(It was a great experience I might add!) Rusted Root plays first for a about an hour, then Steve plays for about 30-45 minutes, then Jewel. If you want to meet in between sets, there should be about 20 minutes between each one. This may not be accurate, but it's an estimate. And I want to comment on the Jupiter video. First of all, I really don't like the new version of the song. It's too "pop". And the video wouldn't be bad if it was someone else's video, but it just doesn't seem to go with the whole Jewel persona. They were making her out to be sort of (dare i say this) slutty. I mean, I know she's a woman and all, but she's overly flaunting her sexuality, and it doesnt really go with the song. I think all the respect Jewel gets for being this beautiful soul and a serious, successful artist already reflects in her music and poetry, as that's where it was derived, but it should also reflect in her videos as well. <3, Courtney Marie *The Painting ^A^ngel* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Aug 1999 11:42:11 EDT From: SunGlytter@aol.com Subject: * NJC: Jewel Raleigh show Hey Angels! This is a message to all the Toronto EDA's who want to hear Jupiter on the radio! I know a lot of people feel it's not important to have Jewel heard on the radio a lot.. but I feel like other people should be exposed to her more. Sitting in the show in Toronto last night and looking around to see a practically full but not quite full theatre... i wished that she could have sold out the entire air canada centre.. so everybody could know what a beautifully talented person she is. I mean I was with a friend and she said that she'd always 'liked jewel'.. but 'she wasn't totally crazy about her'. 3 songs into the set she leaned over to me and said 'tomorrow i'm buying all of her albums'... i just wish that more people could know what she is as a musician.. and that's why I think it's important to get her onto the radio. anyway - to get her onto the radio we have to call the radio stations and BUG them non-stop! I've been doing that but I need help from ALL the toronto eda's out there! so everybody, here are the relevant phone number's:- ChumFM (very likely to play jewel if nudged a little) - (416) 870 9131 KISS 92.5FM - (416) 870 8888 MIX 99.9FM - (416) 870 0MIX (870 0649) those are the 3 most important ones.. and chumfm is the most important out of those. so get calling..we'll get jupiter on the radio yet! steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Aug 1999 08:43:10 PDT From: "Justine L" Subject: * Toronto Show Hey Angels! I also went to the Toronto show last night and I'm at a loss for words at the moment. This was my first Jewel show ever and I'm blown away at how wonderful she is. I'm fairly upset though because I had to leave early to catch a bus home, the last song I saw was Down So Long.. and I really wanted to hear Love Me Just Leave Me Alone and Chime Bells. But the really great part about this concert was that at one point she had said she didnt want to play any songs from her albums and random requests started coming out of the crowd.. obviously EDA's or other good fans.. I yelled for her to play Sometimes It Be That Way (I didn't hear anyone else yell it) and although she didnt say that she was playing it cuz someone requested it, she played it.. I bet she heard my little voice and it makes me so happy :) Yay! All I have to say is that if I ever get the chance to see her again, I'm driving and not taking the bus because there's no way I'm going to miss out on the last part of a Jewel show again :) Also, not to be bitter, but I think Rusted Root was on far too long and no one in the audience seemed to be too thrilled with the performance (I know I wasn't) and Steve's set (wow he's such a cutie) was way too short. Anyway although I missed what seems to have been one of the better parts of the concert, I'm still thrilled that I actually got to see Jewel perform at all.. I could sit and listen to her play every night for the rest of my life.. Anyway, it's been real. Justine The Joyful Angel PS I saw a couple people with EDA shirts.. one girl with short blonde hair and one guy with a different shirt.. blue with big yellow letters on the back that said "EDA" so HI PEOPLE whoever you are.. i walked by the girl but i was too shy to say anything and I don't have an eda shirt.... anyway I hope you all enjoyed the show! here's the full set list: Near You Always Deep Water What's Simple is True Hands Jupiter You Were Meant for Me [unknown acoustic song] Carnivore Sometime it be that way enter from the east barcelona life uncommon foolish games down so long down love me just leave me alone who will save your soul Absence of Fear [poem - miracle] Chime Bells cya later steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Aug 1999 12:14:21 EDT From: Fairy2884@aol.com Subject: * EDA hey guys, i was just curious, how do you guys pronounce EDA? when i say it i say E-duh, like it's a word. but last night on the jewel thing she said E D A s. so i was wondering if i'm the only one who shortens it. maybe this is a dumb question. but ya know. hehe. bye. ~Amanda~ ~the poetic angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Aug 1999 18:23:01 +0100 From: "Debbie" Subject: * new angelfood site Hi My friend has just finished a really great angelfood trade page, called Swallow the Moon. I love to browse over the Internet in search for jewel sites But when I'm browsing i come trough sites that are not so good. I thought if we all put up u sign for good sites. Every body can earn his sign. HOW 5 EDAs have to vote for the site and it will get his sign (that's not so hard isn't it) But now come 's the problem i need voters and sites. Has the site earned the logo i will put out a link to it on a special part of my homepage. The logo is all ready on my site so you can see it. (Also my site has to go under the eye of you the jury I'm not cheating). So that not everybody can put up the logo you will get an ID WHY The EDAs who vote can help the webmaster of that site to improve his site and at the end every jewel site will be nice to watch to. I hope that you will help me realise this. http://come.to/jewel.nl James greeting angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Aug 1999 15:10:50 EDT From: Krishubb@aol.com Subject: * She was crying! There is a picture of Jewel at Woodstock in Entertainment Weekly. It is with an article about Woodstock, but there is no mention of Jewel in the article. I don't remember what the caption is. The new magazine is already out, so it wont be in like book stores or anything, I'm kinda late. But if you subscribe and missed it or something... I got one of those CD Club things in the mail today, and they had Pieces of You, and next to it it had the little symbol for "Parent Advisory: contains explicit lyrics and/or artwork" So, is that reffering to the song Pieces of You with the whole faggot and bitch thing? I just thought it was kind of funny. I mean, Sarah McLachlans Surfacing doesn't have a Parent Advisory! "Beatiful fucked up man" I mean, Sarah has a little dirtier mouth than Jewel. And I don't think it's artwork, unless that swimsuit (I think) picture is explicit. Opinions everyone? I was wondering who has some screen capture from Storytellers. I just thought I should add some to my collection. Thanks! I better go, because my computer is sick, and likes to freeze every ten minutes. :o) bye! Subject: * NJC: Confirming my "opinion" About a week ago I sent a post to the list about what I thought about Woodstock. Being that I wasn't there, I only had limited viewing of what went on. Most everyone agreed with me, but a few didn't, mainly those who went...trying to say it wasn't as bad as what the TV made it out to be. Well, after watching MTV's 1515 last weekend, I must say that I think I'm right. All of the MTV VJ's who were there were present for this edition, all commenting on everything that went on, mostly stuff we never saw "on air". Not only has my opinion not changed, it's even stronger than it was before, and I'm very glad I didn't go now. I'd bet anythig there will be no other Woodstock. Then after seeing the post about the NYS Troopers searching for the people who vandalized things, I'm ever more sure there will never be another Woodstock. I think that whole event was totally ridiculous. A big corporate event that got totally out of hand. Those who were there can say what they want, but after seeing it on TV, and hearing what went on behind the scenes, I don't see how anyone there could have had any fun. At least that's not my definition of fun. Derrick ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #454 ***************************
