I know > her life is demanding and what not, but if she doesn't like her ob > anymore, she shouldn't perform. She was clearly put out with it. Oh, come off it! I know Jewel can be a total b!tch sometimes, but this does not exemplify that! Most performers who play at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA ALWAYS say "Hello San Fransisco" or "Nice to be back in San Fransisco" or whatever when not only is that not the right city, but there are large cities nearby where most people are from. The performer is playing THAT venue as their concert for the city they mention. They don't care which city they are TECHNICALLY playing in. 'tis of little consiquence. Of course, we'd all like for them to come out and say the real city, but that's not where they're playing for. They're playing for the FANS. Not the city. Give 'em a break. I'm confussed about Jewel in highschool and a few other things.... different bios say different things same as different people. Did she got a scholarship and how many years was it? Also where'd the Native American family come in at the age of 14? At 14 you start highschool, so did they teach her or something? Also, it says she moved to Hawaii at age 12, but she says she was there in 8th grade. In 8th grade you're 13-14.. and then ti says she moved back to her family in Anchorage....... but um.. it also says she got adopted to the tribe at age 14. Could someone help me out? It has nothing to with her name, I think. Jewel is a woman who can sing amazingly well, and she's also very pretty and has a personality. These "powers" combined, have made her famous. Here are some other names for ya: Paula Cole, Eric Clapton, Steve Poltz etc, etc, if it was she needed a special name to be a celeb, she'd pick a stage name Later, Maffeaap aka Jeroen Thijssen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1999 01:45:26 -0400 From: Robby VanSciver Subject: * Food Drive This is taken from a mailing list I'm on for the GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheatre: THIS FRIDAY (AUGUST 20) TOMMY HILFIGER PRESENTS: JEWEL with special guests RUSTED ROOT and STEVE POLTZ $29.50 GOLD CIRCLE $29.50 REGULAR RESERVED $18.50 FESTIVAL LAWN RUSTED ROOT WILL BE CONDUCTING A FOOD DRIVE DURING THEIR 1999 SUMMER TOUR. Just wanted to point out that you American EDAs must be quite happy with the attention Jewel gets in the media. Honestly, it's been like 2 or 3 months since the last time i've seen 'Down so long' here in the Netherlands, and really, that just s.u.c.k.s. We don't have some station called VH1 which airs jewel specials. No. She gets absolutely no attention here, and maybe that's one of the reasons why Jewel isn't that popular here. If you're talking to someone about music, and you tell that person you like Jewel, they go like: "Who? Oh. The girl from that nice piano tune right? What was it called? Oh .. indeed.. foolish games." And when you got them to listen to some tunes they say: "she must be a nice artist, but i don't like it that much." Last time i've heard a Jewel song on the radio was when I called radio3fm, which is one of the biggest national stations here, and requested 'you were meant for me'. You American EDAs must be so lucky :). Or are dutch people just plain stupid? Oh, maybe I should put a ":)" behind the previous phrase. Anyway, apart from the cons, it has some pros too ofcourse :). This way, it feels kinda exclusive :). Oh well, I will continue moaning and complaining on myself now :). ciao Franklin "i wouldn't dare saying that i'm an angel" - -- ~ "Jag har ingen lust att höra på dumma blå elefanter!" ~ franklin van velthuizen (aka g-day/quad) ~ musician/webmaster of the demogroup quad (http://www.quad.nl) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1999 08:47:16 EDT From: Beck82@aol.com Subject: * pnc arts center hey i just got beck from a summer away in israel so i missed the whole tour this summer. does anyone have a copy of the show from pnc arts center in nj from this past month? please e-mail me back if you do. later rebecca ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1999 06:49:49 PDT From: "Maffe Aap" Subject: * Woodstock on RTL 5 Hey all! If you send me the email address you used to sign up for tapes I can look up who your volunteer is and we can get you two in communication. The volunteers vary with how long it takes them to make tapes. They're all doing this on the side for free and so sometimes life things (exams, work, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc) get in the way of your tapes being sent back quickly. They also probably have other tapes waiting to be recorded that arrived first which adds to the delay. It's not a perfect system but it's the best we could come up with! :-) James > >Does anyone know how long it should take to get tapes? But in real life Philly was across the river it is no big deal they have the right to be confused at where they are. god they play everyday just about and it is a new city each night so they have the right to be confused. Hell even local people outside the concert selling Jamaican things they were saying "Get official Jamaican stuff here in the HEART OF PENNSYLVANIA!" everyone gets confused.
