I am from Missouri and it was a good little town. Anyway, I am a fireman in a little town called Lawson, in where a movie scene was filmed where she is at a house(a rather big one). The point is that the house is a State Historic Site, Universal Pictures constructed false walls in this house and set this house on fire for the movie. Our fire dept. had to be there to supervise the burning. It was filmed on the night of July 1,1998, and it was a pretty sight to see Jewel and the rest of the cast in the Civil War type clothing. I aplaud Universal Pictures for the scene. The filming began approx. 9:30 p.m. and ended around 6:00 a.m. on the 2nd. In case any of you were wandering, the house and grounds is called Watkins Woolen Mill And Historic Site located in Lawson, MO. Just in case anyone wants to visit this site for a little piece of history, the state does do tours daily. If anyone wants directions to this site e-mail me and i will provide them. That is really much fun, and for fans who can't see her now in Europe this is a cool place to surf and try to memorize the great time they had at the concerts in may 99. www.jeweljk.com and than go to Spirit world tour on the road link! I live three hours away from where the concert is, and it is on a school night. Needless to say, my parents do not want me to go. I was wondering how long I could expect to stay at the concert (including RR, Steve, and Jewel). Does anyone know what time it gets over? The Atlanta concert I'm talking about starts at 7:00. Please reply. I'm trying to persuade my parents here!!! :) I would really enjoy seeing her live. I went to the Camden show last night it was awsome it was so much better than the PNC show I went to she yodeled sang CARNIVORE and she sang a new song I wish I knew the name but it was awsome I loved it! My seats were dead even with jewel and I was so close to her I was in heaven. Well to get to the opint of JEwel laughing at me she was singing foolish games and my friend and I decided to take off our watches and hold the indiglo light on them and wav them back and forth as if they were lighters and she looked at us and laughed!!!!!! I was so excited she knows I exist. SHe had such a great show. Half way threw the show I started standing on my chair now that was one hell of a view I saw even better it was so great. I was a bit scared going to the concert I saw hookers and then at the end of the show walking to my car a man came up to me asking for change they were the only scary parts but the concert made up for it. Michelle "shy angel" P.S. I almost forgot, did anyone make a tape of the Aug 4th Camden show? I hope they did b/c it is a great show and it would be a crying shame if it was not taped. Also does anyone know what the new song was that she sang the I know the chours had lyrics like heart fallen i cont rember the rest at the moment but i hope someone will know the name of that song. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Aug 1999 12:50:27 -0400 (EDT) From: Seth Fulmer Subject: * Camden, NJ concert Ok..That show ROCKED! I have like gone through this with other EDAs about what I thought so it's like repeating myself a little hehe but I'll do my best...I didn't get a setlist because I was too into the music...but I will state what songs I know she sang(although the order is questionable and if I miss one..don't sue me) and I won't use acronyms either for you new people who don't know them yet...Before I begin though: Did anyone get a recording??? If so, What length cassette tape and to which address should I send a tape to for a copy of it? I really hope someone did! The morons at the gate may not have found my camera which seemed blatantly obviously visible on me, but they would have automatically found a recorder because my pockets were all stuffed full so as it was with a set of batteries, film...and pens and paper in case I decided to copy the setlist. Now..onto the concert hehe :) She started out with "Near you always", then continued with(in no particular order): Hands, Jupiter, Barcelona, Deep Water(DW), What's simple is true(WSIT), Down, You Were Meant For me(YWMFM), Carnivore, Love me just leave me alone(LMJLMA), Life Uncommon(LU), Chime Bells(CB), Who Will Save your Soul(WWSYS), Morning Song(MS), Foolish Games(FG), Down so long(DSL), Absence of Fear(AOF), and I think that was it. She played one in the beginning that I wasn't sure but it had the lyrics "Down...down...down"...which I thought was "down" but then she played a rocked out song later on that had "down" in it too...which I was told this was "down". (Now comes the acronyms..I'm lazy) Let's just say her rendition of LU gave me new respect for Spirit...It Rocked majorly! I sorta wanted her to play "Sometimes it be that way"(SIBTW)...but she played Carnivore and LMJLMA so I forgive her :o) When she sang Carnivore she's like "Here's a song you probably haven't heard" and I knew like all the words and was singing it..and this woman 2 seats down was like "How did you hear that? What CD is that on?" and I'm like "It's not...I'm a Jewel nut I mean fan...and I have it on a tape of a previous concert/gig". She rocked the house though with her rendition of WWSYS...with like an hour long skat(it's where she goes zoobedoobedo near the end) part and she looked so cute with her guitarist..it was like she had a little conversation with him. I have to say I like Steve's lyrical replacement for YWMFM which she had him say before singing it...They were something like "I stab the yolk with the knife and the fork...I can't believe that you're taking me to court" lol :) Near the end though, this moron(that's being kind) in my row yelled "Yodel Jewel! I wanna hear it!" and she was reading a poem...a short poem. She then sang Chime Bells and I think maybe another one of the songs and left. But we can't forget about Steve now, can we? He played a song about chairs(I forget the title), Impala, Silver Lining, the ABCs of Love, Waterfalls(cover by TLC I think but I'm not sure if it's TLC), and "Little Red Corvette"(a cover also but I don't remember who). Also he sang the song from "Notting hill" called "I like everything about you". He sang another song I wasn't familiar with as his opener which I didn't catch the title of. The "Little Red Corvette" he said that he didn't know it too well...even though I have a tape where he's singing it from a while ago and knows it :) He sang that with the one girl from Rusted Root...It's cool though :) It was just such a great set :) I personally am not nuts about Rusted Root so I will let the commenting of that to someone else. I stood outside and talked with some other EDAs during the Rusted Root part of it. I wish people were more respectful. I mean...Jewel is even better when people respect her...then she sings longer :) And it's the nice thing to do..but like most of the people were like cheering when they said "San Diego's own"...but when they said "Steve Poltz"...they were like "Who?" Sheesh people..but I'll be nice and stop this post now before I get rude myself. Take care peoples and Have a Great Day!....P.S..If you made a recording, please email me :o) Seth D.
