21st, Raleigh in the Walnut Creek ampitheater. If anyone has anything, i would gladly send any materials necessary to dub the material: a blank tape, blank cassette, shipping charges, the whole nine yards. i appreciate your time, feel free to email me! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 07:40:33 GMT From: "Louise Tamblyn" Subject: * Australians get nothing Hello peoples We would just like to express how pissed we are. There are fans and then ther are EDA's. It takes a certain type of person to be an EDA and we are that! We are fans of Jewel, we care about Jewel and other EDA's, we support Jewel and HGH and EDAF. But most importantly, we carry the name with pride, Every Day Angels! I love wearing my EDA shirt (Thanks Rich) around and have people ask me what that is or say, "hey, didn't i hear Jewel say something about that?" We are more than fans, or a dedicated support crew ready willing and able! Look at the people on the list and you will see what i mean! So, I wrote to NetAid and here is the reply I received! It has some new information in it, including that MTV/VH-1 will cover the event in the United States. I guess this is positive, but what will we see? A couple hour chopped coverage with NO Jewel? Lets hope not! NetAid will appear on MTV and VH-1 in the U.S. Unfortunately, I don't have specific information about the concert and am not sure how long each artist will perform. However, I can tell you that the concert at Giant Stadium will go for five hours. Glad you are interested! The 34th London fest runs for 16 days starting Nov. 3. The full 150-film lineup will be announced Sept. 15. The $35 million picture, which stars Tobey Maguire, Skeet Ulrich and pop singer Jewel, will have its world premiere at the Sept. 3-12 Festival of American Cinema in Deauville, France. It is scheduled to begin its North American run in New York and Los Angeles on Nov. 24 via USA Films. Festival director Adrian Wootton described the film as a "masterpiece" that "surpassed my expectations." Tipped as good bets to be included in the London lineup are "Topsy Turvy," from British veteran Mike Leigh; "Room for Romeo Brass," from Shane Meadows; and Canadian director Patricia Rozema's "Mansfield Park." jaime (the angel in the shadows) AIM: KidDestiny ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 12:17:21 EDT From: "Elizabeth Baker" Subject: * Re: Jewel's Thanksgiving letters :my 2 cents Hi- I wasn't on the list when that happened, but that was a great idea, wouldn't it be nice if we could do something like that again. ~Lizzie Lizbo The Quirky Angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 11:47:15 EDT From: "Matt Neely" Subject: * EDA JEWEL CHAT SATURDAY We set a time where you can come to http://www.aol.com/community/jump.adp/url=Jewel+Chat and talk about Jewel with other eda's.........Saturday's at 9pm est.....also any other evening you can go to the room and chat.....ok hope to see you all there. matt guitar pluckin angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 12:24:03 -0400 From: "Kristin Segura" Subject: * Jewel Angelfood Does anyone know where I can get the song Rocker Girl? And no excuses saying you didn't see me! :) I only met one EDA, Katie (not the Katie I had emailed, either). She's a total doll and I was thrilled to meet her, but I also wish I could've met s'more people!! And you can't say you didn't see me, because I had blue ribbons *everywhere*!! I had some in my hair, tied to my belt loops, on my sandals, and around my neck! And although I had seats, I spent a considerable amount of time before and in between sets wandering around looking for anyone who resembled an EDA (even asked a few, who looked at me like I was wacko), to no avail. So anyone who saw me and didn't come up to say hi, bummer! We coulda had fun! And btw, when Steve was talking (and singing his 3-part rock opera) about Raleigh girl, that was me!! Or at least, I became concvinced it was me after a few beers. :) As I was walking out at the end of the show, this girl who had to be 8 or so looked at me and said, "Hi there Mrs. Yelling-at-Steve-Poltz!". So that's my new name. Woo-hoo! Anyway, anyone who saw me but was just too darn shy to say hi, please write and say hello. I'm hoping to kick off some gatherings in the area this fall.
