Please help Hey guys- So here's my dilemma. I got a job this summer, and I told the manager that I couldn't work on Wednesday night. Cause I'm going to see Jewel! He schedules me to work until 9, the concert starts at 7. The venue is like half an hour from my house. When do you think Jewel will come on? I was thinking around 9 or 9:30. Please email me if you've already seen her and have an idea. Thanks! - -Jen ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Aug 1999 09:33:11 PDT From: "Drew Krewer" Subject: * Too Close Hey EDAs, I am new at this, and I do agree that the EDAs should not be looking so very closely at Jewel. We have to remember that she is only human and that she is equal with us. We may draw inspiration from her, but does that make her more "elevated" than we are? I am on the EDA list to show my support of Jewel, not to be obsessed with her. The EDAs give Jewel support, and Jewel gives us inspiration and beautiful music. What else is there to say? I'm new to this list (I just joined yesterday!) and I thought I would write and say hello. I'm so excited to have found this list, because I LOVE jewel, and every other list I'm on is not very Angel friendly. So someone please explain everything to me...like whats the best Angelfood and how I can go about getting some, and any other important info! Thanks!! On another note I got to go to the merriweather show thanks to James. The show was alot of fun. As impressed as I am with how awesome jewel's voice is singing wwsys and dsl and jupiter and all those songs i still tend to relate more when it is just her and her guitar. when i listen to poy it is so easy to feel what she is singing. when i heard her sing carnivore on fri. i again was brought to a whole other level. and i do appreciate that jewel's work is sincere and from her heart and soul but that doesn't stop me from wishing that more of the set be jewel and her guitar because it resonates more within myself. i think maybe we on the list are missing the middle ground. you can respect and support and listen to an artist without loving and enjoying everything that they do equally. i just remembered that i had a dream this morning that i gave jewel a watch for her birthday.bizarre. anyways, these are just my thoughts, take care, Marcia ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Aug 1999 13:30:14 -0700 From: Paul Schreiber Subject: * Woodstock Bio From: http://www.woodstock.com/html/biow0031.shtml [snip] >Mining that core had certainly produced some astonishing work, and in a >very short time. Then call JMerch! Hi everyone :-) I just got off the phone with Mike at JMerch. (for new folks, that is the official Jewel Store) I called him to relate to him the number of Instant Messages and emails I've recently received either personally or through the list which were about defective merchandise either purchased online from JMerch or at a Jewel concert. Most were about the Spirit Tour book, which is a problem they know about. (It seems there have been many defective ones, including the one I received a few days ago...some "environmentally safe glues" just ain't doing the trick) Basically, he said that if you purchased something defective either through them online, mail order, or official Jewel merchandise at a Jewel concert, to please call them at their toll free number 877-295-3935 and they will make ammends (or you can email them at customerservice@jeweljk.com). Subject: * Toronto show Hello all, here's my story on the Toronto show.... First my aunt and i get to the Air canada center at about 2:00pm we wanted to find a way to get into the building so we could see sound check. After sitting outside for an hour and checking all the doors to the building to make sure they are locked we figured we would be able to get in... but.. there were some men on a manlift who had a hose running thouugh one of the doors because they were working out side.. i didn't notice this but my aunt did. i was looking in the building and saying to my aunt " i them playing with the lights in there!" next think i know she grabbed me and was pushing me in the door of the center... she told me to be quiet and walk fast because there was a big security gaurd at a desk but he was on the phone and he had 3 people standing in front of him. We made it in and went to the seating area of the Air canada center. We were the only 2 people in there with out tags around our necks so we were very quiet and tryed not to be noticed.. as soon as we sat down they played a recording of jewel so loud the seats were shaking.. it was still dark in there though until someone shone a spotlight right on us.. we were thinking we were going to get kicked out .. but evertone just acted like we belonged there. some guys was testing the mics and went up to each one and said something like "jewel mic check yeah yeah yes uh huh" then he started to make kissy noises into the mic it was funny to hear. the some guy says "is jewel comming?" and another guy says "no" .. ym aunt was mad but i was ok with it because he had also said that the rest of the band would be comming. A while later past the curtins backstage i can see steve comming.. i knew it was him because of the cowboy hat.... he then camwe on stage and did sound check during which time he made a comment on how long it's been since toronto has won the cup. :) the band played some of DSL... steve said "take if from the bridge" ... he also did a song where he sung in a real low voise .. my aunt knew the name of it but i didn't. i was going to get steves autograph and a pic with him but i was too shy to approch him.. but i'm sure he saw us the only two people sitting in the audiance. After sound check my aunt and i went outside to see if we could catch jewel going into the building.. a gaurd said that she would be going in the underground parking lot.. so we waited.. when we were sick of waiting we walked towards the door in the underground parking lot and i still say i didn't hit the button!!! but the door opened and i went in with two other eda's, Long and Don, who approched me earlier beacuse they seen my EDA shirt. the guy that was down there said that jewel had not arrived yet (lies!!!) but we had to leave quick. i now realize that that parking lot led right to the part of the stadium where jewel was... anyways the guy kicked us out a different way because the door we came in wouldn't open again... as we left we took a pic of the big blue equiptment bus :) once back where we started from we meet a guy with backstage passes later on he decide to take all our things in and get them signed... he comes back out with all our stuff signed !!! except Long's photo which she confinscated( sp?) buy that time it was almost show time so we went into the building ... no security check with kinda made me mad cuz i had on a big back pack and they didn't even search it!! ahh well then we went in watched rusted root... i thin it was just before steve set when Patrick approches me (we were supposed to meet there) we say hello and go watch steves set. after steves set i meet with patrick again and say "common we're going back stage!" he looked suprised!! lol but we did sneek back there.. after a while the security gaurd comes up and tells us to leave .. i lie and tell him i forgot my back stage pass in the car! lol .. he dosen't buy it! so we leave out that door and sneek back in another door :) it was just before jewel was going to came backstage where we were when the security gaurd spots us again and we make a mad dash.. thats when we decide to go back to our seats cuz jewel was going on right then. jewel was amazing she did carnivore and sometimes it be that way real slow.. at the end she read poetry :) we all know who to thank for that :) and she also did a slow version of chime bells. it was a great day even though i did not get to meet jewel ... as i was leaving i pulled up to a white limo at a red light... i think to myself could this be jewel? i want sure if she would be leaving in a limo.... i yell good bye anyways cuz i'm sorta crazy like that. the window came down and a blonde chick sticks her hand out and waves... but she wouldn't roll the window down far enough for me to see her face .. so i can't say for certain who it was ..... anyways i had a blast and i'm sorry this is soooo long!!!! i can't wait to see jewel in concert again ... in 5 days lol..... see all you people at the pine knob show !!!!! byebye Shawna :0) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #460 ***************************
