I bought it when she wasn't even known. In fact, I bought the CD for about five dollars. I fell in love with her voice and her lyrics instantly. She was so very down to Earth and very warm... I saw her in concert in Toledo when a friend of mine bought me tix for my birthday. I was so excited and I was so happy to see Jewel. I even cried a couple of times. But my opionion of Jewel has changed considerably. I'd really hoped that Jewel wouldn't turn out all Glam. Part of me believes that she deserves what she has -- don't get me wrong, but she is such a bitch. I saw her in concert last week in Detroit... really it was Auburn Hills, she should have gotten that straight before she came out onto stage and said, "Hello Detroit!" I know her life is demanding and what not, but if she doesn't like her job anymore, she shouldn't perform. She was clearly put out with it. I even caught a glimpse of her resting her head on! ! Steve's shoulder several times. I understand she may have been tired, I'm sure a lot of you will come to her rescue -- that is fine:) Even though she put on a wonderful show, she just didn't give me the intimacy I has grown accustomed to, anyone else feel the same? [This is regarding Nebula's post to the list.] At Jewel's concerts, before she sings her new country(-ish) song, she jokes about her record label being worried because all she's been writing lately are country songs. Hey guys, My collection of angelfood, though quite big (15 tapes) needs some SERIOUs updating, we don't get too many tapes over here, and my the other Israeli EDAs have mysteriously vanished (all four of them :P ), so I think it's about time I started importing some new stuff in here. I'm interested in basically anything- mostly concert tapes (NO SPIRIT TOUR!) coffee shop stuff... Oldies are also welcomed :) If anyone wants to trade, email me privatley for a list. === ~*~*~"If music be the food of love-play on!" I am still shakey and funny feeling @ 2:30 in the morning. The show was amazing. i didnt much care for rusted root. steve poltz was funny as hell i didnt like his drug referances and etc. i never heard steve before this and i must say it was not what i expected. it was much better. Jewel was simply amazing.. i couldnt tell ya what songs she played cause i cant even remember heh. sorry for my lack of discription on all of this. im sure someone will have a better review than me. it was absolutly amazeing. her guitar had the greatest fat sound during Love me just leave me alone, just a big beefy tone with a mild distortron. kinda of sound that if you play guitar you'd drop your jaw hearing it. heh i did =P it was cool meeting the local edas, was nice meeting mandy especially she didi a good job of cororadaniting everything. we where suposed to be meeting Matt w/ the roses and letters from other EDAs but we never saw him.so heh matt where'd ya go? it was amazing, im speechless and in awe. i'll make a make shift site and post some pictures that i took. they're from kinda far back but we'll se ehow they turn out. my sister gave me the *wrong* tickets so we where pretty far back. he had to sneek past security (who where not very bright, aparently friggn chalk is illegeal these days (talk to mandy about that)) to get in closer. i had to deal with drunk fratt kids the whole night in front and back of me which kinda ruined the whole feeling of the concert but i tried to make the best of it. show ruled, to those who are going to later shows, you'll love it. - -AL/Adam ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 09:10:56 EDT From: UziGash@aol.com Subject: * Re: new album? You would have to meet me at the venue since they are being held at the "Will-Call" section. If you can and want to go, you can email me at felthen@hotmail.com and we will make arrangements. I was at the Aug 13 show and I also thougt it was great. It was the best concert I've ever been to. The thing is I didn't have such high expectations for the show. I'm more of rock guy. My previous favorite was the Stone Temple Pilots at the Rosemont Horizon. I had no idea Jewel could sing the way she did. Not many people can scream at the top of their lungs and still be carrying a tune. I have a tape of an older show, I also saw her on MTV unplugged and a couple other TV appearances but I've never heard her "wail" the way she did Friday night. She was unbelievable. There was almost a gospel/motown feel to some of the songs. Does anyone know where I can download live Jewel music? Did anyone tape the Chicago show? I would love to get a copy.
