I just woke up from te concert last night at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Homdel NJ. Jewel ROCKED!!!! Jewel played a lot from Spirit, but not too much from Pieces of You. More Spirit in the beginning, then more Pieces of You towards the end, but overall a decent mix. I have no regrests at all! Jewel forgot the words to You Were Meant For Me on the second verse in the middle of the concert. Had to sing it to herself about 5 times and then Steve Poltz was helping her out a little. Then she finally got it and barely got through the song dying in laughter. It was awesome! She did a new verson of Jupiter, the one that the video has. She debuet at least 2 new songs, possibly a 3rd, I don't remember. They were the most awseome, hard rocking songs in the world! She screamed louder and jammed harder than Courtney Love! Awesome way to start to close the set. She also did a rock out verson of Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone. She ended her set with the most kick ass verson of Down So Long. She is gonna blow the brains out of Woodstock! She jammed for like 7-10 minutes towards the end. She did this awesome scatting type thing with the electric guitar. She would sing, he would imitate the voice on electric guitar. It was awesome!!!! Jewel then came back on stage and did a song with the keyboard and she finished the night off with a solo on the guitar. This concert was one of the best I've ever been to. I've seen Pearl Jam twice, one time 10 feet away from the stage in 1996 and this ranks up there with that. And for Jewel I was pretty far away. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 15:30:36 +1000 From: "Jennifer Teapot" Subject: *Updated Jewel Web Site Hi everyone! (new tapes at the Angelfood Bank) Hi, The AngelFood Bank is now offering 4 additional tapes on its web site. Visit http://www.angelfoodbank.org if you would like to get a high quality copy of any of the following tapes: Rare Angels Radio Angels Future Folklore volume 1* Future Folklore volume 2* Future Folklore volume 3 Jeweltide Carols* Jewel Rocks the Paradise* * = recent addition to site This is the official web site for maintaining distribution of angelfood for the jewel lists, so it's not a scam or anything like that. We do this because jewel list members provided us with free tapes at one time, and we'd like you to have that same feeling and enjoyment. They aren't absolutely free, since you have to mail off blank tapes and return postage, but you'll never have to send any money. Everything's explained on the site and in an email after you sign up. Your email address will not be used for any evil purposes- only communication concerning your tapes. There is no obligation to do anything once you get your tapes but enjoy them. I know, it's rare to find an exception to the saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is" but this is one exception. It's possible due to the volunteers who will be making your tapes on the "Credits" page on the site: http://www.angelfoodbank.org Tapes are available anywhere in the world. Just pick the region listed closest to you on the site signup. We've done our best to make it easy to get your tapes. If you have suggestions please let me know at this address (juddjam@mail.auburn.edu). And i have to tell you that is real great. It's nice shot and Jewel talks open and frankly like the Speak easy interview about her music, her life and her great inspirators. I think this is really a programme that every Jewelfan should watch :-) Jewel is at her most honest and that is something we all love about her. They show clips of her albums , and they have used nice colour effects with Jewel making it look like an old cinema movie. You really can imagine than how wonderful Jewel is, and how she inspires us all with music or when i heard her talking today in that show. She was so much at ease. So this interview is really one again no Jewelfan is allowed to miss :-) Second of all anybody who still wants a copy of the dutch Jewel EDA tapes volumes 1 to 4 can email me personnaly and we will discuss details. Take care of yourself and hopefully Jewel plays Woodstock terrific . I bet she will :-) I can't wait to see it myself on videotape in Holland. bye, Michiel one of Jewel's fan in holland ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 11:17:29 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: * Listen to Jewel's Woodstock set for FREE! Hi folks :-) If you go to the Woodstock 99 web page at http://www.woodstock.com/html/home000000.shtml and then click on the graphic that mentions the free webcast (click here for the free Woodstock 99 webcast"), you'll be able to listen to much of Woodstock 99, and hopefully Jewel's set on Sunday (now tentatively re-scheduled to start at 5:30 pm) They also have some archived files of Woodstock 99 performances, so if you miss Jewel's set Sunday, they MIGHT have the file there later. You will need Windows Media Player to listen in to the webcast, and there's download capabilities at the website if you don't already have it installed. You will also have to register with the Woodstock 99 site (name, address & email address), but it's free....no charge. Also, have a pen ready, they give you a rather obscure password you will need. Each branch on the Angelfood Bank has been set up with the highest possible quality masters we could supply them, so that if you get tapes from one of them, you can be sure it's as good as you can get :-) Again, to partake in the AFBs offerings, head to http://www.angelfoodbank.org You won't be sorry. Mike - Jewel list owner :-) P.S. James and I would like to request that you do not put links to the Angelfood Bank site on your own web pages. This Bank was set up for the benefit of list members and we want the publicity of the Angelfood Bank website to be only via posts from this list. We don't want any of the Bank's branches to get overloaded with requests from non-list members. During Steve Poltz's set, Jewel came on stage to do some vocals for one of his songs, and she did a little dancing while Steve Poltz played and sang. She started off her set with a few songs from "Spirit," and later did some unreleased/new songs and a few from "Pieces of You." She played the new version of "Jupiter" (on 4/4 time instead of 3/4), and asked that everyone call in to their local radio stations and request it (I know I will). After an incredible rendition of "Down So Long," much like the one at the Homdel, NJ, show, she went offstage for a few moments, then came back on and yodeled (which was absolutely amazing), then played an intimate, soft version of "Absence of Fear." I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jewel in concert, and I wish to catch her in concert again, or get ahold of a tape of the concert. Does anyone know where I can get a copy?
