Why didn't they allow the concert to go ahead, even if they weren't going to air it? I imagine that a lot of people were looking forward to seeing Jewel live. But then again, I guess it all comes down to money(or maybe Jewel didn't want to do it?)- as usual! Also, for those who are getting just the Sunday PPV, and not all 3 days(like myself) or 2 days), be warned that Jewel's performance MAY be cut by the act over at the west stage(as the Insane Clown Posse did when The Offspring were on stage), or they might come in a few minutes too late at the start of her performance. But not to worry! They repeat the performance at night. Also, Rusted Root are going to perform. They are scheduled for 3:40- 4:55 (West stage) The Woodstock web-site page has a list of all the performers and some information on them, as well as audio songs and links. The address for Jewel is http://www.woodstock.com/html/biow0031.shtml One last thing, the photo in EW is the one taken in Rolling Stone(the first one) where she has laurels in her hair Alex the Scottish Angel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 11:57:26 EDT From: PointeRose@aol.com Subject: * Jupiter on Real Audio? Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is old but the copy right says "99" so it can't be to old .. I was at the mall today and I found another book about jewel .. The Title is "Angel Standing By". The Story Of Jewel.. Just letting everyone know peaceoutty guys Angel eyes aka Erin ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 12:52:49 EDT From: AmyC22@aol.com Subject: * PNC concert =) OMIGOD........I can't even find the words to describe how AWESOME Jewel was last night....I was dying.....I had to wait til now to write this, just so I could collect my thoughts because it's so hard to comprehend that it even happened! It was such an amazing performance and she was just incredible. Ok..this is gonna be long cuz it was a long memorable night, so bear with me guys! I got there expecting to meet a bunch of EDAs like we planned to do, but instead only 4 of us (plus our friends) were there. Where was everybody?!?! One other guy was there wearing a HGH shirt with a bunch of cans, but then he left...Well I hope whoever you are you had a great time! Ok...well Jordana was there so after wandering around trying to find anyone (we must have looked completely lost...) we decided to sit and maybe you guys would find us...but no one else came. =( Kelli was there tho and her friend Adam (I think...) she seemed cool. We talked for awhile and then decided to go bring our cans up....then we started to go in..the security people gave Kelli and Adam a hard time about their cameras, but I think she finally got it in with it (right?!) Ok, so I had one single seat in section 101, 11th row, but I ended up in section 102, by Jordana cuz it was a better view. And I got kicked out a couple times from a seat next to them, but I ended up seeing the whole concert in the 7th row center!!!! (just 2 rows right in front of Jordana so it was all good). It was SO CLOSE! I thought I was going to faint....So first Rusted Root played, and let me say, they were awesome....they are such a good band in concert (Jordana can be the girl right?! haha....). They played for awile and a little after 9 Steve came out. He was SO funny. He had his little table set up with the beer and wine...haha. And at one point he started unbuckling his pants and said "I'm gonna pull down my pants, on the count of three everybody take a picture." Haha...so Steve, like, mooned us. He sang the Gold's Gym Guy song and the Star Wars song (which was so funny!). I loved hearing him. And then....a little after 10.....Jewel came out!!!!!!! She opened with Near You Always, which was beautiful, and she sang Grey Matter, SIBTW (!!!), Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, and Down (altho claiming it as a new song, we knew better). She also sang all the other songs she's been playing on the tour. Barcelona was so amazing with the lights....when her voice got really strong the lights came on full blast. She sang Life Uncommon, Cold Song, Grey Matter (in which some people were kinda rude shouting stuff out during in....) At one point, Jordana (the mistic angel) and I screamed out "EDAs love you Jewel!!!!" and she answered "Thank you. I love you too baby." Aughhhhhhhh!!!!!! This was even better because we're the only one's she answered that night! The German interviewer story was hysterical and when she said "it's not funny like, haha funny, but funny like, isn't it ironic.." Everyone laughed. =) Then when we heard her say that everyone can stand and if they want you can come up, I leaped over the seat and made a mad rush to the stage. And I got right at the stage!!! A little to the right of center. I couldn't believe it!!! Jewel was right in front of me!!!!!!!! She was like 1, 2 feet away...it was like a dream. This is when she sang Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, Down, WWSYS (incredible....), and a bunch of other songs. Her rendition of WWSYS was awesome...it was like 10 minutes long and she was so cute because in the beginning she was dancing with her back to the crowd and she slowlu turned around.....it was so cool cuz she would sing and the guitar guy would copy it...I loved it!!!!! At one point she walked by and shoke everyone's hand!!!!! She shook my hand!!! I was like thank you!!! And when she was singing Down I was kinda singing along and I guess not many other people know the words to it and she looked right at me and I smiled and she smiled back! I couldn't believe it....When she and the band left, and the drummer threw out his guitar sticks and I caught one!!!!!!!!!!! Aughhh.....So no one moved and we were all calling for Jewel to come back and she did and sang Absence of Fear and then closed with Angel Standing By...before which you could hear Jordana screaming "You're an angel standing by!!" Haha...The night was so absolutely AMAZING. I cannot even think of the right word to describe it because Jewel was BEAUTIFUL....her voice is like an angel....I swear she is. She is a million times more beautiful in person too... And when she was rocking in some of her songs a lady behind me was yelling "Janis Joplin is nothing compared to you...." wow...I still can't believe I touched Jewel!!! The night was like a dream come true. Afterwards Jordana, her friend, and I wandered over to the side and found the electric guitarist Doug and Jordana got his autograph and a pick from him (yea Jordana!). So I was trying to but then the security guards made him go back inside. Then we searched for my friends, found them at my car, discussed the night a bit and then went our separate ways... For all of you who have yet to see Jewel in concert....GO!! Jordana and I are trying to acquire some good seats to another concert and do it all over again! Heehee...I am in complete awe of that night....This whole thing may sound a little incoherent but my thoughts are just one big jumble....2 days past almost and I'm still all jumpy! Hope everyone one who was there had a great time!!!!! amy *the mistic angel* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 11:52:34 -0500 From: "another cute cheap thrill" Subject: * Jewel's Alloy Contest Jade, (and everyone else who was wondering) I went to the Alloy website this morning, and followed a link to this page: http://www.alloy.com/empire/?SubSystemID=15&ComponentID=5582 Follow the directions there to enter in the contest. <3 Annie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 12:58:24 EDT From: POYJewel@aol.com Subject: * Jewel at PNC and Questions... That's where i live! in Maine! That may be stupid but i think it's cool that her CD was mastered here in my state, i just asked my dad were that place was and he said Portland. that's only like an hour from me! i think that's soo cool. okay maybe it's not that instering, but hey. oh and i was wondering if there were any EDA's from Maine, maybe around the Auburn/Lewiston area? just wondering... ~Melissa, The homicidal angel~ (That's what my friend Ashley calls me) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 14:49:51 -0400 From: "Bob Hedman" Subject: * Comments: Holmdel, NJ & Jones Beach, NY shows and some other stuff Hello Angels, Well, this could be the best week of my life. I'm not very good at expressing the way I feel in words so please don't under estimate my excitement. I went to the concert in Holmdel New Jersey on Friday night. My seat was in the second section, kind of far away. Other angels have posted about the show so I won't. Then last night I went to the show at Jones Beach. I had sixth row seat. I was in heaven. And let me say I have to give props to the fans. So much better than those at the New Jersey show. Very little yelling during the songs, I really think Jewel appreciated it. What a show, I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful she looked! She played Pieces of You and a new country song she said she wrote from her fathers perspective. I LOVED IT! I'm begging for a copy of the show. Please if there is any angel that recorded it, please email me! Well, my dream week is almost over, although I'm going to the show on Wednesday at the Meadows in Hartford, yeah, second row - center seats!! I'll be the tall, thin guy, with the Jewel Spirit tour shirt on, hopefully this time with my camera and zoom lens, if they let me in with it. I'll post all pictures God willing. Also, I have a copy of Shiva Diva Doo-Wop. I know there is much interest in it. As, well I think, Jewels biggest fan and biggest collector of Jewel merchandise, I posted a picture of the cassette and J-card on my website. Please take a look and fell free to ask any questions. I've tried to verify it's authenticity but have come up short so far. I'd love to hear from anybody else that has one. Well, I guess I've written enough, hope to see some eda's on Wednesday night. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible, but you never know...actually I'm downloading Windows Media Player for the Woodstock broadcast as we speak, so I'll write until that's over. My sister and I didn't have much trouble finding out hotel, but before we actually got there we were driving through these horrible streets that seemed kind of *dangerous* so we were all freaked out thinking that our hotel would be in there somewhere...I dunno. Also on the way we saw signs for Jewel Ave. and we were getting all psyched up for the concert just from a street sign! We got to the hotel and spent about half an hour there, then we left for Jones Beach. We didn't want to drive, but a cab would have cost $40 one way with no guarantee back to the hotel...hmm. So yeah, we were at the theatre and were just loving our 7th row seats. Kelli came up to me and said hello, and I thought that was cool...she had 3rd row! woohoo:) Rusted Root were pretty good, and I enjoyed their set. Steve was cranking and it was the first time I had ever heard his ABC's of love song and it just cracked me up! Jewel sounded so great last night, and to this day she still makes me wonder how she does all those different styles of voicing. A few of you have already written in about the concert, so I don't want to bore all of you. Although I have to mention some of my highlights for the night: *When that girl made out with that older guy *When Jewel was just being her freaking HILARIOUS self and telling funny stories (yeah, we've all heard most of them, but they're always entertaining) *When she forgot "does she make you think nasty thoughts" from POY and a girl screamed out the lyrics *And when Steve HURLED his guitar 20 feet in the air when the show was done. I doubted the guy was going to catch it, but he did to my amazement. I did sneak my camera and my recorder in folks. The pictures should come out ok and I'll get them developed tomorrow, but my recorder sh*t the bed and the second half of the concert sounds wavy. I'll listen to it again, but I don't think it's worth distributing because of the poor quality. I'll let you all know! Take care and I'll see some of you in Mansfield for Jewel on Tuesday! - -Nicole:) angel on horseback ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #429 ***************************
