There was a DSL single released somewhere in Europe that contained "Amen" & "Fat Boy" from Shepherds Bush Empire in London on November 14th, 1997. I can't remember which country released it, unfortunately. I do remember someone here posting about finding it. (you still out there?) Originally, those two songs were being considered for all DSL releases, but most international divisions of the record company opted for "I'm Sensitive" instead of "Amen". Due to its scarcity (not to mention lack of info, hehe...), the version in question is destined to be difficult to find & highly collectible... On the bright side, Fat Boy & Amen were both consecutive songs from the encore of the that London 97 show, which was broadcast (in part, but those 2 songs were included) by British Forces Radio in perfect quality. That recording should be easy enough to track down since it was a radio broadcast. It is a remarkably good version of "Amen". Hey everyone! So here's the thing ... I'm a 19 year old college dude who needs some time off to think about what I want to become in my life, so I've decided that I'm going to take a year off to travel across the States to find myself or something like that. :) But, knowing how expensive it's gonna be, I'd love to have places to stay across the country. If you think you'd be able to help me out, like by giving me somewhere to sleep, somewhere I can do laundry, showing me around where you live, and stuff like that, gimme an e-mail and I'll give you more details. I've got a pic of myself, if you want to see it, too. And I'm not TOO dangerous ... ;) Hehe ... kidding. Write back soon! I'm leaving on the 4th of September. Bye. For those who read the earlier review of the concert I felt it necessary to 'correct' part of it... The author, Kevin Johnson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, while discussing the second half of the set where Jewel jammed on her electric guitar wrote, "At the same time, she probably disappointed others who like their Jewel sparkling more subtly. The seats were less full by this point, as some fans decided not to stick around." Sure the seats were less full, thats because she told everyone to leave their seats and come down to the front of the stage and jam with her and the band...and that's what alot of us did! Also, Kevin failed to even mention Steve's mini-set between Rusted Root and Jewel. Between his funny, nonsensical songs and his impressive sense of St. Louis' baseball history he had the audience eating out of his hands! All those around me found him absolutely hysterical. We are lucky that she gives us what so many other singers do not: hope, inspiration, and of course "angelfood." I think that she thinks of her fans quite enough. I am not a fan though I am a fellow musician and an admirer of her work and her message, but not a groupie. Most of all, I admire her for staying who she is (for the most part) through all the glitz and glamour. I'm sure it's very taxing on her spiritually and physically. If Jewel ever reads this I would like to say that I would rather be her friend, someone whom she could talk to and get ideas from, than a screaming crazy fan who can't even say their own name. I'm proud of her and I hope when I am her age I am not only successful but as modest and funloving as her.
